Dragoons: A Rotation Reborn

Based on the original comment I'm gonna wager a guess (read: hope) that it was just about maximizing dps vs "clearing the fight."

If it is the latter then...rip.

All DPS or nothing. Are we Dragoon, or pansies?

I cleared it day two and I definitely held jumps then, and I still do now because we still tank it on the puddle (fml)

just dont jump into the pool if you have vuln up. perfectly fine otherwise

Nah, DPS isn't the problem; I don't have a static ATM so I'm stuck PFing it, but the groups I've been with have all had only about 5-6 stacks on the boss by the time the adds die. The DPS is just fine, it's people messing up tethers and the like in the final phase that always does it. My logic is more DPS = Imdugud dies faster = fewer chances for people to screw up. I only hold my jumps now because I've had a couple of healers get grumpy about it when I didn't, even though I don't always take any damage when I do it.

I do the spreading the DoTs on the son/daughter thing and I've found that works quite well, as the daughter always dies before the dots fall off the son so I can just switch to him and continue my rotation there. I'll try those other suggestions, though-- thanks!

Does anyone have, or know of a Zeta weapon which had 40-43 ACC/CRT Melded at Novus? (So 48-51 Zeta), 1-4 ACC/CRT, and maxed out DET?

Might of found a meld which gives better results than a full DET/CRT Zeta.

Yup, which is how I came up with this spear in question. I also asked in that thread, so let's see if I get any replies...

The Spear in question is 4 ACC, 48 CRT, 38 DET on ZETA.

When the weight of SS changed to 0,176? I think I missed that.

When Sunny noticed an inconsistentcy with EMXs model related to DoT clipping. It's still up in the air really, but Sunnys fix is a lot more "realistic".

I'm on the Alexandrites step now, so I think I'll wait the results of this researches...

Indeed. 422 DET is strong.

You don't even need melded gloves for the set, again, if those relic melds are possible. I also think you can go as low as 46 CRT on that relic, in case the melds aren't what I thought they'd be.

Tbh, if you're doing your Zodiac/Zeta now, or you have too much cash on your hands, yeah, I guess it would be a feasible set to go for. Everyone else should just wait until 3.1 and see what happens.

I'm a bit lost on all that math, just gave a quick shot on the links, but I'm on the meld process now, and I'm aiming for full Crit/Det. You advise me to wait or do something diferent? Right now I'm with the 410 Det Not-crafted Bis (With Dread helm and Black Risotto). I don't intend to craft more gear, just to have the best Weapon as possible to the expansion, but I don't fell like waiting until 3.0/3.1 to finish it.

I meant, if you already have your Zodiac/Zeta, there's no point in remelding your spear and wasting all that money again for a 1 DPS increase.

As for whether you should go for a DET/CRT or what I've theoretically calculated... I'd wait until you've gotten all 75 Alexandrites first. You can meld max DET onto it if you'd like (31 DET), but I'm waiting for more reports from other people before I make that the "Official" Cost:DPS BiS.

Ok, thank you :D I have 51 Alex melded so far, and 1 or 2 Det IV but no Crit IV so far, If i'm not mistaken.

If you're referring to add ACC to a CRIT/DET relic you don't need to do a brand new scroll, you can erase a single point and add it in another stat.

Currently doing zodiac on 2nd mahatma. With a 31/44 nexus spear. Should I hold off on zeta when I finish all 12 and wait for further research?

Nah. You can easily respec Zeta just like everything Novus onwards if you need to.
You can even copy your 31/44 stats onto a sphere scroll and toss it in a retainer for safekeeping if you do actually want to play around with stats later.

You've never seen SpeedRun parses before have you? I've seen people pull much higher DPS than those posted.

Short fight = high burst = less time where your GCDs aren't buffed. Especially true if you're ending on a B4B rotation with Jumps and stuff. MNK kinda suffers in short parses due to how their DPS works (sustain vs burst), whereas DRG benefits greatly due to most of their damage being front loaded. The shorter fights get, the more burst heavy jobs become powerhouses.

That being said we can still take off around 30 more seconds, if not more. There's 40 more DPS to be had on the BRD, and ~120 om the BLM

120 on the BLM ? Do you do the stacking method ? There's no way a BLM is doing 620 without the adds stacking. My highest without the adds stacking is 550 with LB 3(1 death towards the end, a charge+tether and no Nin) and 592 without LB and Nin. And I am a full i130 with Zeta.

With the stacking method, 620-630 sounds reasonable but I just cant see how its possible without.

That 120 would be from Add stacking, yes. Theory being that in a Vanilla speedkill without stacking, the BLM's strong suit is really just the AoE LB3.

I think woth my groups DPS, add stackingbwould be more than 30 seconds, TBH, since we'd get and lb2 and an lb3 (total of 60K damage or so) on the boss that we wouldnt otherwise.
