It is possible they might get the servers up this week, Tokyo has had power steady for the last few days, according to cnn. The reactors that are a threat are north of Tokyo, that being said, the main problem right now is the radiation leak from those reactors, all though the Japanese media is stating the radiation is only a concern 30Km from the reactors which is far away from Tokyo, other sources are stating that the radiation leak is far worse than the local media is reporting and has been detected as far as the united states. Words can not describe what the Japanese people are going through right now, this disaster is horrible, and my prayers go out to all the people of Japan. I wish I could do more to help out, so far I donated some money to red cross and bought few copies of ff14 today. If any1 has any other ideas how I could help out more please let me know.
Not really expecting server to go up 22nd, but hoping for extended update on the situation, future patches, and etc.
Starting server back up will be both business/political decision, but at least SE could do it put up some plan for future and keep the fans somthing to look forward to other than server restart :p
I'm not in any rush. It's not like I can't find other things to do while this gets sorted out. I'm not about to give any estimate of time it "should" take them to get everything up and running, as I have never had to deal with a natural disaster of this large of scale. However, until they know it's 100% OK to get everything back up, they should keep the servers offline to help with the energy issues.
If the power problems seem likely to persist for a month or more, I wonder if they would consider relocating the servers? If they set up a new server cluster in say Austin, TX, the server would be roughly equidistant from both Europe and Japan.
why Texas?
Hong Kong or Europe please!
Nothing yet....
just 1 AM in Japan now
