So, even if your isp doesnt completely block net traffic, it will slow down data transfer rate if arr is considered p2p and they have data rate regulations for it? Well this may be the cause of all my delays then, even tho they are not that long for me, at least not anymore. During 1.0 I was r0'ing constantly. I'm on a 50mbit connection with them too. I'll call them myself, but also leave this here:
ISP: cox cable
Country: USA
Freq: always
- Shaw
- Canada
- Feels like always, particularly bad during peak hours
- No reference number
- Name of ISP: Virgin Media
- Country of Residence: UK(England)
- When does the problem occur (always, only during specific times?): Between 4pm and 10pm BST (GMT+1) which is UK peak time.
- Reference number from your ISP, if you raised this matter with them: None
^ basicly, as raised during version 1.0 of the game, P2P including many games not just FFXIV get restricted bandwidth, not only during peak times but also if the daily usage exceeds 4gig (or 6gig in some areas of UK) known as the 'fair use' policy. I am thankful that the team are now keeping updates much smaller is size than the previous version. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about the peak-time P2P restrictions.
edit: the frequency with which I see the red 'losing connection' icon next to my character's name is far more since the maintenance of Wednesday morning so possibly a server load issue than my ISP.
Location: Japan, Okinawa
ISP: NTT/OCN
Always lag spikes
I called and talked to my ISP today and they said they do not have any restrictions for p2p and that they do not throttle or limit my internet speed. They also observed my connection and did not notice any issues. As Final Fantasy is the only game that gives me these issues, I think its safe to say it's something with their servers, not the ISP's of the 100's of people posting here.

6 and a half days in and this is the best you guys can come up with at this point? Are you serious?
The problem is at your end. We've already concluded this days ago and even discussed it in other threads.
So much for professionalism.

6 and a half days in, the other thread gets locked. Well atleast his apology will get me back those 6 and a half days.. OH WAIT.
Will the players that suffered from these problems and were unable to fully play the game be compensated? Not asking for 6-7 days here but a compensation for the loss of trial days due to this issue would be appropiate.
ISP: Verizon Fios
Name: Karm Alyss
Country: USA (Northern VA)
Occurrence: Always, began within the last couple days. Had been perfectly fine before this point.
Just a question, if the issue is caused by ISPs why did we all get this issue suddenly and only with ffxiv and not all ppl having this issue but yet having the same isp?
Also why is the issue gone when using a vpn, does not seem logical to me.
ISP: Time Warner Cable
Country: USA (San Diego, Ca)
Occurrence: Hours between midnight and 3am (pst) intermittently for about 15 minutes at a time
Reference #: I called but didn't write it down, they did put my modem on "hardware watch" but now I see the modem isn't the problem...
so using a VPN is safe and they cannot sniff your user/password, right? :)

Concerning this matter, there is a long history in France between some ISP such as Orange and Free with the "transit provider" (fournisseur de transit) named Cogent. So i m pretty sure that when we send data to the server and when the server sends us some data then if it goes through the Cogent network then we ll have latency spikes.
Yesterday i tried to complet the fight vs Titan with some other players from Europe (1 player from Finland, Spain, UK and me from France). And it was a HUGE pain in the a** to complet this fight because even if we were outside of some AOE attacks, the server acted as if we were still in it from time to time. And when your screen freezes for 0.2-0.5s during the fight or when the server doesn't see you being outside of an AOE it ends badly... It was a really frustrating fight because the difficulty wasn't coming from the boss itself but from the latency.
And as an European player i m really disapointed by Square-Enix as far as i ve read that European servers where located in Canada ! Do you guys know your geaography ? Canada is VERY far away from Europe. How could it be ok to have EU servers located in North America if you want to have a low latency ? Anyway, if such a matter still occurs for the high lvl content then i already know that me and people from my guild won't stay as far as it won't be possible to play and fight bosses without being killed by the latency.
- RCN (PA)
- USA
- Major lag spike minutes after logging in; then anywhere from 30-45 mins of lag surges and sudden kickout from 90000.
does not matter if in town in heavily trafficked areas or out in area where very few people are.
Country: Australia
ISP: Optus
Occurence: All the time since the 2nd. Mostly in Duty Finder though, keep having constant delays of about 3-6 seconds. Could be congestion but I've had very little problems with lag and not this often in the 10 years I've been playing online, and beta/OB/EA was fine too.
- Shentel
- USA (VA)
- Always play for about 10 mins or less then get booted with a 90000, be about anywhere including house.
- Called shentel about the problem and they reset my router on their end with no real effect. The tech support ticket was 285864
ISP: GLB/NTT
Country: Japan
Occurrence: September 3 (after Maint.) and all of the time. On all characters everyday.
ISP: RDS/RCS
Country: Romania
Occurance: Anytime
ISP:YAHOO BB
Country:Japan
Occurance: Every 5-10 mins after maintenance on 3rd september, was fine before that.
Also I have started using a uk proxy server and have had no DC's no 90000 error so its not my ISP, its something to do with me being in Japan and connecting to a NA/EU server it must be clientside.

