Took a lot of groups. but today I got my 500 Player Commendations and unlocked the Gilded Magitek Armor.

Not really crazy about the way Magitek mounts look. But I love mine, because it feels more earned. And it reminds me that I got it by making a positive contribution for other gamers.

I queue as a SCH for a lot of duties because I love its versatility. I've had Praetorium duties where I could sit in cleric stance 99% of the time, switching out only to supply succor and maybe a lustrate for someone who took a hit.

I've had Castrum duties where I go into a big pull and I have to drop cleric stance and focus on party heals, my co healer dies, I have to raise them, and use every trick I have to prevent more deaths. Tanks love those big pulls but not every group is created equal, not every tank can hold all the hate, and not every healer can prioritize a sudden influx of party wide damage. Healing and preventing dumb wipes comes first.

That is basically what I was saying. I have all 3 healer jobs at 60, all their job quests done. I enjoy DPSing as a healer too, but I know when to cut the crap and heal.

AST used to be my main healer job, but Wiping Shitty convinced me to switch to SCH because there is nothing better than deploying an Adlo crit and watching Ozma's meteors hit for nothing.

It's not really because they don't bother, but there are people who learn along the way and it's probably their first time seeing such skills. The darkside tooltips has "slowly drain MP" in it, with that much description, it's normal for one to think it maybe a debuff..

Monks have Steel Peak and shoulder tackle, Drgs have Leg Sweep, Wars have Brutal Swing, Nins have Juggulate (depending on poison used) Drks have Low Blow + Dark Dance is a DPS increase should you be spamming it? No. But you can tab target and stun others for 5 seconds and use it on bosses that don't require a perfect stun on an ability whenever it's up for Low Blow. If you don't use Steel Peak or Leg Sweep (as you are a drg main) or Juggulate it makes me wonder how you prioritize your DPS, I don't care if an add that's gonna be blown up in 5 seconds is stunned and dies before it even goes off my problem is raids/24 mans and when people overstun due to DR and you cannot stun the ability that needs to be stunned which is why I said you're not grasping what I was trying to say which many people have told you.

When the party wipes and you are the co healer and you're DPSing...sorry...but yeah ..it's kinda your fault.

If I ever dps in a full party as a WHM I look at their health pretty darn carefully.

When Im in a full group and the party is about to wipe, i certainly would not be casting stone 2

The other day me and 3 friends queued for an expert roulette.

Since we were all 4 slots occupied we were a bit carefree about life, so this time I said "nah, dont feel like tanking" and selected my monk job.
Problem was that we (despite being on TS) didn't get to tell who was going to play tanking.

Hence we ended up doing the Sorh kai thing dun with 3 DPS and 1 Healer...

It was an almost wiping mess for the most of the dun and I ended up tanking every boss anyway :|

So much for taking a break from tanking...

I guess saying, "Esuna please" wasn't enough.

Ran a sub 20 minute Hullbreaker HM. Tank loses hate to my BLM a few times. End of final boss, tank says "lol low dps" and leaves. He was not exactly helping the stereotype of rude French players...

Queued for mentor roulette on WAR and got Garuda Extreme. I was the only mentor in the party, a few people said they did the fight a long time ago, we had the new player bonus. The DRK asked me to MT and I said sure.

We got to the adds, then wiped because Chirada wasn't pulled far south enough. Re-buffed the party, offered tips and reminders, and jumped back in. Second attempt we got VERY far, but due to Spiny Plume's unfortunate early demise near the end of the fight (second Spiny, with Chirada + Suparna again) we wiped again.

The SCH and I reminded folks not to dps Spiny and avoid AOE when it was out. And I let folks know they were doing really well. (Esp compared to some Garuda EX parties if been in, sadly.)

Third time was the charm, and everything went very well. A couple of deaths in final phase but we recovered, our one melee did LB3, and four people got their first Garuda Extreme clear. Go team! It's always nice to get a cooperative, pleasant group that listens, learns from mistakes, and gets their win.

Queued for trial last night and got someone's first Final Steps of Faith, twenty minutes in. Uh-oh, I think. But from the moment the PLD did his ready check, we had a fairly stable run - a couple of deaths, to be sure - yet managed a clear with no wipe worthy issues.

Last night's mentor roulette was Garuda normal (plot) on my WHM which was hilarious after the other day. I had a PLD who forgot to turn on sword oath, a melee dps with all the hate, and a BRD who turned on Mage's ballad the second the barrier dropped. We wiped very quickly because of no tank stance. PLD turned on Shield Oath, I asked BRD not to play MB, and it was smooth sailing from there.

