Iirc it's in the thread made about seeing the same roulette people. I'm not sure how to quote a post from a different thread tbh.

And I never said you claimed the game was dying. My original point is the game isn't dying like many claim. Regardless if it's growing or just simply stable. Neither of those equals dying. That's the main point.

It's not dying but it's definitely not growing. It's most likely just floating in the middle of the sea for now.

7.0 will be whether the game exceed EW's initial (emphasis on "initial" for people trying to pull a gotcha) success or fail to deliver

Well have to agree to disagree there but thats ok.

Being real? 7.0 won't be what these people want. It's way to late on that front imo. I am a firm believer that XIV just isn't the game for alot of these people anymore and they should've moved on a long time ago like some of us have been advocating for them to do. Ofc I hope it does something for em but I'm not gonna bet on it.

Hey I'm actually agreeing with that statement. Its what I responded to in this same thread. FFXIV is heading to a direction that some people are just not wanting to ride anymore.

It's up to time to see if it'll still retain its success or if it turns out a lot of people were on the same boat.

True. Also will be interesting to see if 7.0 gains as much as it could possibly lose in that scenario. Ik one of the biggest turn offs to people coming to play even to this day is the commitment to get to current expac. 7.0 being a new starting point according to Yoshi could be a genius move in that regard to help ease that barrier of entry.

If those people will leave, potential success of this game will lie with the Second Life players and those who sub for few months per expansion to do MSQ. If SE wants their game to go that direction, go for it, but this success will be on the shoulders of all the modders which make this game viable alternative to Second Life. It will be another Skyrim, which is boring and barebones, until community makes it playable with all the mods.

While I agree with some of this, this kind of devalues console players when they're a nice chunk of the playerbase. They mess around and rp n such without mods just fine. For the game to become akin to Skyrim folks would have to not have fun with what the game offers anymore. Skyrim doesn't get updates (to my knowledge). XIV does. Also since when has XIV ever been unplayable and where/how would that ever happen in this game? Just wondering

I think Asmongold said it best. If everyone or if 90% of the playerbase actually just quit right now, SE would immediately do a 180 with FFXIV in a heartbeat.

years ago I played Star Wars Galaxies, and SOE released an expansion that radically changed the game, and saw a massive amount of people leave the game, the head of SOE at the time basically said, "dont let the door hit you on the way out"

the game was never changed back. players never came back.

the response of those at the top is unpredictable if they think they are right. granted years later he said "it was a mistake" but after many years, did it really matter? nope, because the mistake was never corrected.

Steam does seem to say the game is stable, though truly, if I could flip my sub from Steam to actual SE without having to buy the game again and with my characters, I would in a heartbeat, and I think so would many on steam now.
