Here's hoping! Fingers crossed for info, either from LL or patch notes...
I would not get your hopes up, 100% sure they will do 0 until next expansion. No Gnb new sounds, no monk rework and no substantial changes of any job. It's the perfect time to play other games, specially for those who already finished the current raid tier.
Regardless, I know it seems hopeless and we'll often forget or not feel like trying, but even so submit a suggestion every now and again. Even if it's as lazy as "fix GNB SFX" or "why do GNB SFX sound like a blunt object instead of a sword?" or anything within the parameter of showing SE we actually do notice an issue.... I'll even admit I've sent in just plain "FIX GNB SOUNDS" by itself sometimes.... other times I submit what seems like a documentary script about it. Don't give up.
I expected nothing, because they already showed us that they don't care about us or our feedback. Only about money. Money, money, money. Money. Before people come here to say that making games is about money - some developers also can put some heart, passion, and effort into their work, but times when Square Enix did that are already gone.
What we can do is keep that topic alive and send in game suggestions. Eventually use twitter, but it seems no one beside me is interested in it. But i'm not going to give up so quickly. Not until i find better MMO (considering drought on MMO market FFXIV is just the least bad, not the best game).
Oh no I missed anniversary of this thread starting and remaining on the front page of the tank forum for an entire year. Freaking sad stuff dude. I'm not feeling confident that they'll ever fix this issue :(
Gonna stop you right there my dude and take your tantrum throwing self over to any Live Letter where Yoshi P is actively monitoring the chat, or the Eureka thread where feedback was SO negative, he responded on in said thread.
Also, the biggest "they" here is Soken, for lead sound design. Know who the manager is before acting like a Karen.
Yeah I lost all hype for 5.3 after reading the prelim notes. Very disappointing :(
You can't blame her for that response. Even after we submitted a question directly to the SFX changes, they still ignored it and pushed it away without any real answer. "They" is more than Soken, it's their whole sound development team or hell how about the team that just goes through the forums every other weekend to see wtf the community is talking about? No responses, no replies, no care. They really don't considering this has been ongoing for a year now but hey, 3 weeks into a new expansion, DROP EVERYTHING apparently because of 1-2 small short-lived threads?.... Sure, ok.
Nope.
So, I guess it's just another patch without effort again.... It is definitely looking like we very well may have to wait until next expansion, I still refuse to give up regardless. They just plain sound bad, there's nothing even complicated or more to it... The fact people make memes saying you need to have a mod installed to play the job only carries the idea further that the SFX changes weren't in everyone's best interest.
Wow, it has been a year now since 5.0 released! It's kinda weird how in 2 weeks with only a few people complaining about the SFX they can change them in a heartbeat but here we are after 1 year and nothing has changed after majority supporting the rolling back of SFX to the previous one. Likewise most of the JP community supports the previous SFX too.
Its not looking good, but we have to keep pressure. Especially because a lot of people joined after 5.01, so they assume GNB was always a club wielder, so they maybe are not nearly as annoyed as we are.
Remember about weekly in-game suggestions. I'm sure GMs have to view them and pass to dev team, so even if they keep ignoring us, we at least send the message.

Super minor information and tidbits from Patch Notes reading
[omissions due to relevance]
Job balance wise
- There will be no more Tank firepower adjustments throughout the remainder of 5.x
- Monk revamps are slated for Patch 5.4, as stated before.
- Other jobs that didn't receive any changes in Patch 5.3 are currently monitored.
my take? They're done touching tanks. See y'all in 6.0 and all the mess that'll bring.
Firepower doesnt mean sfx that's all.
Yep. I would be willing to bet that they aren't doing anything, but it's still possible that they could revert it at some point. They might also do it without saying anything and tuck it under the many issues they address (some of which simply aren't mentioned by default). Hard to say really, but I know where I'd put my money.
Well I kill the skeptic in you with the hope from me. Knowing so long as there isn't just one will, but multiple wills longing for change and taking action to be heard, we still always have a chance. I sent in another 4 suggestions today and I'll continue to send them in.
God I feel like I can barely hear my own attacks in dungeons... I literally can't tell sometimes and it's forcing me to check my skill bar... I hate it. If I were using mods which I am not, I doubt they'd even work since the update added new SFX to our new content so there isn't any way to hear the good SFX + the new contents sounds. *cough*
What new content sounds are removed if someone were to illegally modify their files? (I do not endorse such actions.)
