I gotta agree with LunarLunatic, those people are a minority and they're easy to figure out right from the start. I already met some great friendly people here, my honest advice is just keep going. It always helps if you give people some clues about your personality too.
It helps cement strong common ground while alienating those you'd never get along with before you even talk. Though I can understand how hard it may be to find a female friend.

In regard to make female friends, it is not hard. I met a few female players. The problem is that guys or girls have more expectations from then and/or want not commitment and/or want just to goof around (yes girls as well as guys think the same from "female players"). Now if the female players are busy as well as you, how about you come out of your busy schedule and talk. If people don't talk and just expect to be talked and be the one always receiving attention it won't work or if you are too clingy in right after talking to that person, it is a huge problem.

Dont let those creeps stop you.. Believe it or not there are women everywhere on this game. My FC is mostly female for example and it wasn't intentional. From my experience the people creeping on you will more likely be a male because I've never seen a female creep.. I know they must be out there but I just don't see it.

On the topic of women pretending to be men, I remember being 12/13 and playing WoW all the way back in Vanilla, I was in a guild with a person who pretended to be a woman but was in fact a man to gain an advantage / gifts from otherwise ignorant players. I only meant it was hard given that the gender demographics outweigh female players and then on top of that, finding one that wants to EB another female player. Most play with their IRL husbands/ boyfriends and EB with them.
Others like myself would just prefer EBing a guy friend. The odds aren't stacked in her favour, but it doesn't mean it's impossible or that she should give up.

@Dreamsoap - Yeah, I understand there are not as many creeps on this game as there are good people. I've met a ton of good people. Just seemed to attract some not-so-good ones with my post, had guys asking me for pics and offering payment, someone followed me in-game... Guess I should just be more cautious.

@Magic-Mal - Thanks, I'll try not to. There are a bunch of girls in my FC as well, they're just not on as much as I am or not on at the same time as me sometimes. And I'm positive everyone who has sketched me out, which isn't so many now that I think of it, are dudes. But I have seen my friends deal with the weird types as well and it is really bothersome.

There might be an influx in the player base within the next couple of months. WoW's expansion still has some people in the honeymoon phase of it all due to all the arbitrary time gates that it has implemented. Once people start to realize how useless and tedious the current grind is before the devs nerf it within 6 months, they should start to leave there and come back here. So don't give up.