1st, nowhere have I ever seen someone say that Leg Sweep should be part of a DRG rotation. If you find a guide that says otherwise I'd like to see it.

2nd, referring to your quoted snip - I believe you are misunderstanding me. Because stuns should be saved for bosses and mobs that need to be interrupted, if everyone in the group knows that and has it ready for the mob that needs it, but nobody pipes up with a stun order, who is supposed to use theirs 1st? The point is that if you don't set a stun order then there is nobody to blame, because you run the risk of DR when everyone uses it at the same time.

Where I find they really struggle is Shiva and Ramuh EX. I've yet to be in a group that was able to clear, and had a few Shiva groups even run out the timer. :(

If it does damage and it's off the global cooldown, dps are going to use it. Only certain enemies need to be stunned. Not everyone knows what those enemies are. And not everyone is a dungeon junkie who runs content over and over again on every job and can tell you which specific mobs need to be stunned and which action or cast indicates the stun is required. Most people would need to be told to hold the stun.

And it goes both ways. Not all tanks know what to hold stuns for either.

I was in an Aurum Vale with a tank who was using his stuns to damage, and Coincounter got stun resistant, so sadly my attempt to NIN- stun the Swing ended in death.

I've cleared everything in mentor roulette except Ramuh Ex and Moogle Ex. It would be nice if they made it a requirement to have more mentors in the ex primals than just one. I've been in them a few times where I was the only mentor and everyone else is running around like crazy. Not fun.

Oh man, for one Shiva I came in progress on dps. It was a sad few people twenty or so min in progress. Ended up leaving and coming back on tank. Another mentor left and came back on heals. Party filled up with mentors and FC mates of mentors. Still couldn't clear...

I get what you are saying about the whole DR issue with everyone using it and in a PUG it's pretty impossible for people to co-ordinate it honestly depends on the fight some can be stunned some can't like Aurum Vale is probably one of the first times when saving your stun for Glower, 1000 Tonz Swing that can kill everyone but most of the time people just blow through the boss and stun anyways. The point I was trying to make is that by not using your stuns you're losing quite a bit of DPS by not using stun based attacks Leg Sweep 130 potency + with Heavy Thrust and Disembowel, Steel Peak 140 potency + Dragon Kick + Greased Lightning, Juggulate 80 potency + Dancing Edge + Poisons.

It just really bugged me that you said you can't use it in a rotation yet there's a rotation with Leg Sweep in it I got your last point with saving a stun for certain attacks, I get that. My point was with PUGs and not being able to co-ordinate a stun rotation because people don't want anything that involves extending their roulettes, and the issue with using stuns in your rotation. You lose ALOT of DPS by not using Leg Sweep in your rotation so you might want to reconsider using it even if you do stun a mob it's still worth it as a DPS there's no instant death mechanics in 60, expert roulette, 50 etc only in raids and extremes so even if you do mess up and get hit you won't die (Except for Aurum Vale as I noted up top). You might want to read up on the Dragoon guide and have a better understanding of Leg Sweep as well as Monks Steel Peak and Nins Juggulate they're all OGCD and DPS increase if you say they aren't i'll prove you wrong since 0 DPS by not using them isn't more DPS then if you use them.

I;m going to have a meltdown from laughing here, even before I cleaned up my rotation going into Heavensward as new dragoon main I used Leg Sweep as free bonus dps and still do pretty much every time it's off CD; it ain't some kind of devil's magic to keep your finger of the key/button combo assigned to your stun/silence when you know you got a mob/mechanic coming up that requires a stun/silence. It's not that deep - but expecting everyone in duty finder to even care is like expecting people who pass my garden when my sister and I watch the bunnies outside to realise that these giant lobs of meat are indeed bunnies and not small dogs and that we frankly don't wanna hear their "those are gonna be one big dinner" comments once we politely tell them that those are a certain breed of bunnies, not dogs.

Back on topic, did Weeping City as tank for the first time, and the only thing I learned is that I'm never gonna tank again, ever. Made a fool of myself during Forgall because I died to my add in panic (of all alliances I had to be A; aka the one add I fear the most) - then Main Tank died to Hellwind, I took over and suddenly when they were raised again they were... fighting me for aggro. Quite weird. Never gonna tank in there again, it'll make me sleep easier at night.

