Exit and enter the house afterwards and see if it's floating again. For some reason it saves the coordinates but visually glues it back down to the floor until you exit/enter again.

Does anyone know how to flip the portrait to the back?

Floating Glitch
In this case they up a partition, then put the portrait on the back of it, then removed the partition, leaving the portrait facing backwards.
Edit: I just noticed that guide is specifically for floating table top items. Floating wall hanging items is the same basic concept. You put the portrait on the partition, Turn the Toggle Counter Surface Placement button OFF, click on the portrait and then right-click (or hit escape) to cancel, then move the partition out of the way, and the portrait should be hanging in mid-air.
Does anyone know what they used to make the brown window ledge area next to the windows and sofa? (not the half white partition)

It looks like the back side of the Glade Cartonnier. I can't see the bottom very well to confirm by looking at the feet, but it's the closest backside I can find.
The top of it is wrong for either of the stages. The stages have a dark band on all the edges.
That is a lot of glade cartonniers.. but yeah it seems like that's what they used. Thanks guys!
Going to post some things I've managed to put together lately. (hopefully the pics don't all bug out this time.)
Steps up to a bed that function as under bed storage. :D

Combine an empty Nameday Cake and an empty Riviera Breakfast to make a cutting board.
Entertain your friends. Terrorize your enemies.
But most importantly get a third item to cover the fork poking out of the other side.
Hi,
What do they use to get this long red carpet ?
https://assets.housingsnap.com/uploa..._watermark.jpg
Several Combed Wool Rugs, died red, maybe?
https://xivdb.com/item/15976/kammgarnteppich - bit annyoing/expensive to make, but yeah, you can dye them

If you slip Carbuncle bath tubs under Hingan sideboards, you are on your way to making a sauna! (going to be trying a large-scale version soon, this is a personal in my FC apartment)
Does anyone know what they used on the windows here to get that horizontal slated effect? I can't find anything and they did not list what it was on housingsnap...

Possibly: http://en.ff14housing.com/itemview.php?id=5945f366d8b - if those windows aren't flush with the default walls.
Could also be several of these items painstakingly placed:

http://en.ff14housing.com/itemview.php?id=fb203734020
But I doubt that. Waaaaay to many item slots would be used up.
Woof, if it's all those shelves I don't think they'd have much space for anything! lol the box shelves maybe tho; it's so hard to tell from the image. I might try to replicate and see. Thanks!
Edit: It may be the single shelves, the box shelves have those vertical lines that pop out with the horizontal as well. And unless you double up every single window so the outer, thicker sides cover them up you see them.
Yep! I hid a futon in there, in a position that wouldn't clip a character into the wall. (Have not tested it on a Roe yet)
I also finally did a bigger sauna for our FC, and was able to hide showerheads in the wall to get more steam but no sprinkles. The Carby plumbing is hidden in the pillars and the Hingan wardrobes.

Beds nor the chair tricks don't work on the Hingan wardrobes, unfortunately, to sit back there you can only use /groundsit.
Oh wow; going through this thread I realized just how much of a beginner at FFXIV house decorating I truly am LOL I didn't even know half of these things were possible! These examples make my house look incredibly bare and humble, but it's also far from finished yet XD I will definitely be keeping these tips in mind for the future!
It always seems to be raining in the Lavender Beds where my current residence is and was inspired to make a cozy little outdoor niche lol I really wish I didn't miss the cherry blossom pile event item though, that would've been handy to cover up the hay on the ground from the stable XD
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...96f5a5b5cb.png
You could use the picnic set and rotate it so that the picnic basket is hidden behind the stable while the green mat covers the ground. I haven't personally tried this though to verify whether the green mat will cover the hay...
Edit: Another combination that I have tried is to combine the firefly lamp and hide it in the centre of the table (I have done this for the Riviera Garden Table). This will create little fireflies hovering above the table like little green sparkles.
This has been asked numerous times so I'll outline everything again.
The counter itself is (at least I'm fairly certain) made with Hingan Sideboards. They are lined with reversed Little Ladies Day posters. These are also used to shape the Carbuncle Bathtub. An Eorzean Map has been added to the front of the sink to help give it dimension. The raised part of the back of the counter are Manor Fireplaces. A reversed Cooking Stove forms the shelf above the sink, paired with a Kitchen Hanger. The oven I will admit I'm not certain on but I want to say a reversed Cityscape painting paired with more Kitchen Hangers. The cupboard is a reversed Hingan Cupboard with Hingan Chochin Lanterns for the handles.
Made some decent balcony seating for my FC room movie screening theater.

Chair backs are Easels floated so the tripods are in the stage. Chair seats are floated Riviera Wall Shelves with Zabuton Cushions. Armrests are Glade Bachelor's Chests.
Just wondering, does the floating glitch still work with vendors? I just tried to get my Namazu vendor to float on top of a stool, but it kept giving me the error "Unable to place item." I have also tried the glitch in a wide open area, in case it was the walls causing the issue, and I'm still getting the same error.
I've run into a problem with all these furniture combos.
They are not mansion friendly. 400 items is not enough. :(
I found the best furniture combo of them all. A fireplace and a housing npc
https://i.imgur.com/ZElq3xR.png
I went ahead and did what I was thinking of.
My only disappointment was that while I could float the fireplace and vendor over where the door to a workshop would be in a FC house, visually the vendor kept snapping to the chair rail outside of housing mode even though it continued to show in the intended place while in it. Since I can't get the fireplace to snap to the chair rail (was that fixed with the 4.2 changes?), I had to settle for normal floor placement.
I call this "Seigetsu Roasting on an Open Fire". I'm sure Namazu all over Dhoro Iloh are celebrating.

In my ongoing quest to create loft furniture, I came up with following combination for a side table:
https://i.imgur.com/71ctgto.png
Riviera Vase inside a Riviera Lantern for the pedestal with the empty cake plate from the Valentione's Cake for a table top. The vase alone for the pedestal didn't look quite right and the lantern alone was a little too short for what I wanted the table height to be.
I found that I was able to hide the firefly lamp pretty well in the corner of my hotspring too for a pretty night effect ^_^
