Oh my god
Someone actually said this to you? Was there any context or reason for this or was it out of the blue.

Character name is Dirty Paws, I'd say that's the context.
Going into A12N with a friend (both of our first time), we wound up with a fully geared Paladin who absolutely refused to use cooldowns during the add phase, or any for that matter. He kept claiming he was but nope. He used Rampart once and nothing else ever again. Even during adds, I kept ripping aggro because he couldn't hold it on more than one mob. Our poor DRK basically had to grab everything. Lot of early wipes. After that phase, the Paladin still wouldn't use cooldowns properly despite being the MT and got salty when the DRK took over. So one of our pulls, my friend and her co-healer deliberately refused to raise him. Hilariously, we almost beat Alex with this tank on the floor for like 60% of it.
I felt like I was robbed of my DRG purpose: tanking the floor. :(
What makes me laugh/cry.. Turn parse on during any duty finder.
The End.
Diurnal Sect can stack....Nocturnal cannot. So both ASTs in Diurnal can stack regens.
A lot of ASTs don't seem to know this.
Leveling Roulette drops me, as AST, into Stone Vigil, with an at-level PLD and 2 DRGs, one level 53, the other 58.
I kept a close eye on their buffs throughout the entire run. Wanna guess how many times I saw Heavy Thrust up on those DRGs?

None? Is that your final answer?

CONGRATULATIONS! You win! But in the end, everybody loses! And we had LB sitting at full for most of the run, only getting used when Isgebind was at 1%. The one saving grace was that the PLD was smart enough to avoid doing large pulls, allowing me to DPS.
I wish. No, it was one of them.
And on another note, A8 as SCH. I get a WHM co-healer who refuses to heal, and two tanks who refuse to tank swap. So apparently I'm the only one who cares about the Perpetual Ray mechanic. Great. The MT refused to even pop cooldowns for it.
Not using CDs on it is stupid, but pretty much any tank over ilvl 235 can single-tank the Perpetual Ray now as long as at least one healer is on top of it. I don't think I've tank swapped A8 for awhile now.
But if you had to MH the tank and the rest of the party? Yeah no, rip.
I can solo-tank Perpetual Ray as an ilvl 230 PLD, but I damn well make sure to use cooldowns on it. This PLD was probably around the same ilvl.
SCH is my 2nd job now and I'm ilvl 236 on it, so we didn't wipe, but it was damned annoying, and the PLD also blew themself up by taking double cannons to the face.
So I'm usually a lurker when it comes to forums like this, but this thread has made me start posting xD
Got an old story from A4N (remember that place?). So this was about a year ago and I was on my AST healing with my friend. He was on his scholar and was new to the fight. We zone in, say hellos, 3 of the dps and my friend say they're new, and I start to explain the mechanics to my friend in voice while protect and stoneskins are going out. As soon as I finish casting stoneskin on the tater-tot dark knight, he pops darkside, and only darkside, and proceeds to plunge at the boss. Alright, so this is going to be a baptism by fire for my newbie SCH friend. It's at this point I notice that the DRK's HP is about 13k from equipping all strength accessories, as this was the thing to do back then to increase tank damage to meet the stringent DPS checks of Gordias Savage. But dang, 13k even for Alex normal seemed a little low and the DPS checks in normal were basically non-existent. So, I decide to hold any dps I was planning on doing and just try to keep this little edgelord up. He holds hate surprisingly well for a little while, but the problem comes up when the first tankbuster (I don't remember what it's called) hits. Even keeping this guy topped, the tankbuster hits for about 12k and then he is finished off by an auto not even a second later. No cooldowns used at all. Thankfully, the 16k HP PLD quickly intercepts aggro and begins tanking as one should, in a tank stance. Unfortunately, things start going south after that. The orbs come out and the DPS and newly raised DRK don't seem too eager to help soak them, so me and my friend start eating them. It's not enough, as the last couple speed up and my friend is caught off-guard and dies. Long story short we wipe partially because of that and partially because of new people in that party learning the fight. Okay, people are learning. No big deal right? Wrong
13k Dark Knight (his gear is roughly ilvl 175) starts spewing a tirade at everyone calling us trash for wiping on this fight. He then directs his salt at me and says one of the most quotable things I've ever heard someone say in this game. It went something like this:
Me: People are learning the fight, I'll explain the mechanics and we'll give it another shot.
