Crafting is dead

One of the biggest issues is that there is not nearly enough differentiation in leveling items from 50-60 coupled with the fact that you can buy the same normal quality items off of vendors. This combination limits considerably the number of items that actually sell and are profitable, and because of that everyone is selling the same 50 or 60 items, dropping down prices, making the competition ridiculous, and generally taking a lot of fun and interest away from crafting overall. If SE wants to gate all the best items; fine, whatever, I'm not really gonna be participating until they change it, but in the interim add more regular items to buy and sell.

Thanks, your argument makes much more sense now. I see why you cannot profit from the red scrips. I'm not sure if S-E wanted to save them for only the hardcores and omnicrafters or if it's meant as a giant gil sinkhole.

Lucis was bad enough, you could do anything without it. This grind is even worse, and if the fun is taken out of a game its not a game anymore but work. And while working i at least get my monthly wage. 11.5hrs of favors plus 15+ times of getting gathering scrip plus the time getting mats for crafting red scrip.

Casual? I wanna see if a casual got 20+hrs (and motivation to even try) per week just to be able to craft for craftings sake - i for my part as an all 60 crafting/gathering 8 days in 3.0 am done with it until they change something. If they dont, well, they might loose a customer with 720 days active subscription once im done with all battle classes. Im still undecided, but if i cant gear my classes to a proper level without putting 20+hrs per week in - leveling battle classes only gets you so far...

just grinded my first 450 scripts, roughly 30 of the same item, close to 200 crafts to make these items, I cant wait to do this week after week, crafting a small variation of the same item week after week after week! I think im going to work on this before bed, forsure itll put me to sleep.

I was hoping that instead of purchasing all these items with the same tokens, theyd be put into the crafting log, with different combinations of mats making it interesting and unique like the level 55 gear. This is bland and boring, grind intensive, repetitive.

Not a fan of this system, nor the tome system either, grind the same dungeon over and over, pass on all the useless loot and obtain the same tome week after week to obtain armor that everyone else is using, like an ffxiv uniform.:confused:

You know today I got deep fried okeanis, this much like Marron Glace is not terrible. The mats can be gathered by a lvl 58 retainer which allows for 3 crafts an hour. Only issue is you need 45 crafts to cap, so it's a bit of a grind. I feel like I won't cap but it's a start.

I have been a crafter/gatherer since about 2 months after this game came out. Honestly I don't really do much else. I do not have a problem with the difficulty of crafting increasing. I enjoy difficulty. The issue I have is I am constantly waiting for crafting gear to catch up and be compatible with raiding gear. So far I hardly ever see this happen. SE claims that they do this to avoid selllable gear being the best because they think it will increase RMT. This change in fact will be what increases RMT. Materials on Lamia are going for 1-5 mil per mat. The crafted gear is going to be selling for tens of millions. This will greatly increase RMT transactions. Crafting is indeed dead and as a crafter I feel an empty 2 year long pit in my soul to a wasted game. I keep waiting for a change to happen and everyone keeps saying "wait for the next patch it will fix things". Well I am done waiting, I'm going back to EVE online.

I think it's time for me to tap out of crafting. This thing has become more of a chore/job than rewarding/fun. It feels like they went back to the 1.0 crafting style where crafting one thing took hours.

And in the end, what's the point? Crafting 40 turn ins is every week is the most boring thing, not to mention a waste of gil/time.

At least the end result of the convoluted 1.0 crafting process was highly desirable by other players.

I just don't understand why they need the red scrip turn in amounts to be so small. It's capped on a weekly amount. Couldn't they just increase the amounts per turn in or have a daily bonus like DoW/DoMs get for roulettes so that you could do 1 craft a day for your bonus and hit the cap doing that rather than doing 25?

At the very least increase the bonus you get for filling the collectability, especially for gatherer turn ins. Why would anyone even attempt to get higher than 470 for one extra scrip?

It's not difficult, just tedious and the rewards for doing more than the bare minimum requirement is rarely worth the extra crafting steps.

the real killer is the availability of mats. It's bad enough when the best you can do is only collect 15-30 of an item per hour. Now you're looking at a ton of pre-work for favours just to get anywhere near a node. You don't get to just craft/gather anymore, you get to grind grind grind just for the opportunity of getting a little craft/gathering done.

I absolutely dread to think what horrors they think they'll get away with next update/expansion. But I doubt I'll last that long.