Any new in combat sounds generally vanish, such as in combat dialogue of bosses or sounds of their wepons, if one were to be so foolish as to modify their game files illegally (which I do not endorse), the general rule of always create backups should be followed, or wait until such a time where no sounds would be removed
But I imagine whoever makes them is keeping them up to date..... imagine if they got them working today. But yeah no, we just have to suffer the horrifying gunbreaker sounds being blunt as hell I guess. I'm still submitting suggestions daily, sometimes multiple a day. Hoping that ya know... SOMEONE goes "they got a point" and considers doing something or at least telling us "we're not doing that" or whatever, just a dang response would be dope...
Hi, err even with the reveal of FF16...I still would like to say that I would like the previous keen edge combo SFX back at least. Thanks ;)

The original sound effects just as a listen... I don't miss fated circle but I miss just about everything else.
Stop necroing your dead thread. It’s been over a year now. You’ve beaten a dead horse so long even the flies have moved on.
Some of us still care about this issue. Go yell at the people still pissed off at Dark Knight and tell them they're also necroing their thread too, then.
The sad part is that I actually agree that the new sounds are terrible but you’ve all come across as such petulant whiners that I find it nearly impossible to sympathize with you. From all your petty vitriol the only thing you’ve accomplished is saying “I don’t like thing.” The staggering lack of awareness from this thread is bordering on comical. It’s like toddlers throwing down their toys because they don’t like the color of their power rangers.
Its been over a year, you made your statement. Grow up and let better issues get attention. Or be laughably predictable and throw a tantrum.
Giving constructive feedback and a list of how changes could be made to better for both sides to be happy = whining/tantrum?
Those that care about the SFX have had their say and kept the thread on track, but you and several others have come in and attacked/told us to "give up" for having an opinion. Every issue is an important one, no matter how much this one may not be to you.
I find it hilarious when it's the devs who were encouraging feedback on this on PLL and then we have people like you that have nothing to contribute but insults throwing. Irony is real huh?
Look, if you don't like what you read don't click onto this post. Nobody is forcing you to do this. We are keeping this alive just to let the devs know that hey we still need some changes here.
That means guiving up, i we do that for better issues what will happen ? Nothing will change. Maybe there's some whiners in here (idk i don't read every message), but not everyone is like that. Some ppl just try to guive feedback instead of doing nothing.
Plenty of players here didn't just say " i don't like thing " : gnb sounds like blunt object, has lost every metallic sounds (like moving a gun around), the sound are muffled overall etc ... So it's not just " i don't like thing ", some ppl tried to explain why they didnt like the new sounds.
But yeah maybe you right and we should all say noghting more, ignore gnb until something good happens (if it happens) and play something else.
So GNB can experience the same kind of """"betterment"""" that DRK players did going in to 5.0? Nah.
The more the devs hear "we aren't satisfied and want change" is the only way things can improve, and unlike DRK this is a straight to the point, single issue that can easily be remedied.
It never left the first page of tanks. It's not a necro.
I think with the replies you've gotten, you see better now that we actually want to see a change. Your comments don't do anything here, I would like to preserve the job's future so that when we see next expansion's "job showcase" that our skills aren't using a mallet made of cardboard. You can carry on with your opinion of the forum community but there's plenty of others who aren't even on the forums who feel this way too and want the change. They too have "given up" on the concept and think that being complacent with what we have is easier than just committing a little effort towards making a change or statement. Belittle what you want, but there's nothing wrong with being determined and passionate about wanting to make something as good as it should be.
It never left the front page because you kept necro-ing it whenever it died. Pathetically self-promoting your own thread does not make it relevant.
Don't project your own ill-informed opinion onto me. You belittle yourself every time you exercise such a profound lack of self-awareness that it genuinely invalidates any potential argument you could have had. A cursory look through your post history shows you trying to tell other people to stop their threads for 'being too old.' You're a hypocrite, and a pitiable one at that. You've conflated spiteful arrogance with virtuousness and tried to condescend to me with no remote shred of integrity.
The mere fact that someone who agrees with the opinion about the class's sounds but has no respect for any of it's proponents should tell you something. But it won't - because the type of person to perpetuate a dead thread no one cares about for a year has no experience with introspection.
