I would love if they brought back earlier pre-order earrigns that I wasn't around for so I can complete my collection. I also would love if others got another way to get the ones that I do have. The aetheryte earring is my favourite earring in the game and I want others to be able to enjoy it too. I feel that small pang of greed to find out something exclusive I had is no longer exclusive, but I see that as more of a personal failing. Giving people another shot at things they missed should probably be encouraged. It's different if it's something you earn in game for putting in the work, but what's so special about having money and being around at the right time to spend it?
What should be encouraged more is using the money that practice generates to actually make FFXIV better instead of funnelling it off to be squandered elsewhere while this game has to cut corners and be less than it should be.
Why all that extra work? I remember how many people used to ask about my broom mount because it wasn't on the Mogstation for ages after the 2015 Halloween event. I was really happy for everyone when they finally released it because it's a great mount. It would have been silly if they went to all the trouble of creating a new version when it had been years since it was available in game at that point.
Now, I'll openly say I hate anything being exclusive. I am of the personal belief that all content in a product be available to consumers of that product. If one purchases the product, then the content therein should be available, not to some arbitrary subset of consumers.
That said, the pre-order bonuses for all of the expansions, far as I understand, aren't exclusive content (save the early access). The items associated with it are available after the pre-order period as account upgrades on the mogstation. If you didn't pre-order the ARR version of the game because you either weren't old enough to play it back in 2013 or was laughing at the massive failure that 1.x was, you can still get the Coeurl Mount associated with that pre-order by spending some extra cash on "upgrading" your account to have it. It's there. It's available. It's not forever locked away to only those who pre-ordered the game back then. It costs money but that isn't exclusive.
Permanent exclusivity is a blight to begin with. 'I spent money years ago' is not an accomplishment worth protecting.
Personally think 1.0 doesn't need many exclusive items as the 1.0 players already have an exclusive reduced subscription cost...
I am quite biased however, as I would not mind having the other fomo emotes/items tied to statues/books etc (which I have and are expensive) being made available for cheap on the mog station.
(These are my opinions)
I cannot believe anyone can honestly complain about this good of a deal being available.
Ignoring whatever phrasing was used around the pre-order bonuses, I would rather have the earrings/minions/etc made available in a more orderly manner than just dropping a random semi-recent one in and in part.
Moogle cap, cait sith doll, baron hat, baron earrings, courier chocobo, a la mhigan earring, wind up red mage, aetheryte earrings, baby gremlin, wind-up palom are still in limbo assuming they add another chronological one in 8.0.
I would of course prefer them added as jonathas thingies for achievement points than cash shop whatsits but I have doubts that the se accounting dept would agree.
