The cutscenes to even get into the raid are lengthy enough, was it really necessary to invoke another Titan Cheese quest to pad out the content length? My eyes glazed over so fast the moment I realized what was happening. It's never a good thing when you get so mind-numbingly /bored/ that you start skipping through the actually interesting dialogue because you just want it to be over with. The chocobo fight was fun, even if it broke lore more than a little. I'd have rather had another fight like that instead of having my time wasted by something that must be endured 'only once'.

I didn't mind it all too much...maybe it's because I got to see a few npcs that have almost been long forgotten so it was nice seeing them again.

You know what I liked about other raids? Getting to know more about the city of Mhach, visiting this city. Learning more about what happened to the people of Mhach and on top of that get emotional ties with the NPCs in there. This is world building and deep lore for me. Hearing about Mhach and thanks to the raid being able to know more about and even visit it. The raid connected us to the world and history of Eorzea.
The fetch quest just feels bad overall.
First we have to remember that we just recently helped save the boss of that NPC and got nothing much in return and on top of that we are already ready to help them again. Yet the writer sends us over half the world for a wine that he wants for his lover. A gift that he even makes to look like it was from him in a way. What a bad behavior on itself. Now other people next to the WoL cant simply teleport back and forth between the continents thus it would have taken others weeks or even months to go there and come back too. Does he know that we can just teleport around?
Also lets not forget that we are really important for his boss, since we are his muscle and without us they would stand no chance. But he sents us out on a quest that can take quite long depending on how we do it and lets not forget that he knows that we like to do "fetch" quests, so what if we got called into something important in Eorzea? He would not have gotten his wine (how convinient that he got it back right when he needed it) and his boss might have postponed his search thanks to us missing. I mean lets not forget that he says that some days have passed so this took quite some time and would have taken even more without Hancock.
And lets talk about Hancock. He is the head in Kugane and cant teleport, yet somehow he himself went to Limsa to sell wine. Again how convinient. That should have been the work of some of the locals from the same trading company because they would know the behavior way more and would not need to travel for weeks or months back and forth. So him being there personally does not even make much sense.
How would I liked it better:
We starte with the fetch quest and the guy wanting us to get the wine from Limsa. Yet instead of going through with the fetch quest, thus also making fun of the trope (which is not good writing imo), they could have destroyed the trope by us declining to help him and having his wife step up. She could just verbally kick him into getting certain wine himself (which then would be in Kugane and not Limsa). We wait, he comes back and we get a little story about the wine (thus the reference). At the same time he talks about a conscript he knows and thus we land on Drest and on that part find out some of his past. (Connecting the world and the raid) After that depending on how they want to go with it, we can either go back with unlocking the raid or they could have more side quests that let us talk with more people, learning even more informations.
Thus we did not have to run around, we did not have to feel like SE pokes fun at us, we get to learn more about the people that we are helping and even maybe their view on Eorzea and the world. They can even stick more references in there.
In the end I cared more about the crew around the void arc raids then the one here. One is so single minded on proving something, the other is a big jerk. One of his crew member sents us out to some fetch quest (who would have paid for the wine btw?), while the raids itself feel way more as fanservice than anything else.
I was afraid that something happens to Caith Sith, I was afraid that anything might happen to the rival of our pirate. I like the main NPC and we even got some parts of his background. I felt bad for the master of Caith Sith and horrified about all the coffers in the arc. I got to visit a place that had a big influence on the history of Eorzea and even to Hydaelyn herself. The scenes when we escape the arc and see Diabolos taking the coffin away and knowing that danger will come. The awesome feeling of batteling on that big airship. I even often felt a connection with the bosses. Not out of nostalgia or fanservice but because we knew some of them. We already fought against two and its kinda our fault that they are there because we somehow did not finish them. It felt personal. We also knew about the void and get to know more about the different rules of it. And also seeing our tentacle boss and knowing that he was once a WoL from another shard was harsh. (The same with knowing that those void creatures were once normal people) It connected it a bit with the Ascian conflict and showed how important our work are. Anyway this raid really felt connected to lore and the world without the need for fetch quests.
I like the visuals of Rabanastre and the Ivalice raids. I was looking wide eyed at the huge building of the lighthouse. But the characters dont do much for me and some even annoy me, I dont know about the names thus it does not have the bonus of "OMG other FF" and the bosses still feel random to me. Heck even Ethys asked why the second boss was in this raid at all. And another person asked at the end of the raid why the leader turned into that enemy. I just feel like this raids only feels completely epic or really great if you know about that FF. And I am fine with fanservice and references but I feel like they could not take me on the ride here and thus I had really hoped that their promise of epic and long Storyline would be epic and long. Yet next to the visuals it did not feel epic. We got great information and all but the scenes itself did not bring forth the feelings that I had with void arc. (Or even the crystal tower, where the homages also went over my head but I still could enjoy it greatly without the knowledge)

The Quest to me i guess seemed overly longer then needed as i guess people were waiting on me to have the 24 man unlocked :/
But to each their own, some enjoyed the quest others are tired of the same stuff. Carry on

What's this? I don't mind free clusters and crystals for doing a fetch quest earlier. Them crafting materia go for quite a bit so I'm fine with this.

Five clusters which can be used up easily. Crafting materia might still be worth something but battle materia are entirely worthless now in the market.
