I have a question. I'm finding this incredibly odd.
Before patch, at lvl 54, my Wildfire on my opener was hitting 2.4k. And now, it's hitting 1.4k on the opener.
EDIT: Ignore this. Had glamour on, I'm a fucking idiot.

This is what I came up with. Compared to my previous test, I did get a few more crits. Other than that, it's a straight dps buff to full time GB.
I'd also wager that toggling GB is a dps loss due to ricochet's nerf.
Might be a silly question, but can wildfire crit?
Well its a pretty rare occasion when mine hit that hard. Hover between 5100-5200 most of the time at 172. You must get some nice crit hits during your rotation. Not sure what else I can do to maximize that damage. All buffs and dots are up before I even pitch wildfire out there.
So even at level 53, with the gauss improvements its better to keep it on now?
This is what I am hoping to test this evening when I get home. Previously, if you used no CD's and only did the rotation of split shot spam and hit the procs as they come, using the gauss barrel resulted in LOWER dps than with it on, or at least nearly identical dps, depending on RNG.
I am hoping what I find out this evening is that using the GB will see a noticeable increase in dps without using cd's, just using split shot spam and the procs as they come.

i167.
Yeah. These buffs will do just fine.
So guass barrel full time then?
Actually, in most situation movement situation where it last less than 3 sec, id rather keep my GB on. Usually there is something instant available when you have to move such as proc slug shot, proc clean shot, Gauss Round and Ricochet. In worst case when nothing is available, i can cast feint while on the move.
So, just cleared T4 and got the free accessory. I'm picked the neck piece for the det and skill speed. Have we determined what our best stats are yet?
I cleared T1 twice and the others once a piece... Didn't get a drop until T4, so I haven't been able to upgrade anything else. :(
Either way, ss's effect on cast times will be kinda nice.
Ran Alex floor 1. Parsed at 1003 on the first trash pull. The dragoons piercing debuff must really help out the machinist considering I barely pull 900 on a dummy

GB on at all times, unless you need to burn mobs down...and your DET is outstanding.
Otherwise? Rotations, rotations, rotations.
If you're stance dancing after 3.01, you're wasting a DPS slot.
With the recent changes to gauss barrel I am not sure if its worth it to use feint anymore. The way it works now is, when you put gauss barrel on you have to wait 15s to take it off, BUT putting it back on after you take it off has no CD. So if you need the quick mobility, such as Ravana orbs it might be better to just drop it for the orbs then slap it back on.
Feint 120*1.56 = 187.2
Split shot 140*1.2 = 168 not including autos gained.
pre-casting huton adds ~20seconds
I'm still struggling with this class, as much as I want to be good at it, my rotation is just terrible. I find myself staring at the hotbar too much looking at the available skills and just going ham on them which just feels wrong...
So after the opener, GB stays on and we just pop abilities when they come off CD?
Is GB only worth using at 60? I'm only level 53 and so far it seems like a substantial DPS loss...
At 53 it may benefit from stance dancing... Shot + auto attack > Shot + GB ... However, you will want GB on EVERY TIME you use lead shot and up for as many gauss rounds as possible. At 60, ricochet adds a nice chunk of DPS. At 60, the down time between using ricochet, lead shot, and gauss round is so small that its really not worth the complexity to stance dance. Just remember, the strongest potency attack in the MCH arsenal is lead shot, so its a must to have GB on for that.
For the most part, yes. Its worth delaying blood for blood to line up with wildfire, rapid fire, and hawk eye. The 2nd wildfire will not line up with reload and will rely on procs for heavy damage.. However, poping it right away should allow your 3rd wildfire to line up with your 4th reload for heavy damage.
I just did a few tests on a dummy and it's definitely not a DPS gain. Best case is it is not a loss...! I'll try again when I get Gauss Round (54?) otherwise I'll wait till 60.
I must admit as a relatively new player (played up to 30 in ARR) who picked up HW solely for Machinist I'm a little disappointed =(