Got cutter's cry with a lvl 43 Gladiator tank. She does not have any other class leveled besides that, and she never once used flashed and kept attacking single targets. My boyfriend and I being mentors tried to teach her how enmity works and advised she swap her DPS gears to vit gears when we get out but she does not respond to anything and just ran around, dying all over the place. So half the time, I (SCH) spent time tanking (while kiting) mobs after she was dismissed after the first boss.

A few snippets from the last couple of weeks:

- A newbie tank in potd took his job a little too seriously. Got pissed off and left the party after DPSes and healer ran off to clear mobs. This was in the 1st 10 floors, and mobs are a joke on those floors. Basically, he was unhappy because tanks should always hit first! I hope he had better luck with his next run....

- I ASTed for Wiping and my co-heal, who is also an AST, kept overriding my Arrows and Balances at Calo with Spires. Her reason? People need TP to run away from mechanics. I don't even...

- Weekly reset CT runs. I have a big issue with parties that don't bother with mechanics. Sure, there are some parts where you can just bruteforce your way through, but......... sure, go ahead and stand in the Flare/Death aoe circle trying to squeeze off more dps, or ignore skeleton mobs on bone dragon.

- Gubal this morning with a BLM that only casted F3 and Flare over and over. After flare goes off, she stands there for a good few seconds before hitting Transpose and does nothing til MP goes back to full, then F3 and Flare, and wash rinse repeat. Unfortunately, there was no response when the monk tried to teach her basic AoE rotations, so......... oTL

Palace of the Dead.
Floors 31-40 (the hardest section)
Members: Ninja (me), Bard, Black Mage, and a Rogue.
Wait, a rogue? Yes, a Rogue.

The last time I had a DPS only party on floors 31-40, 2 of the DPS immediately left. Hadn't even left the first room. But no one leaves this time.
We kill our first mob, but of course the damage is hard.

Then I realize the benefit of this rogue in the party.
I asked the rogue if they can cross class Protect and Raise. They do.

By using potions, Shadeshift, and the stun ability, we were able to clear it with 20 minutes to spare and very few deaths. The Rogue's cross class Raise was very helpful when two of us did die and no one had any Phoenix Downs.

Thankfully, the last boss does very little damage and with our DPS we were able to take it down before the adds even spawned.

I wish more people understood that if Palace of the Dead is soloable, it is definitely doable with 4 DPS.

It's not uncommon for people to start PoTD before they get their job (ie level 15+). But once you start it as that class you're stuck like that, it won't let you continue if you insert a soulstone.

Ah, thanks for that information. I've been doing the Palace of the Dead a lot recently, but I've only seen people without a soul stone twice. Once an archer and today's Rogue, so I thought it was kind of rare.


Time for another story:
We had 3 Rages and were on the 36th floor of the dungeon. There were a lot of enemies and the Passage was in the middle of the map.
We hadn't cleared any rooms yet.
I waited a while, wondering if someone else might use a Rage. No one did, just running around in circles, everyone unsure which way to go first (There were 3 different paths from the start area.)
There are equal treasure chests on both sides.
So I use it, and I head east.

The Monk gets angry and says "I really wanted you to use that in this direction, you know." (He means west direction)
I said "If you don't say anything, I can't possibly know that."

He was silent for the rest of the dungeon.
But then on floor 38, when there were only 2 mobs left. He used a Rage, killed them, and dispelled it. I mean, if you're going to be nitpicky, that's fine, but then to be passive-aggressive about it too? I don't know...

I got the other two people's commendations in the end.

I had a smn the other day holding the party hostage because apparently floors 41-50 aren't possible without a healer...
She runs in after barrier goes down, straight into a group of mobs "Let's just die", dies and from then on refuses to accept any raise from the other smn (party was me on mnk, smn, smn, blm).
She also wouldn't leave as we asked her to, "I will get penalty if I leave, you guys are being selfish". Rest of us cleared the whole floor while she was lying there, and when we saw that we couldn't get past the teleport because she was still KO, I reported her. I told her that we wouldn't kick her with that childish logic and that it was her that was being not only selfish but ignorant, not even trying first before condemning the whole party. It's not a secret now that you can clear the entire Palace without heals or without tanks or even without dps. SE designed it specifically with that purpose. But no, this smn was being stubborn. So I said, with that logic of not wanting the penalty, I will wait out 30 mins and then kick her. Her reply: "Ok, whatever, I'll go afk then"
/facepalm. So she didn't want to leave to avoid 30 mins penalty but was fine waiting out the kick after half an hour?
We waited, killed some respawns, and after 30 mins were over, my report was made (got a few answers back from the GM, thank you!) we decided to abandon and start over. We couldn't possibly clear 9 floors in 30 mins. Guess now she was right lol...

