QQ'ing aside since they said this would be a gift and I guess people have a hard time discerning what a gift is...

Any pre-reqs for this mount? Like do we need to have a personal chocobo already to be eligible for this mount? The chocobo quest line was so boring and tedious that I'm really having a hard time finding motivation to do it again for my mule account. This being a 'gift' for my mule account would be great as I would be EXTREMELY happy not to have to do 3x the same basic quest for a personal chocobo. Also, will the speed of this mount be equal to the chocobo? Would be kinda silly to have this mount be slower than the chocobo from an in-game aspect even though I would think realistically a chocobo would be faster.

They should have used Fat Chocobo for the music when ridding the gobbue lolz

I would suggest they just make the "chocobo" button in the micro menu become a "call mount" button for those who have unlocked a 2nd mount, which would then trigger a small popup window of "Which mount will you call?", much like the popup for choosing which retainer to summon.

This is one of our rewards, our gifts for playing and hanging onto the game for so long. take the mount and shush! PS3 users and new 2.0 players may not even get a chance at this.

I like this idea but let's build on that an instead they add a section where you can set which mount the button at the bottom summons instead of making us choose every single time. The small inconvenience's this game has bugs me the most.

Check out 9th image on there the bottom row there is call and this isn't only for chocobo :)

Isn't this what SE was going to give those of us who stuck with the game as a thank you? Something unique for those who still play. It seems some ppl tend to forget this was an in-game reward like the Charity Cap ffxi players got for donating crysta to the earthquake relief fund was. We are being thanked for our continued loyalty and playing through all the crap we've had to deal with since the game was released.
I can understand ppl wanting a quest to get the mount, I'm sure SE considered that as an option, but possibly decided not to because this is a thank you from them. Just a thought.

Wait so we just talk to an npc? That's kinda lame. How come there is no quest to get the new mount. I want to put at least some effort into getting fun and or unique item like the new mount.

I'm happy for the free mount, but kinda wish there was a story, with an objective and a few cutscenes, like maybe somewhere in limsa a guy has been studying the goobues, turns out their not all violent monsters, you go on a quest to investigate a disturbance, end up saving a goobue whos under attack by other goobues or humans or whatever, then he becomes your friend. Seriously if we keep getting mob mounts (specificly ones from FFXI) imma name them after FFXI NMs, I could end up calling a drake Fafnir or Niddhog even though there a lil different.

Need a scorpion mount for me to call Serket, I beat him that many times to get my damn ring he should do everything I say.

A Goobue mount? I'm sorry but I think it's a bit silly. Someone much earlier in the thread mentioned they are all for new mounts so long as they are not ridiculously stupid... I'd say running around on a giant modified Bulbasaur is pretty dumb. I'm all for having new mounts, which is an opinion I didn't always have. I used to be a bit of a purist and went around saying that we should only have chocobos of varying colours and breeds. But after seeing so many other peoples pleads for more mount options I'd like to see those people happy.

Just the thought of people warping to Camp Dragonhead and then each calling a Goobue out of nowhere is quite traumatizing to me. I'm really unsure why the team feels the need to emulate other MMO's and include weird mounts. I'd say that giving us an abundance of Chocobo styles and designs to ride on, would make the game stand out even more that it would by giving us loads of different animals to ride.

If you actually look at the Chocobos throughout each FF game, they have clear distinct design differences. Heck, maybe they could exaggerate those differences to make even more of a difference. Longer ear feathers, Wide beaks, Bigger wings, longer tail feathers, fat chocobo, etc. These things could even have varying colors. A yellow chocobo with long black tailfeathers would be cool in my opinion.

Anyway, if the majority want more mounts then fine give us more mounts. I hope they just keep it sensible and for me, the Goobue is a joke.

If you go down that road far enough, you end up with a WoW clone. In which case, why not play WoW?

I for one, do not attribute WoW's success to their volume of mounts.

WoW was a lowest-common-denominator game. The success of WoW could be easily be likened to the success of 'Two and a Half Men' or 'CSI Miami'.

In my opinion, Fan-service mounts are a fast track to creating that kind of game.

I'm not sure what your trying to say. Couldn't understand your post properly, but If you are saying that companies look at other MMO's and copy what is successful, then giving us a plethora of different Chocobo breeds and options would be both giving us more mounts like other MMO's have and keeping it unique and true to the FF universe at the same time. To me, that's a double victory.
