I'm just waiting for the next two dungeons~
But how though? The art director and composer isnt in charge for creating and programming the actual gameplay content for FFXIV. It wasnt Soken's fault for why Variant and Criterion dungeons lacked substantial rewards, it wasnt the art director for why Island Sanctuary wasnt better implemented at launch, it wasnt the writing team for why the relic grind is lackluster.
You are blaming the wrong people for this.
At this point I feel like the community is trying to play a Wha Happun episode for EW's content (nothing against Matt and his show, I love it) but without doing any of the actual research or proof for it.
So far what little we know about the FFXVI dev team isnt enough evidence this is being the case besides Yoshida taking the helm for two projects simultaneously, and even then we still have no clue how specifically that entails for the two teams.
"Video game art directors play a key role in every stage of the creation of a video game, from formulating concepts to supervising production. They work with 2D and 3D artists, animators, modelers, and other artistic staff to coordinate all the visual images used in a game. Video game art directors supervise both in-house and off-site staff, handle management issues, and oversee the entire artistic production process."
So the above is just a general purview of googling art directors. Now, Coders are usually not also designers in gaming companies, they just code things into the game. So therefore, if the art director is responsible for overseeing the glam designs that rewards will have, then the coder will take those designs and turn them into objects in game, using their designs as guidance.
So that's how if he was absent maybe not enough rewards were created for variant dungeons or the rewards themselves could be lackluster because the person at the top may have just let it slide.
absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. You haven't done any of the actual research or proof to establish that Yoshida taking the helm for two projects simultaneously wouldn't have an impact on FFXIV either. I can tell you however that using common sense it's logical to think that it has.
When you work, and they ask you to do two things at the same time, do you think you will be able to get them done as quickly and efficiently as another person tasked with only one of your chores? In this case the onus on proving it doesn't would be on the person with the two tasks, because its more likely that their performance will be affected by common sense alone.
So in fact you dont know, nor does anyone else on who went where, so the claim "they took staff away from FF 14" is actually pure speculation.Quote:
It's common sense, Yoshi and SE need XVI to be a success and SE is obviously resource sharing because as a business they need to minimize costs and maximize value.
It looks like to me they are selling 16 off the key figure that working on it and since 14 has gain some main stream popularity square is using that to get people to buy it. To me that show how much they really care about the development of 14 that it just really another game that help them keep the lights on so they feel they don't have to put to much development into it.
To be honest this is probably the only stance I can sorta agree on with him spreading himself too thin between FFXIV and FFXVI. But it has absolutely nothing to do with the actual staff involved or the lack of manpower here. Like I said none of the actual developers transferred to XVI wouldve had an impact given the current state of content in FFXIV. Its only speculation.
The only person we can assume thats being affected is Yoshida himself as he is the director for both. But thats as far as Im willing to go with the speculation.
