just add it to the cash shop
No one needs these items. Most all the weapons are ugly, and the ones that are appealing look similar to other models in-game. The hairstyle is just one of many you can have/obtain. They are a nice way to thank the players for playing in 2.x. I rather them put new stuff in the cash shop than cheapen the memory of the event by making a quick buck off it's rewards.
This is the absolutely worst thing they could do, all I have to say is "no". The only that should be in the cash shop is past event items, random minions and the very uncommon mount. Would you really prefer they dedicate resources into developing content for the cash shop because you're scared that your precious pixels are going to more common? The gear is absolutely hideous imho, but if people are willing to pay for it, give it to them. It's like every other event item.
PS. Anyone who's against this and got the items from the 2nd and 3rd times the event was released are entirely selfish and hypocritical.
I got it from the 1st event, and no, I did not whine about them re-releasing the event. There just comes a time when people miss the boat. If you can have everything all the time, there is no sense of urgency or worth behind any of the in-game activities. I like the feeling of needing to do an event because I might miss out! It gives another layer of substance by making it feel more real. Nothing really last for ever irl, as it pertains to events, holidays and parties. It's a nice touch that these events feel more real in the regard that they are different every year and possibly temporary only making 1-3 appearances.
So, please, take your tired ideration of the "special snowflake" argument and check it else where. It has nothing to do with being or feeling special.
Well, there's an obvious reason for doing it this way. A limited time offer creates a sense of urgency. They want potential customers to think, "I had better subscribe right now to get that item!" Not, "I won't miss out on anything by waiting, so I'll subscribe in a few months, or maybe not at all because I'll forgot about it if I don't do it now."
For S-E it's incentive for people to subscribe sooner rather than later, and for players who participate, it's a little something for them to show off, that not everyone else has. Win-win.
someone else who doesn't pay attention to why this likely won't happen.
the gear as is won't be added to the cash shop, if they do add it what will be there will be gear stripped of it's stats
it would be better if they choose to let people have this to either redo the event which seems it might make a lot of people angry for whatever silly reason or, to add a mockup of the event in the Golden Saucer using GATEs which is possible since the Golden Saucer has a lot of room in it that could be used for just such a thing.
in the end regardless of how much we do or don't want it the decision is up to Yoshi-P and crew.
Which.... is pretty much what some people are arguing for: putting the items in the Gold Saucer, possibly along with some FFXIII-flavoured Gate accompanying it (though I'd say preferrably not), would be just that. A new way of getting those items, similar to how some 1.x items can be gotten through retainer ventures.
There's also one 1.x dagger that didn't get converted into a sword the way all other gladiator/paladin daggers were when they introduced rogue/ninja, so 1.x players lucky enough to have one of those are the only ones who can run around with a dagger-wielding paladin. (Unless SE 'fixed' that one -- I hope not, though.)
Though... I wouldn't really consider an event promoting another game to be comparable to consistant in-game activities (like the hamlet defence, etc) ^^; But that's just my personal opinion.
As for the chocobo/goobbue, the question you responded to asked "that don't have a 2.x version" -- 2.x does have versions of the chocobo and goobbue. It's not the same, but it's similar enough IMO.
I have no problem with everyone having these items but the event has already been available many times. It also kind of eliminates all 'exclusivity' if every single subscriber has them which I can see annoying a lot of players. We also had to do multiple quests for the items and weren't just given them. :)
I supported the game at the time. I even did the event and got the items!
... I would like to have those items on the character I actually play nowadays, though. And I don't really have anything against people who weren't around back then having another shot at it either.