TaterDRK: Says the healer who can't hit the heal button lol garbage
Me: You have 13k HP and you weren't using a tank stance or CDs, what did you expect?
TaterDRK: lol if you can't heal me without grit up, you have a problem
I wasn't even angry, I was just in awe that someone was so delusional that they thought this was a reasonable thing to think. Anyway, the DRK drops right after that and is replaced quickly. I explain mechanics, we try a few more times, and we eventually clear. Kinda sucks though that a few people's first experience with the fight, my friend included, was with that butthole of a DRK, but I guess that's just what happens in DF sometimes.
Do some people not like people who play AST anymore because of the new buffs? Because I zone in Xelphatol as AST with my sister as PLD even though I didn't need Expert. Just as I load in the BLM did not seem happy that there was an AST in the party calling me a "bandwagon AST" which I'm guessing because more people are playing it because of the buffs. I didn't respond to them, because I don't respond to people like that. However, I started playing AST in 3.2.
They also apparently didn't like the way my sister was pulling, so they decided to AFK during the 2nd pull having us have to wait for 5min to be able to kick them. I really wish people like that would just leave on their own or get a party together that lives to their expectations or ask nicely to do bigger pulls. Instead of queing for Expert expecting everyone to play how they want. At least the DRG stayed.
After the jerk was gone, we get a SMN and go through the dungeon smoothly other than them lagging a little on the last boss, but other than that; nice run. :)
FYI that was our 2nd run of that dungeon. We haven't got it for expert since clearing it for the first time a week ago.
Anyway thank you DRG for staying; you earned your comm! :)
That BLM is an idiot. The healing requirements in the dungeon are minimal at best, and you being on AST means Balance and Arrow. Bandwagon or not, that BLM should be jumping for joy.
I am not sure how your PLD was pulling, but it is pretty easy to mass pull in the new dungeons. If you two are even close to 240 gear (I heal on my alt which is mid 230's), then you should have very little problem mass pulling. My friend pulls everything and I hit "rouse" on my faerie and DPS. The roused faerie is enough to solo heal a large pull.
Ever since people cottoned on to the knowledge that the Raid Finder is actually pretty good for Sophia Ex, my personal clear rate for it has plummeted to less than 50% in less than 24 hours.
It used to be all the time, God dammit
EDIT: Make that less than 30%...<_< We're officially in "you missed the boat if you haven't cleared it yet" territory methinks!
I'm 243 on AST. My sister was PLD at 236. It was our 2nd time in that dungeon, so we wouldn't know what kind of pulls other tanks do. But we can for sure try bigger pulls next time. ;) And I'm sure I could heal her just fine through them. Besides I'm pretty sure I've healed worse and never went OOM. Oh and I did look them up and they didn't even have AST unlocked, so I guess they just don't like AST.
PoD in midnight. 3 DPS 1 Healer, floor 41-50.
41-49 the run was rough--traps were deadly, healer seemed out of form. Once I was slowly killed by a mob and he stood aside, did nothing until my fallen. As we finished 41-49 finally, np.
Then Edda. For the sake of the 3 bronze chests we got, I wished we go well.
No tanks, I proceeded instead. Take it easy, I told myself, a smart healer would help.
Nothing went wrong until Edda cast scare(forgot the skill name). We scattered in a mess.
Soon we wiped, after AOE twice, during when no healing came(my potion was in CD). What was the healer doing? At first I guessed I ran too far; while looking at others' HP, nobody got healed, including the healer himself. So what happened actually??
...Well, in a word we failed, 3 chests--gone, effort--naught. It might be time's bad--we should not play with Edda at a moment everyone was drowsy. Forget that healer. Maybe God sent him to tell us not to stay up.
AWWW, just lost my First PotD in DF boo. :(
Made it to the end, just couldn't get the boss killed.
Oh DF, how you never cease to amaze me.
