Yeah... no, its barely been one week for it to need any changes, honestly if you don't enjoy the high apm of the job there's 20 other jobs for you to try. The positional thing is baffling, two positionals are on 40s CDs the other two are predictable in the 123 combo.
-
It already has gaps in the rotation where you're stuck waiting on the longer GCDs for certain abilities. If you can't move a few inches in-game while using your abilities, you were already doing to be doing a poor job of things anyway.
-
on my word that Wuk sucks, Viper is fine and requires no dumbing down.
-
The high APM and positionals are exactly what I enjoy about playing Viper. Dumbing down those aspects as a knee-jerk reaction immediately after release runs a huge risk of making it no longer fun to play.
-
Even as someone who has yet to touch Viper I find it strange to make such big changes to how it plays to early on.
I mean, I don’t remember seeing scores of threads talking about how it needed less positionals, nor the APM. So like, where did the complaints even come from lol? Even my Obviously-Super-Accurate-and-Reliable Google Translate on JP forum threads didn’t find any many major complaints about it.
Meanwhile certain other jobs do have many, many threads about them that are going mostly unaddressed (*cough* healers *cough*) lol

I absolutely agree. At the announcement of dawntrail, we (the players) were promised no more ‘stale’ content. Viper is the start to that! I have really enjoyed taking the time to read the tooltips, practice at a target dummy, and learn how to best tackle the new job! I feel if we start simplifying new jobs, especially 2 days after game launch, we will be back to jobs that are near cookie cutters from the others, lacking individuality.
-
I feel like this decision is coming less from actual feedback and more from the devs suddenly thinking "oops, we gave it too many positionals" considering it's anomalous in a world where now even MNK and DRG have only a single positional per combo string.
-
Yea, the class is the most fun I've had on melee since they took away MNK positionals. I adore the busyness amd speed, but I think the changes to oGCD ranges are good.
-
Do not change viper, please
-
I legitemately do not understand why they want to change viper and make it easier when it's already really easy.
I can understand being confused by the skills description due to how bloated it can feel. I know I was at first.
But if you just hit on a dummy with it you'll quickly understand how it works and positionals make it fun.
