What is wrong with people on the forum..?

Not sure where you got 99% from OP but all my friends, FC, LS all hate the relic quests and thinking about unsubbing from the game because its that bad. You may think the majority are liking it but i think you are wrong quite ALOT of people in game i have seen hate the relic quest (shout chat in different zones) and are not doing it. I see lots of FATE parties but i can bet once most reach the end step they will stop.

The funny part is that everyone is just complaining about the crystals, when:

1. If you completed your Zeta you completely skip this step entirely, they nerfed the original Atma grind IMMENSELY since it's launch, you could have had a Zeta complete in a weekend before patch.

2. You are allowed to level other classes while Fate grinding, which literally just turns the entire process into Fate grinding. It would be no different if you were leveling an alt class.

3. Right off the bat the drop rate is light years better than the original Atmas, In about an hour and forty minutes I had 1 third of the process completed. The entire night I was chatting with my static WHM and she had all of her crystals done in about 5 hours.

After the crystals the quest line just transitions into repopulating dead content with no RNG left tied to it. People were complaining that stuff like Alex Normal and CT were just dead in the water, well here's your solution.

These weapons are ilvl 210. THE ONLY OTHER OPTION TO OBTAIN A ILVL 210 WEAPON IN THIS GAME AT THIS VERY MOMENT IS TO CLEAR ARGUABLY THE HARDEST PIECE OF CONTENT THEY HAVE EVER ADDED TO THIS GAME SINCE IT'S CONCEPTION.

Of course it's going to be a grind. If you didn't want an RNG grind you had 5 months to dedicate yourself to progression raiding and get a 100% grantee chance at a better weapon to begin with.

There are other games on the market that generate an even worse grind for players. This is pretty soft in comparison.

Most of those other games also give you a way better reward for the grind put in, or make the grinding more tolerable, or seeing some actual useful development during the whole process. Here at most you'll find use for the reborn stage and then nothing until the final stage.
Why are we even defending grinding because 'other games have worse grinds' anyway?

I for one enjoy my Awoken Deathbringer glam slapped onto my overly pretty Thordan sword.

The grind is actually tolerant if you delve into it and take a casual approach. If you did hunts, dailies, fates and Alex normal runs, you'll have an Anima weapon within a couple weapons. People decrying typically look at a single method (farm Alex Normal 620 times) and love their minds. This content was not designed with farming in mind, but allowed it as an option for those willing to put in that level of dedication. Even if you did just farm Alex, it would take a conservative 50 hours (4 minute speed runs, plus additional 'extra' time to account for possibly slow queues). Divvy that up over a two week period and you're looking at: 3.6 hours a day. And 2.3 hours over a three week period.

Even if you toss another ten hours, it's not all that difficult. Of course the grind will be somewhat monotonous. We are getting a weapon equivalent (or one level below) to the best in the entire game. If the grind is too much, just settle for an il200 and attempt Alex Savage.

Also @ Vanitas, depends on what sort of content the player is doing but the weapon from Savage is better, eso could actually be argued that it is not far behind (way better stats but lower weapon damage)

Yeah it's pretty annoying. Ofc i can understand that people who come and cry on the forum like the game and stuff, but EVERYTIME that SE make a move everyone here is like "omg i'll unsub wtf is that shiet imma out of here".

Even my JP friends and English friends hate the 3rd part of Anima quest. Who like grinding Alex 400 times ._.

The point is not that there actually are PFs about this relic - this is not, per se, good nor bad. It was probably supposed to replenish DF queues, not unsynch/organized parties to clear them. Nothing really gained. So I really wouldn't use that argument to support this.

The point is that even if the first step is a rehash of the atma. Even if the second step is a marathone of the last dungeons you have done plus leveling dungeons which you had to grind to get your char to 60. That last part is completely unnecessary in terms of magnitude and some can even argue in terms of content approached. Beast tribes and treasure maps I can get behind if you don't have time. Alexander normal, I can understand if people wouldn't wanna run it otherwise, sort of. But why would you leave things such as 2.0 raids behind to stay completely dead (especially the 24-man ones)? EX primals were given an enormous boost in terms of replayability/grinding reasons - mounts and crafting items, mostly, and this happened a large amount of times over the patches. I actually see many Kirins, and I actually still see some primal farming parties going on.

Nexus step made every content useful, although trials were still favored in terms of time/reward. Then again, trials did not warrant long queues anymore after that, at least for a long time. 24-man raids were wonderful, too, especially when the bonus was on. Zodiac brought a good synergy between gatherers, crafters and desynthers (or whatever the word), shaked the economy and so on. Novus? Eh, loathed the gil sink but it still introduced the "Imma do it right now and bust my ass / Imma do it day by day and still make it in acceptable times" concept that kinda worked for Nexus too, I suppose.

First step is an atma roulette yet again, except you have more skills to use. The reason I'm here typing instead of still looking for shards, I suppose, it's because I had a Zeta I was willing to sacrifice. Not a fan of it, but I guess enduring RNG for a weapon is something I'm already familiar with as long as it's not 1%.
Second step is a marathone of dungeons I have already done for other steps, and most of them I did unsynched. It was fun watching my team-mates tear everything to pieces and breaking mechanics the first time (*cough* Animadversion-DODGE *cough*), but honestly I coulda done without that. Besides, HW dungeons made me remember how frustrating the BotD system and buff timings were without a Geirskogul to wind down.
Third step is mostly what made people angry. You know, the vocal part that you claim it's the minority. That's when the so-called vitriol comes.

Pros) You have multiple routes to take. Which is good, because variety is good. I like having options, just as much as I like grinding to choose every option and rush it. It also takes into account crafters, like Zodiac did.
Cons) Content is not challenging game-wise, rather it is time-wise and sanity-wise. We already had step one for that, Square, or if we skipped that we had two years for that. And yes, that was worth a strong glowing dyable weapon. Not a strong-until-3.2-hits (which by the way is how much it will probably take to make it) undyable weapon. Heck, people are rushing to Awoken because it's middle-ground in terms of effort/reward and it even has a swirly aura, some don't even care about it reaching Anima status. They could have added new content for that (bosses such as Chimera Dhorme or Hydra) or rehashed content that many actually complained about not being queuable anymore.

Vitriol, you call it. I call it "unpolite feedback", but still fair in terms of what was addressed.

TL;DR: I have been a relic rusher since Realm Reborn, I think I have even been close to getting one of the first Nexuses in the server at one moment, but at this moment - in order to get only a 5ilvl boost in my weapon which will not change my fate in savage encounters and will be made just as useless when next patch hits - I just can't feel like commiting myself to such a chore. My Longinus is a reminder of a struggle which was worth it - just as much as the Awoken is the reminder of a struggle which I consider clearly overtuned, both in terms of reward and amount of effort. Clearing A4S seems easier and less time consuming, considering my dedication to this game - and dedication is what made me get my ARR relic, mind you.

I'm sorry but I have no idea what you're talking about. I have not seen a single person enjoy the new relic quest in-game. The butthurt is real. Some people from my LS' has actually quit the game, which is fine. No judgement there! (Until they come crawling back, like always. SE has a way to keep people in the cycle of subbing for some reason). The incredible negativity not only goes on forums but also in-game. It's all fine and dandy until people hit the final step, sure. But after that, or after seeing what it takes I've just heard people drop the thing altogether.

This is my experience, and I don't think trying to yell "vocal minority" helps any. Of course people will do it! but do they enjoy it? I haven't met a single person who does.