Trial Roulette. Ifrit HM pops up. Other tank is a DRK, I say "I'll MT, DRK does more damage than PLD", which they oblige. I think great, nice peaceful run. DPS get dropped like flies shortly after LB3 comes up (and the melee DPS tried to cast it, but got stopped due to Ifrit disappearing off screen for charges). I say "Hmm, maybe time for LB3", which they cast, but not until after ressing 2 of the DPS. Those 2 DPS that were ressed before the LB proceed to get creamed as the LB3 goes off, so they don't get ressed. Other 2 come up, and proceed to get creamed again. In the end, we beat Ifrit Ex with 1 DPS up, 2 tanks, and 2 healers... like... I knew people were new, but holy heck, I now realise that boss can still screw people over.
had a wiping city run a week or two ago where alliance A had roughly...? 4 people, minimum, without job crystals. no one truly wanted to start anything so other alliances just kept shut while alliance a cracked jokes about cross classes being better
come final boss, alliance A is /completely/ dead. we ended up clearing, but i still cracked a joke about how the crystaless dpses should have cross classed a raise pfft
still though, a raid established as being refreshingly difficult and people are going in jobless for the heck of it hah
My husband did a weeping city the other day and his ally kept wiping. Why? Both healers focused on DPS and neither healed. What I find to be really sad is the healers were from the same FC.
Could be worse.
You could have been in one of my runs yesterday where a healer from a different alliance went AFK at Ozma and Calofisteri, and magically un-afk'd immediately after Calofisteri died. When she got called out by my party's tank, she tried justifying it through 'lol I had to go pick up my bf' and her party actually defended her saying 'lol stop getting mad at joke 24 man content'.
That last part is why the devs will never ever win. Armchair hardcore players disgust me.
(I was top DPS for that run too. As a BARD. If they wanna act 'hardcore', they should at least be out-DPSing a Bard that doesn't actively raid.)
Ran The Vault for the first time last night for MSQ. We wiped about 4 times before completing it. Either I or the healer would die first.
However one time the healer, black mage and tank all wiped leaving me alone with the boss who was down to about 10% HP.
I thought, this is it. I can do it. LB'd him, still up with 1% HP. Get KO'd. FML.
It's even worse if you're looking for your completion... put the time in during practice only to use raid finder for "completion" and end up with 2-4 players stating this is thier first time in the fight whatsoever but they watched half a video 3 days prior.
Atleast you have the option to filter out the non completions :c
Raid finder going for "completion" should be locked out until you've participated in Practice imo.
Sophia EX, queued through raid finder to farm. Ended up with two BRDs, MCH (me) and a BLM. We kept dying to enrage at 20~10% T^T
I'm still doing it, but a monster shout out goes to my party doing coils right now. I love you ALL. For staying letting me watch the mini movies and driving me thur all of coil tonight. On T-13 and I couldn't have done it without you. So odd that I was able to find understanding and awesome people willing to take a scrub like me into coils and actually stick it out to the end.. like the whole thing. I would name everyone who's in the group but rules and all. If I can I will cause the world needs to know how bloodly awesome you all are.
By two consecutive days, roulette trial gave me Nidhogg in progress. Well, yesterday lacking 1% HP and LB3 healer already used, 3 survivors (2 tank and 1 healer) managed to kill.
Today was without deaths. But I only survived because of my iLv (242).
Oopsies disregard
No love, Ruda EX.
Tank doesn't want to tank (doesn't want to take aggro or use any skills) at Stone Vigil dungeon.
Tried to go behind the mobs in a small room just to get to the next room which was full of mobs in a small ass room too.
Had to kick him due to both DPS's having to tank and I can't heal everyone fast enough while I'm being attacked too.
Yesterday I queued for leveling roulette on my PLD to get it some more XP, I got Copperbell Mines. Was an ok run, even if the healer seemed a bit undergeared and often let me drop to very low hp and during some fights never healed me at all, but instead dps'ed without cleric stance? Still, no deaths so not really a big problem. Shortly afterwards I switched to my DRK to run some Alex, but as I went to click the "clear selections" button, I accidentally hit the queue button instead and tank queues being what they are it, of course, instantly popped. So in I went, to find myself in Copperbell Mines again! It was a fun run though, some of them were new but on point and jokes were made by all.
But seriously. Literally twice in a row? XD
