I paid every month up until the end from when they started charging until they stopped. Even if ARR is going to be fantastic there's so many things I still preferred and will miss from the original version. Just yesterday a LS member and I made brand new characters and ran some leves just outside of Gridania for nostalgia, did a behest, then logged out for the evening.

people who played V1 helped them out alittle on softening the money lost & helping development with ideas, so out of there kindness which is amazing for a big company to do theses days, they did us a favor and helped us out too with the legacy status.
people who quit & moved on or new people have to pay as normal. your paying for a service. why should they lose profit for people who didnt want anything to do with the game, now the same people want all the spoils.

2. A HUGE jpeg on the upper left corner for months
3. The Producer Letter XXVII was about it
4. Further forum discussions related to it for months to come.

And people still bitch and moan about how they didn't know about Legacy? Do these very same people go back to their local retail stores and do the same bitching and moaning about the Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Pre+Post XMas sales they just missed? BTW, today is Dec 31th, you may still have one last chance on the post-xmas sale, better move your a$$ now if you want in on it.

Another thing and a lot of people seems to have misunderstood, SE gave this to all the players who paid 3 mos in a roll since first billing, and not just those that stuck around in the last three months. "The campaign recognizes those players who subscribe to FFXIV for 90 or more cumulative days during the period between January 6, 2012". Therefore, a lot of players already automatically became Legacy even before the campaign was officially announced.

I didnt know about legacy and didnt care... i took 3long breaks in between the game... but kept paying for the game....

and guess what? i found out that i am a legacy member...

and i had to relearn the game every time i came back... and re gear my classes/jobs...
