Looking at Western video game covers makes that pretty apparent lol ( endless grumpy gruff men ).
Historically a lot of great warriors were described as beautiful, Vikings for example were said to be very well-groomed and handsome and not like what you see in movies, tv shows and games.
That's a more modern and superficial view.

With humans it makes a bit more sense I think to play into tropes like that, but with different races I don't think that they necessarily need to fit into those Hollywood tropes.
And I don't think that it really fits into that fantasy that Male Viera are clearly playing into.
I mean sure they're effeminate by our modern human standards, but by Viera standards I'd assume not.

I mean one can be well groomed and gruff. My point being that in lore male Viera are presented as hardcore survivalist and protectors of their homeland, yet they look like a K-pop band in this trailer. It's just a bit of a disconnect.

I'm honestly flabbergasted, I really wasn't expecting it, but it's a nice surprise! I'm both very happy and very torn (specifically regarding the present challenges of customization for F Viera and M Hrothgar), but let not my gripes of the latter dampen the current mood. Unsure of popping a fantasia on this (since M Au Ra are perfect to me for my character), but maybe I'll humour the thought, depending on how I feel after testing customization, animations and voices on an alt.

Grats to everyone, excited for F Hrothgar in the future!

My RL fiance and in-game bonded partner already jokingly threatened divorce for the fantasia thought. xD

I had a feeling it was going to happen, but I tried not to let my expectations consume me and create my own hype in my head...but OMG I'm so friggen excited now. Toward the end when Koji was like wait, we have one more thing to talk about, and started making the ear gesture with his fingers I literally sat up and screamed OH MY GOD! LOL

I mean, female Viera, in their own trailer, looked like dainty beautiful hostesses yet ingame they're actually rather stoic and elegant, making people even call them masculine for not being "teehee kawaii desu uwu". I expect the males to follow the same pattern - it's not so much about how they look, but rather, how they act.
