Female Hrothgar as a playable race. Show your support!

Based off the thread on Twitter revolving around a 'Show your Hrothgar' concept - faces 2 and 3 are winning in popularity.

When I first saw the original benchmark, I imagined that the 2nd and 3rd faces would be really popular. I wonder if I’ll mostly see face 3, kinda like how male hrothgar most people I see use face 2 lol

I wonder that as well. With Male Hroth the chance of seeing face 1, 2 and 4 among players is super rare.

I could imagine Hrothgal face 2 and especially face 3 carry the "big wild cat" image the most. (Face 3 even has the Coeurl whiskers and fangs.) Face 1 is more like a cute cheetah/snow leopard mix, with one of the hairstyles supporting this image even more. I love it, but it doesn't suit the aggressive personality of the character I want to fantasia. (Created one for someone else though.) Face 4 is more humanoid, which is not necessarily bad, but obviously less animalistic.

While we're talking non-popular faces, I tried recreating a TTRPG character of mine. (She used to look like an average cheetah until she had some unfortunate meeting with a bunch of vampires.) Unfortunately we don't even have a slight creme beige available for either of the clans, so I went with the next best thing. Not perfect, but still pretty and close to the original. :)

I'm seeing a lot of face 3 myself. So far it is like 3>1&2>4.

I know I'm settling on a face 1 Snow leopard.

I admit, I am a bit annoyed with this "rating", because it would mean this would be the third character I created where I picked the most popular face or one of the most popular faces by accident. xD
I already have a Miqo'te face 3 and a Hrothgar face 2... But they also suit their personalities so well. (And let's be honest, are there really any actually "rare" faces in a game with only 4 face options for most peoples? There will always be copycat moments for all faces, for some just moreoften than for others.)

As long as you are comfortable with it. :)
Sure, there are trolls, and things like "your catgirl looks like any other blah blah" are their favorite food, but it's foolish to pretend to be witty when there are only a few faces to choose from. As far as I can see, even with this minimum, the vast majority of players create something very personal, and are deservedly proud of it.
Do it the way you like, and you 100% won't go wrong.

I like face 1 the best, but I also use face 1 for male so biased maybe huhuhu

In order from best to worst I would say face 1-3-2-4

I understand and sympathize with this 100%. But a nice thought is the likelihood that the race + gender combo isn’t popular. Akin to female and male roe. So there’s a chance that crossing paths with your reflection is minimal.

That is true. So many Hrothgar screenshots in this forum look very individual and made with great care, and have their own small tweaks and stories. Despite sharing many faces or colour patterns etc. And liking similar things is not in itself a super bad thing to do in the first place. :)

Fair point. And there is also glamour, this can make a big difference as well. There is more to our characters than just visuals anyway, in many ways. ^^

I think all the Hrothgal faces are good in their own way and the race has a variety of different options and color combinations. If you end up looking generic you really only have yourself to blame.

I think with the new dye systems and glamour will make any one, no matter what face or colors, will make anyone stand out of the crowd. And I know people have their eyes on fem hroth now, but I imagine after the first month or two the numbers will go down. So we’ll stand out even more just because of rarity hehe

I absolutely love this race! I have so far only met 1 twin for her, but my "twin" has a different colour palette and different fur pattern, so not identical. There is also the fact that we won't see them as often as you would see Miquo'te (for obvious reasons) so chances are you might never run into a twin of your Wol.
Besides, what matters is that YOU like YOUR WOL! There are only 4 faces to work with, and the customisation is bare bones in this game. So no reason to overstress it. At least until they add more customisation.

On the subject of twin syndrome. Out of any of the races Hrothgar have the best advantage in my opinion.
As a lot of species of cats can look mostly the same if not an exact copy as each other without being from the same parents.

So, what I mean is unlike the other races, if I saw or ran into someone else who picked all the same options as me even down to the voice.
I wouldn't feel like I ran into a long-lost twin like I would as say a Hyur or Roe. The more beast/animal looking a race is the more believable seeing an unrelated twin is.

I hope I explained myself without it being confusing.

I wouldn't worry too much about having the same face as other players. It happens with other races too and it won't be much of a problem if female hrothgar get access to more hairstyles in DT. All that matters is you find other ways to stand out like glamour choices.

How did I end up on the hypothetically least popular face while tinkering around to find a face I like? I'm not sold on everything, such as the tattoos, but face 4 definitely has striking features.

I'm also going to be using face 4 myself. I knew it was gonna be my face when I first laid eyes on it in the female hrothgar announcement trailer in January. I was surprised to find out it seems to be least popular. Makes me second-guess my own taste lol. Although I do agree the tattoos and other optional features are a bit lame compared to the other faces and she does have a bit of resting b**** face going on when she isn't smiling :P

Also, the thing I hate most about the tattoos is that I can't better color match them to the fur.

Personally, I'm extremely excited, but want to leave a reminder of a few things:

A new bottle of free Fantasia awaits you in Ul'dah city-state, and after taking a sip, you will have an hour of IN-GAME time to change as many times as you feel necessary; this is a positive change, especially considering the queues in the first days after release.

Don't forget about retainers: you'll have the opportunity to hire a hrothgal immediately after Early Access starts, and make sure everything looks as it should. Personally, I'm interested in what kind of characters they will have.

And, of course, about Early Access: remember - if you are not a PS or xbox player, you will need two keys: for EA and for the release itself. If you pre-ordered, you already have the first code, and the second one will be sent out soon. A button with an input field will appear on Mog Station in time!

