SE Should take some lessons in Cloud Servers. Scalability would have solved this issue right when it popped. By the look of it they run this like they used to run XI's servers. Only that this is a very different game and needs a more up to date approach.
I would like to comply with the official advice of "Try again later" but 1) I'VE BEEN WAITING OVER 24 HOURS and 2) the problem is getting worse the longer I wait
Yeah. I've stepped away from the game for hours at a time - or just run off to do something other than the MSQ's in-game. This is getting very frustrating since it's looking increasingly likely that even when tomorrow morning swings around it'll still be congested. I'll be very annoyed if I have to wait until Monday for the servers to clear out enough for me to have a decent chance at actually getting through the first solo duty of the expansion. Tuesday is the official launch, too, so I imagine that'll bring another burst of players back to the game as well.
Yeah, regardless of the official post, there doesn't seem to be any noticeable change at all. After such staggering lack of foresight to plan for this, it's obviously going to be difficult to simply "fix" since they can't just wave a wand and queue instanced battles, but over 24hrs without any real change is disheartening.
32 hours in launch and it's increasingly obvious that SE isn't going to do anything to fix it.
Things like this are yet ANOTHER reason why other non-quest content should NOT be locked behind the MSQ!!!
Seriously, I would kill for A GOD DAMN QUEUE for Solo Instances already. We've been in here for hours already, and I'm starting to feel like this is even worse than Heavensward's Early Access. Sure, the server crash wasn't THAT bad, but during that time the maintenance fixed all the issues. However, I think this time they need to just take down the servers and address the problem directly in an emergency maintenance. A lot of people have come here with expectations of this Early Access being as good as Heavensward, and it's certainly become a crash so far. With the mass amount of complaints people are saying piling up, things aren't looking pretty. If we don't get past the bottleneck by the time of Release in THREE DAYS then Early Access would mean nothing.
Players are now turning on eachother, everyone is so angry and frustrated due to the lack of well anything really being done that they are lashing out horribly. People are in some places trying to crash the servers to get EA's attention....this has to stop. The playerbase in SB is going to hell in a hand basket...
Stop locking content behind MSQ if your system can't handle it
Stop flooding us with items if your system can't give us room to hold the items
I feel like there would be a lot less anger towards SE if they actually tried to discuss whatever is holding back a fix (even a quick and crude one), instead of just "working as intended, try again later" notices on the Lodestone.
I feel like choking or punching someone at this point -.-
A short picture story about the feels the Stormblood early access period:

They're showing the entire world that they cannot handle a game properly, they have done so much advertisement and hype and they are letting all of us down with minimal communication - just shut down the servers for maintenance, fix your shit and then bring it back up for everyone.
So is JP/EU in as much of a tizzy as NA?
I just don't get why SE hasn't closed servers? Like this is actually ridiculous, I get people are still trying to even start early access, but people took time out their day for this, an in some cases people took work off.. I just dont see SE really doing anything, I understand the apology. But stop apologizing for an just fix it.
While some issues are to be expected, they tend to be of the non-blocking nature.
If I had known that it would be impossible to actually progress the story, I'd have waited with actually buying the expansion, let alone preorder for early access as I only have a few days more that I can actually play before I leave for a couple of weeks.
We want information on what SE is actively doing to help the situation, not "try again later".
This doesn't help whatsoever. This is response you give when you want to do nothing and just sit back and "Hope" it fixes itself. For all we know, the team is just celebrating popping Champagne bottles for a "Successful" Release of a new expansion.
Clearly this act of what's being done for our experience shows the true character of Yoshi P. It's a business and that's what it comes down to. He knows he can take advantage of the players who give you all pay checks. We get fed Copy and pasted response from Corporate.
why would you take the server down if you don't have a fix yet all that does is kill all the people playing older content just to address the people with this issue?
how many people do you thing are still playing in the older areas if you have a fix and you need to take them down to fix it then yes but till there ready to implement something leave them u p i can do other things like learn the changes to my class in HW content
i would rather they fixed it right and take a while than sorta fix it and break something else later
It's possible to get past it! I did it today! However, I spent six hours clicking Raubahn to get in...
SE, you lot really need to fix this. It absolutely should not take hours of clicking and skipping cutscenes to get past one instanced battle!
this is ridiculous
I don't understand why moving forward you can't just put MSQ instances in a "Duty finder" type queue as well. This way you don't run into a problem with people just spamming and crowding one area. They are in a queue, a numbered queue in which they know their "Ticket" will eventually be called, in this way they can enjoy other content knowing their "place in line" isn't lost, hence not crowding the same space or NPC.
Sometimes you really need a picture.

I remember at one of the fanfests wasnt there a question about replaying solo instances whenever we want, it was laughed off by saying to make a new account, i guess there was a deeper reason afterall
Finally made it in around an hour ago! Still huge congestion on the server though for many others. Glad to be through.
This is absolutely sickening. Would it be so hard, to allocate all resources to the MSQ instances for 2 hours, so we can "break open" the expansion and get past this. There is nothing to do! You cannot do anything! CLOSE POTD, CLOSE PVP, CLOSE EVERYTHING except the MSQ for an hour our 2 would solve the problem!
I'm not accepting your BS copy and paste response SE. I've got friends who can't even finish the 2nd to last main story quest to even get to stormblood. Why didn't you just roll out job changes, UI and new jobs before the expansion? I've literally paid for a new game I've done nothing but old content on... this is f%$@ retarded.
Back in FFXI, we just queued up ourselves as civil people would and wait our turn.
Perhaps it was because the servers weren't so region specific, perhaps it was because gamers back then had more sense.
It might be silly to wait like that in a game, but you know everyone gets their turn in the end, without the need to spam the node like crazy.
This is a unfortunate issue yes, but it won't stop people from swarming around him and mashing it over and over (while complaining constantly at the same time ingame!). At least cut down on that second part...
XI had an older and much more patient player base. We also had very little real instanced content when the game was at its peak. That being said the only time anyone ever "made a line" was for the signal pearl quest where you had to kill the dragon. That was it. Instanced content Dynamis had a calendar that was followed due to it being beneficial to wait and you risked being blacklisted from good ls's.
If a line would actually solve the issue it would be done. But unfortunately, with how the instancing works, you would have to manage to get every person on every instance of the zone across every server on the data center to line up in order to get that to work.
I honestly just wish they would allow us to skip any instanced quests. Or they just allow me to explore the other zones. I could at least entertain myself for a few days running around gathering currents and exploring XD
