Agreed. The nerfing of the NM's was not needed at all. Many were solo'd pre-nerf already, and you could kill all of them with a group of eight or less already. It's not like they're basing all the content of scratch I hope, they did have 5 years developing this skeleton, if they hadn't at least framed some content ideas in that time then it is worse than I thought.

They did have 5 years or maybe more but they staled all that time. They didn't get much done during that time as you can see and even worst now Yoshi-P's team has to redo everything they did during these 5 years.

Wondering how it can take so long? Bad management, team had poor knowledge of the engine(see how bad it performs on even the highest end PCs + bugs) Take a look at duke nukem forever.. like 10 years in developpment and it is an FPS, nowhere close to a mmorpg.

poor knowledge of the system? you realize 3 of the 5 years spent on this game was BUILDING this system correct?

the team had to build the system for the game before the first line of code was done on the game. that left around 2 years to completely build this game. that includes the world, gear, spells, lore, npc's, mobs, battle system, leves, animations, and everything else you see. they did not spend 5 years building all of this.

Crystal tools was created back in 2006, it was named White Engine back then. Development for FFXIV started after crystal tools was completed around the same time. FFXIV has been in development for 5 years.

I've been a hardcore fan of this game from sept 22 of last year up until a week ago.

From looking at all the SW:TOR information out there on the internet I'm getting fully excited about it. It will have an amazing story experience that melds a single player game into an MMO world. PVP looks like a blast as well as PVE. The content seems well done and solid from the information revealed so far.

Looking at the latest letter from the producer it seems the only bit of info that came out of it is......... quest hubs....... Now I have nothing against quest hubs. They're fine and good and all that. But........ that was it really. Not to mention the tone of the letter seemed to indicate to me that good old Yoshi-P is tired. We didn't get the same enthusiasm in the letter that we had from him previously. The mood is definitely different.

To make a long story a bit shorter as much as I love this game and hope for it to be great (which I truly do) when SW:TOR hits it WILL take me away from ff14 permanently. This game won't improve to the point it needs to be at for me to stick. Now I know no one cares that I mention all this but it makes me really sad. I want FFXIV to be it soooo badly. I honestly feel sad looking at the situation we have. The improvements will no doubt come but the more I look at it the more I'm convinced they won't get the job done.

And I'm someone who loves this game. I'm am (was) a serious white knight fanboy until a week ago. I don't know what to say.... The FFXIV staff is taking the week off because of a holiday which to be honest I would probably do myself in their situation. But that also indicates the urgency is gone. I felt the lack of urgency in his last letter.

I hope I'm COMPLETELY wrong. But quest hubs a month from now with maybe a part of the battle system leads me to believe the roll out of needed additions to get this game to where it needs to be won't come until well into next year and possibly the second half.

I've never been big on the forums but have always been a HUGE advocate for the game to my friends and everyone in the game on the server I play. I'm worried because if SE looses a hardcore ffxiv fanboy like me, then I worry for the future of this game. (I'm not saying I'm important at all, far from it, just that I'm shocked that I've almost completely lost interest knowing how hardcore of a white knight I was.) I over looked issues left and right, always knew that the game would one day be the most epic thing their ever was.

I don't know that anymore at all, and don't think the game will even be a contender now.

Edit: I forgot the dungeons. Those should be fun. I still however stand by what I wrote. We really need alot more. This game needs to become the best final fantasy made yet. The odds are overwhelmingly against that happening.

Those of you on these forums (no, on all FFXIV forums) who relentlessly defend this game in all of your posts seriously exhaust me. How long are you guys going to have to parade around in your misguided crusade before you get to the point the other 99% of us have...

Another thing that greatly annoys me is that many of these people base their arguments on knowing the thought process of not just themselves, but everyone else! This especially includes who they're disagreeing with and of course all the programmers and developers over at Square-Enix (they also know all about how long it should take them to implement new content). Like who the fuck do you think you are? You're not fucking clairvoyant, sorry. Let's face it, when you're on the unpopular side of something like this (and at this point you're more of a minority than a colored hair on a 90 year old man), it's usually because you're wrong.

We will stop relentlessly defend the game when something better comes out.

Rift = WoW, which was a shallow peice of crap that only appealed to the non-mmo gamer.

Star Wars is a solo player game with a few options for group play.... aka it is not even a mmo techniqually, it is focusing on all the things a mmo is not except for the story. That and they are using graphics that would be considered sub par back in 2005.

GW2 is a 100% solo player game from what they are saying there is literally no grouping at all it is just a bunch of people soloing together on 1 mob... Alot of new things here but once again they are making it for the non-mmo gamers.

Tera is the only semi decent mmo coming out but they are nerfing the crap out of it for the NA market... so /sigh.

We white knights will stop defending it when Devs stop throwing out WoW clones and Solo based mmos.

Honestly if you do not like Grinds, you do not like grouping, you do not like spending along time on character development you simply do not like a true mmo. If you are in catagory you should go to ToR or Rift those games are designed for the 90% of the mmo player based that despises the genre.