I feel sorry for the blm and smn that actually tried. The poor smn kept raising her and asking her to please accept the raise, while the blm was shocked that in 9 months that he's been playing the game, this was the first player he encountered like this. Both had a leaf, and I commented that I looked the dead smn up, she had one 60, not much else above 20 if unlocked even but didn't have a leaf. I said she looks like a new player, blm goes "so am I". I cried inside. I hope these guys got the clear and don't encounter any more rotten apples in future ;_;

I have only ever done PotD with friends so far, so this might be a stupid question, but... are mobs somehow harder when you go in with DF/random people? I keep reading this stories about how people are being little crybabies about party composition and yet my last run of 41-50 was with a friend, he on smn, I on bard, no one else around and it took us like... 30 minutes or so? So... did I missed something?

Had a leveling roulette last night with the wife (SMN) and an FC mate who's still very new to DRK, and we end up in Qarn. We get a random bard who, according to my tank buddy, was pulling mobs, and seemed to be in a rush. Bad stuff happens with Doom on the first boss and we end up wiping. Bard leaves and we get another summoner. The other summoner isn't throwing Dots around with Bane, but that's fine because my FC mate is still struggling with DRK early game and doesn't have it down yet. Doesn't matter, things are dying fast anyway. We cleared the dungeon easily. I don't get why people have to give up after one wipe like that bard did. If he was in such a hurry, he'd have been far better off staying with us than signing up for a 30 minute penalty.

In matched party, the pomanders dont get carried on to later set of floors unlike how it does in fixed party. Then again all the randomness from players' playstyle always hindrance teamwork. Like that time when there was a single enemy about 5 or so level ahead of us, a dps tried to solo it ended up dead, me as a healer raised that player and warned them to avoid that mob. The player said "oh ok.. Didnt notice the level diference." the next thing i know the other DPS pulled it and let me tanked it as a healer until it was dead..

I only do PotD (and pretty much all content in general period) with friends. Its just more fun and less stress that way for me. So I guess in a way going in DF does make thing harder, just because its the people that make things harder then it needs to be.

I queued for Void Ark last night separately from my FC leader/static main healer and we ended up in two different alliances. He jokingly trash talked me, telling C that we had a terrible tank, that I wouldn't be able to hold hate, etc. What followed was an extremely smooth, fast run. At the trash before sawtooth, our Morbol spawned and died first. I claimed and tanked Sawtooth. (My group expressed some skepticism: arent you the bad tank??) Our hound never did Abyssal Cry. The PLD who'd been MT offered me MT role for Cuchulainn, which I took - always nice to get those reprisal procs. And at Echidna I got Dexter all the way right, and grabbed adds immediately to keep them off the healers.

Was happy to tell my healer I left that Void Ark with six comms. 8D

Sure, they were probably in a group, but they didn't have to comm me.

Queuing for Weeping City alone, tossed into a party with a friends friend and his six friends. Second time I've gotten full 7 comms.

Their cleanse isn't till about 40...
But, on the bright side, Selene gets one around 20...

There is a reason why I hate doing Brayflox NM on SCH ._.
There is just so much poison thrown around, and you have close to no way to cleanse it :/

Library. We wiped on the first boss (my fault). I lagged and got stuck on the boss when it turned sideways and I was unable to make it on the other side on time. But both DPS went down very soon after for not avoiding AoEs.

Now after that wipe, we had a smooth run until the last boss where we wiped again near killing that sucker. I've run Library a few times and I know to kite away when you get marked (void sent light, I think is the name when it hurls you some orb thing?) and then stand in the middle of the circles when it lights up. Anyways, the tank insisted to make sure the orb (I think she confused it with the second boss where you have to walk the white orb through the boss) has to be in the middle. But instead of bringing it to the middle, I stuck the red orb at the end of the room, and tank just typed ".....".

So when I got marked again, I brought it to the middle just as she asked and she did it again. ".....". And I'm standing there wondering what the hell is her problem but couldn't ask because everyone taking too much damage that I can't even run to the circles when it lit. I had had runs where I am able to run to those no problem as a healer.

I was in cutters cry today, and the tank got angry at me for not commendatimg him. He just stood there yelling at me to com him, and leave the instance. My response was "brb sandwich." When I got back there were at least three paragraphs on why I was such a loser, before he gave up and left. I didn't care. My sandwich was pretty good. It was teriyaki, with delicious lettuce, toasted bread, and Japanese sauce. I even prepared some green tea. Screw drama, make sandwiches. :p ;)