I would like to say that even though the Fantasia will have a 1h ingame time of usage, using it within the first couple of days might not be most optimal considering that we'll most likely see hour(s) long queues as usual with an expansion release/early access.
Even if it only counts ingame time one would have to spend hour(s) to get back in every time one wants to make a change to the character.
So maybe it'll be better to save it for when the queues has settled down a little.

As a console player with an ancient PC, can't wait to actually get to play with the character creator and try it out.

I'd like to take a moment here to express my gratitude to everybody who has fought hard to see female hrothgar added to the game. I wasn't playing the game at the time male hrothgar were announced and so I simply showed my disdain for the lack of female hrothgar by refusing to even play the game. It never even occurred to me that asking about it incessantly on the forums could make SE change their minds. So THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who kept nagging, it's thanks to you that I can have my dream character :') and so so sorry I didn't do anything to help :(

And of course thanks to SE for making the female hrothgar the gorgeous and stunning lion queens that they are!!! I was way too worried they'd turn out to be miqo 2.0, but you have pleasantly surprised me. I can't even express with words how happy I am!!! <3

100% agreeing with TheCat and ejunniim! When I joined during 5.1 or so and saw the lack of Hrothgals, the idea of Hrothgals coming into existance was more of a vague speculation based on "well, they added another gender for the older races as well... eventually". After playing five levels with a Hrothguy, I decided to restart as Miqo'te and keeping the ARR Fantasia close for the unlikely day far in the future we might get our ronso queens after all. It still feels unreal this is actually going to happen in two days! (Although not with my main, I love her too much by now, but that's what alts are for. :D )

Without all the people in this and other threads, on social media, on fan fests and wherever else the demand for our queens was communicated, it would still be a distant dream. And I'd like to hope all the fan made concept art is part of what prevented us from getting fem Miqo'te 2.0 instead of the badass power ladies we'll see soon. Thank you very much from the botton of my lion adoring heart!

And also thanks for the nice respectful and creative mood in here and the "Show your Hrothgar" thread. It was and is a beacon of hope and excitement, especially now with all the doomposting around us. :D

Popped my fantasia I had collecting dust before maintenance and logged out in an inn. I am READY. Soon, I will be reborn. Currently in my hrothgal chrysalis.

i have to do the quest, unfortunately, so i'll be a bit delayed on my joining. (yeah, i probably could afford to fit the fantasia into my budget, but why do that when we're getting a free one?)

Aaand preload is already available in the launcher!! \o/

It's look and User Agreement have been updated. Maintenance continues, but game files can already be downloaded! <3

This right here brings a lot of joy to me personally! I fought for this, yes, but I always put out that there are many others interested in our lion queens who don't play the game right now, because none of the offered roster appeals to them!
So THANK YOU for that. And now we can all rest and enjoy these amazing queens!

I'll be waiting until after I finish MSQ to give Hrothgals a try but I'm looking forward to seeing them running around the world while I do that. It's wild seeing them finally in the game after years of waiting and debating how they would turn out in this thread (even though I was right from the beginning :cool:). Happy for everyone to finally get what they've been waiting so long for! :)

Honestly, apart from them being locked away in all unlockable hairstyles, I really love how they turned out. I was worried that they would look like Miqo'te girls rather than bestial girls.

are there any hairstyles they can use from the unlockable ones? would be nice to know before i pay for something i cant use.
i dont really care about having access to all hairstyles, but there should be at keast an ingame information about which hsirstyle can be used by which race.... or they should make a hairstyle preview

When I went to Jandy there were no more hairstyles than there were in the benchmark. None of the unlockable ones I have. Not even my mogstation hairstyle (Lightning) ;(

I've been enjoying my time playing one, but there are some glaring issues that I hope gets fixed:

1)Breasts size from 1-100 is barely different unlike Femroe which is DEINITELY different. Makes there breasts sometimes nonexistent on some armors even at the 100 setting.

2) Also unlike Femroe the shoulderpads are WAY too wide, like a little kid putting on Dad's shoes it looks too goofy. Some armors make it work, but they compensate by making the pads tall so it doesn't look out of place.

3) Like the shoulder pads, other pieces of gear are randomly much larger on the female hrothgar despite being much smaller on femroe.

4) 2b leggings has weird butt dip on the top, makin git look like they have half of a butt.

5) Some armors that are skin tight are DEFINITELY NOT skin tight on Female Hrothgar. The allagan gear that looks like raiden armor from MGS comes to mind.

All in all, hope we get more touchups for this race, it really needs it more than anyone else.

I think it's mostly the arms that people have the most issues with, esp around the shoulder and biceps. It doesn't really bother me on how the shoulders look to be honest, but I still understand your post. As for breasts, well, I completely agree with you on this. As for the rest of the races, they too deserve to get more fixes as well(they're not as perfect as one thinks).

Oh definitely, it's just the combined issues with this race and the fact that we are missing hairstyles means they need some immediate TLC.

For Au Ra, I'd like to see horns and faces separated and maybe get some emote options that let us play into the mountain Au Ra roleplay rather than have dainty emotes on an otherwise hardcore clan.

But these demands for Female Hrothgar seem like something that can be done sooner rather than later due to the nature of the issues.

Thank goodness I've only seen one or two of these new furry abominations (even AFTER giving us a "free" Fantasia NO-ONE is making female Hroths... and for good reason). After having suffered through the HORRIBLE Dawntrail msq, I never want to see another one of the grotesque asf creatures again.

And by the way... I will never NEVER play through DT again. It was so bad as to be insulting. The entire team owes the player base an apology.
