Just Nerf Picto

PCT is insanely strong solely on Ultimates, because the job heavly benefits from downtimes and FRU has... a lot of downtimes. If you take a look at every other content in this game, you'll notice PCT is not always top1, the ranking board is not full of PCT or the disparity between a PCT and another DPS job is not as glaring as it is in FRU (especially in COD).
The real issue is the job having a DPS comparable to a BLM while having SMN party utility, they should just make a choice instead of having both of these in a single job

Mixed feelings here.

I'm admittedly still levelling Picto (level 97 at the time of this post) and having an absolute blast doing so - it's as fun as hell to play and I'm really close to making it my new 'Main' over Dancer.

I don't do Savage/Ultimate and can't therefore comment on that element. However, I do have to confess... whilst I can see where those who perceive Picto as being OP are coming from I, personally, am hoping they leave it alone as I don't think I've ever enjoyed levelling/playing a job so much!

you are correct, if you don't play the current Ultimate and only do pure uptime fights then Picto will feel fine. Which implies they can either not do downtime fights or make the drawskills OGCDs then nerf some potencies to balance it

Or that while nerfs are justified changing the design of an extremely well liked job for ultimate balance is not really a good idea

It's ultimately a question of what they want it to be. They said earlier on that it was supposed to be a BLM alternative, but it has multiple raid buffs and mobility(and I think is the only caster with non-targeted mobility depending how you view Between the Lines), so should the potencies be toned down/moved around or should the utility be toned down? I like how it plays and I like its visual flair, but it does too much of everything a little too well from what I have seen and read.

PCT never drops below 4th, and is top dog in M2S.

Oddly, the only place PCT fails hard is CoD, and that might be because of the sheer number of PCT and the current dominant strat heavily punishing ranged with a party buff in Alliance B.

Then I guess its a good thing there are 20 other jobs in the game if someone doesn't like picto's motif gameplay.

Removing an aspect of a job to appeal to everyone is how we ended up with each job feeling like copies of one another.

I agree PCT should not be this high with so many party utility, but it's not overly broken DPS wise compared to other DPS, in every other content that is not FRU
Now, it would be a problem if PCT was extremely ahead of every other DPS in every content of the game, like in FRU. But it's not the case. I think they should either nerf its support ability so their DPS would make sense, or just nerf their DPS (which they will never do unfortunately)

PCT is just awful to play in COD, I think that's why it's that low (there's very few players playing it, compared to every other content in the game)

No, you got it quite right. The disparity only exists in FRU, it rotates about in every other fight on the top 4 DPS being different jobs.

Granted, it was designed with the support in question, else it would not be able to complete with BLM as a higher dmg caster, so it is functioning how they intended, just sadly a lot of people are foaming at mouth over 1 fight data.

PCT as it is now kit-wise make it impossible to balance in Ultimate activities without it hurting it in other activities. The issue is how the Muse system works, what was it 12, 15 seconds per 2 min in a normal activity doing no damage painting muse. That helps compensate for the class's massive burst damage with the periods doing zero damage. However, with how ultimates are designed you got damage phases to burst damage and then mechanic downtime. During this downtime, everyone is doing zero damage but PCT can take advantage since the downside of the class is no longer a factor.

The problem is how to address the issue. Do you change a single class for its performance in a single activity and upset the players who don't play ultimate? Do you change the ultimate design philosophy which, who knows what other issue might come from that.

Honestly, there is no correct way to address the issue. Personally, it would be a radical change in the muse system in the PCT kit, retooling the muse system so that it would require other spell casts to build a resource to allow the damaging muse spells to be cast. Though that would require adjusting the number, a new resource for the class perhaps, or other small and large changes. "Fixing" the situation would require alot of time.