^That... It's not a problem with the ISPs.
also didn't SE release a help page about downloading the patcher initially that had this exact line in it:
"*Your internet provider may prevent transmission through P2P functions.
*The P2P function is only used to transmit update data.
It is not used for any other transmission."

Feel very strongly that this isn't our ISPs or else my friends who are playing on exact same providers with exact same service plans would be having the same issues. It hasn't been happening since the beginning (like almost everyone has stated). It has only starting since around the beginning of September for the most part. Please convey some sort of plan to us or at least a more thorough acknowledgment. Oh and so I can give you the useless information that won't help solve the problem so as to follow this threads request:
Currently: Mediatti Broadband Communications
Location: Japan, Okinawa
Occurence: Always since around 1730 September 2 (JST)
Reference #: I did not bring it up with them because it is not an issue with them when several of my friends are using their service and aren't having a problem (wired or wireless).
Also...
Info for when I am back in the US because I am probably going to be having same issue:
US Service: Cox Communications
Location: Nebraska USA
i'm speaking on behalf my whole country as we have this problem with most of our games except a few games that took action and did something about it
as we always get categorized as part of the EU Region i find it ironic that i get the worst latency in this game from the EU servers while NA is lower and JP is ever lower thus most of my country players are considering to move to JP servers
when you guys launch the server transfer service our due to game mechanics we can't get out of bosses Red areas in time causing us to wipe our parties and cause bad experience for the whole community of players we play with
and it's already too much frustrating for us imagine doing a boss 30+ time but you cant kill it even when you get out of the marked area you still get hit and trust me i developed some instant reflections to RUN OUT ASAP and i still get hit :(
we had this problem even in another games like *cough* WoW , LoL , ..etc *cough* but the issues were addressed and our latency went down to 120 from 300+ meanwhile we are getting in the EU servers (380+) and NA servers (290+) while we get around 200 in JP servers clearly japan is our best choice if this doesn't get fixed but we will still have the same problems never the less i hope i explained where we stand as as someone who REALLY wants to enjoy the game as Mr.Yoshida and his deveopment team wants their game to be played and enjoyed and also give us a fair chance to go for those breaking records maybe who know but i want a fair chance :) then i might give it a shot lol again thx for the great game and for the support and thanks for LISTENING TO US and CARING about your players i hope you guys always keep this level of communication with your players !!

Hello, decided to post even though I know that my isp doesn't throttle p2p 100%, but maybe something changed or well...might be easier to fix.

Issue started after the Sept. 4th patch. Had no issues during beta or Early Access.
As of 9/1/13 I have been experiencing this 90000 connection lost issue. My client would freeze roughly 5-10s and boot me off back to the Start Menu.
My ISP is: Verizon Fios
Location: Florida,USA
Connection Speed: 60 Down 30 Up
Modem: MI424WR-GEN3I
-RCN
-USA Eastern Pennsylvania
-About every 2 min. Lasting up to 10 seconds. Ever since I joined beta in phase 3. Got worse since phase 4.
-Behemoth any zone.
When it happens in an instanced dungeon, there is a chance I will come out of sync with the group. And not be able to target party members. I can temporarily fix if I force a DC and re log in.
