Op, if you are asking strangers about how to deal with a irl friend, I would suggest to evaluate your parameters of trust. Irl stuff always comes first. Do not follow the advice of a mmo community, it's like asking a bus driver for prescription of pills to cure an illness lol.

Well unless he bought a lot of gil pre abyssea in FFXI, he is lying because SE stamped out gil buying in FFXI. Or rather, its hard to get gil that way now.

Completely agree with this XD, and that bus driver is the MMO community while the supporters are telling you to throw him under it :)
