With so many great artists in here I was just wondering, how do you make your drawings digitally? Are you using some sort of electronic drawing pad? Any applications you use or would recommend for a beginner? I don't have any drawings to post but seeing all the nice art from everyone has gotten me interested in giving it a shot!
As another art form, I do like music a lot though and just thought I'd share a random song I wrote (forgive me, it's not FF related though):

You would have to ask some of the real artists for a final opinion; but for myself, I have started drawing on a tablet and it is a real quality of life improvement when working digitally. I use Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator CS6. The former I use normally, but the latter has a much nicer crisp look that I like (really it's a crutch for my terrible abilities XD).
For starting out, I would grab Gimp, since it is a good analog to Photoshop and it's free. If you like the way it feels, look into getting Photoshop Elements (cheap) or CS6 (much more expensive). Tablets are pretty pricy too if you're planning on just drawing casually, so you may want to consider just working with mouse and keyboard until you decide to take it to the next level. A nice middle ground is a trackball mouse. It takes a day or so to get used to, but the fidelity is much higher than that of a laser mouse and great for fine motor control.

I do all my art atm traditionally, I call my stuff doodles because I can do better once I have the means to do my work digitally and there are alot of mistakes I do while just drawing in ink and not using pencil sketches as a guideline to guide my quill.
While we're asking art advice; I know it's probably pretty tacky to ask to steal a palette, but I've always had a really hard time with skin tones (Yeah, I know I'm not the only one). I don't suppose any kind-hearted individual has a nice skintone palette lying around or knows where I can find one that would help me get a better feel for it?
Also, thanks for pointing out SAI, I had not heard of it, but I'll definately look into it as well.
I would definitely recommend a drawing pad of some kind, mice can only get you so far. (tablet, though if you can shell out the money for it, a screen tablet for sure.) Also, though I mainly draw for digital work, knowing to work by hand is great for practice.
I use either Manga Studio EX 4, or Photoshop CS5. Don't be too concerned with version numbers, they update like the dickens.(Though newer Manga Studio versions come with cropping, which is welcome.) There are also free options such as GIMP.
*posting so you'll see the signature again*
pahaha!
Here's the related scene: "One word and I'll hit you again."
Re-watched some more scenes and came to think that Jaime looks strange without a beard o.o

Ifrit from FFVIII doing his signature move, with my little flare mixed in. XD
Back, now i'm going to be the lazy person and take forever to look through the 600+ photos.
Be prepared though, i'm not going to hold back on the prairie dog shots. They were pretty dang cute. XD
We had a family outing.
My mother is a professional photographer. Well, prof is a strong word maybe, she has a degree, but doesn't work much. It's more of a hobbie..that she went to school for. Don't you love art degrees?.
Back to topic. She took shots of everything she liked, and those at different angles etc. And then I took a few myself.
It is funny though, I didn't really know we had a place like Devil's Lake* only 2 hours away ^^, beautiful area. Definitely going back sometime whenever I can. We hiked all day and couldn't get through all the trails.
She took way more than me of course. But we used the same camera so i'm not sure who's is who's. Still haven't started and Wolverine opens at the theater later today so i'm not sure if I should start.... /lazy
I'm going to sit here in my chair for awhile though. I'm not even in "bad" shape and i'm hurting.
*Yes, yes it is called Devil's Lake. Creepy name I know. Even creepier is that it keeps getting bigger and bigger swallowing small town whole.

Some XIV monsters.
Rahsh!
Really good stuff! I like it ^^ Keep it up =D
I can easily do 300+ in a single session when I'm not lazy and go out to do some nature/landscape photography.. out of which I might keep 30.. I've gotten very picky/critical of what I choose to keep.
The beauty/joy of digital photography, i.e. shoot often, combined with a decent workflow. ^^
Indeed. (^_^ ) I keep shooting pictures ever since i got my hands on a digital camera, even it if it's my dad's. Hehe. Still looking for a better digital camera for myself. Probably something like this:
A few photo's from my trip to Mallorca:
I like the short guy's style XD
*sigh* looks like I will have to watch this one too... once I have time...
I'm more or less bound FC-wise, but my LS spaces are free :PQuote:

Yeah... I remember film photography... where you had to agonize whether or not to take a picture and hope to take it right since you only had 36 pictures per film... and developing wasn't exactly cheap since you had to develop and print all of them even if it turned out some of them were bad.
I remember developing b&w film with my father though, was pretty interesting to do it yourself... mom wasn't impressed though since the developing solution left black stains on the bathtub xD
I'm using a canon 550D atm, pretty decent for its price and not really inferior to the 60D... all the 60D has is the rotating display and a bit faster shooting speed. About the only reason I went with a canon is because we already had several lenses for them, from the analog times. I hear Nikon is better bang for the buck though.
I'm using Olympus at the moment.. when I upgrade I'll be switching to Canon or Nikon.. Olympus has pretty much dumped their D-SLR camera line at this point in favor of their mirrorless cameras that mimic DSLRs..
