Not certain why you believe that Stockholm Syndrome is involved here. Square Enix is not holding anyone captive. They are not abusing us. You have the option to stop paying for their products and walking away. They won't stop you.

If you're sticking around and continuing to pay for the game even though you hate it, that's on you. It's not likely to suddenly change development direction when the majority of players appear to be at least satisfied if not firmly pleased overall with the game.

Not really something to say yes or no to because it won't happen. They won't destroy the system to the point that those who have grandfathered houses will lose them. Instanced housing would have to be separate to wards in the same vein as how they did Island Sanctuary.

For the sake of "what if", I would but I'd expect heavy compensation for the time put into decorating, furniture costs, placard & permit costs, workshop progress, etc. in the form of gil or Crysta. I wouldn't just give it up for nothing at all in return.

Nothing wrong with one per person. Imagine this system is implemented and your name is pulled as the winner on more than one house, you can only pick one. The main issue is you're screwing someone else out of a chance to own one of the two houses you've won as the one you don't pick would just go back out into the next lottery rather than be owned by someone currently.

The system for what it is is fair, even if the odds of you winning are slim. If you want multiple chances, grow some alts like others do.

Seriously? FOMO as the tem tends to get used is bs anyways. it's basicvally a self-worth or self-esteem problem. an obsession with comparison to others..

an ffxiv example would be Jack has a mount. Jill doesn't. Jill feels inferior to Jack because he has a mount she doesnt have..

However the reality is it makes no difference. EVERY mount basically has the exact same atributes moves at the same speeds can do the saem things so what is Jill actually missing out on?

FOMO is also bs because its a term that can can and often is applied to absolutely everything.. Maybe Jack and Jill are having a random conversation. John sees them talking across the room but isn't part of that conversation. BAM FOMO!! What are they talking about? What is John missing out on? ARGGHHh!!

Oh, I completely agree that's why the auto-demolition system exists. There are roughly 500,000 plots across all servers (30 per ward, 2 subdivision per ward, 24 wards per city, 5 cities, ~70 servers). Each plot owner is motivated to keep paying their sub when auto-demo is off. That's about $7.5M/month in subs; $90M/year. That's more money earned than many of the failed SE games that are released in a year.

As for turning auto-demo, in a much older post, I broke down all the times SE has halted auto-demolition. The vast majority of them were heavily localized weather events (hurricanes, typhoons, etc). And they were limited to the data centers that served those regions. If I recall, one was for Hurricane Irma and Harvey. Both affected areas in the Gulf of Mexico. NA servers had auto-demolition stopped.

What is going on in Ukraine is terrible. The citizens involved in that war are in Ukraine and Russia. The solders fighting that war are in Ukraine and Russia. I don't know how many of them play FFXIV and how many of them would be disappointed to survive the war but lose their virtual house... but SE should treat a regional conflict the same way they treat a regional disaster. If they insist on turning auto-demolition off, limit it to EU servers only.

If I got to keep my furniture then yes. If not then no because I spent actual real cash on some of that furniture, and some is event stuff that isn't on the mog station. So. It won't happen and if it did without a way to preserve the items then it'd be kind of stupid of SE.

Ah sorry, my passive aggressiveness wasn’t directed at you, just at how ridiculous it is to give the “neighbours” excuse to not implement instanced housing when only a very small amount of people take advantage of the feature, most streets are deserted and most people don’t play at the same times either ways. In three years that I’ve owned housing I had two encounters with neighbours, one couple didn’t say hello, another couple I actually interacted with stopped playing over a year ago, no return. It’s nonsense.

We can have both wards and instanced though. I like neighbourhoods, as plenty of people do, and not for the chance I can meet someone around. I do like when it happens, though.
