They changed core game mechanics with most of their expansions, and changed classes in every single expansion.


Honestly, please stop comparing FFXIV to WoW. I do not want to play WoW.
I want to play this game.

But the fact remains that a number of things we have (or don't have here) are simply done much better in WoW...expansions included. So bringing up WoW won't make the argument go in your favor, rather the opposite.

Yea by me alone.
I created those hundred pages threads of garrison bashing all alone.
Come on now, just a quck glimpse into the current wow world shows you garrisons are hated beyond belief.
Also what core mechanics changes? The only expansion i can think of that did that was cataclysm when they basically made wow 2, including rebuilding the whole world and classes.

Those were not degrading over time.
Those were dead on arrival because neither of the devs had any clue how to actually make an mmo. Read any review of either of those for detailed explanations.
Square actually could do the same with 1.x but they decided not to and rebuild the game from scratch instead and are now reaping the rewards of their effort.

Which proves even more that the IP isn't the only thing that keeps players with FFXIV. Otherwise 1.0 would have been succesful as you know, same IP.

I cant speak for everyone but as for me I will be dropping sub as soon as EQN or other online rpgs/mmos drop on the PS4. FFXIV is a sad mmo and to be honest it's not that fun. The only reason I am playing now is because of pvp. Other than that I rather be doing something else. I was really hoping for some new and exciting changes with 3.0. And yes I was expecting changes considering I paid $40 for the expansion which is basically the same cost as a new game. All we got were new maps and the same 2.0 mind numbing boring grind.

I love a good grind but who said it has to be boring?

It shall atleast last for 10-15 years. WoW is 11 years old and still around, Ragnarok Online is 14-15 years old and still around. Maybe in 10 years FFXIV wont be as popular as it is right now and everyone is playing FFXX online. MMORPG have a long shelf life, it will be around untill only a couple of whales are keeping the game up.
