I'm too poor for land anyway so this lottery system doesn't affect me regardless.
I do hope it has the intended effect though.

Terrible design... Why not a lottery for the pool instead of individual? Welp can't own a house in RL or a game apparently. Less then 2% of demand has been met.....
No one is homeless
There is apartment and FC room and both of them are instanced.
You don't need a garden to level your chocobo. Just feed it onions while it's summoned in the world.
As for your sources of onions, they are widely available on the market board and have mostly come down in prices after the spike in endwalker release.
As for the house, just wait for 6.1 and submit a bid for the plot you want and voila, you've got a house if the RNG gods smile on you.
Well then, why don't we fact check this claim? It's simple math afterall ;)
Using Universalis data (which is decently accurate for high throughput items like Onions) we can see that for Primal the cheapest Thavnairian Onion would be roughly 165k. If we were to limit ourselves just to Lamia, you can get them for 180k. The most expensive Onions I've found are on Materia (not surprisingly) but even then they would cost you a whopping... 220k.
Now, you need 10 onions to level a chocobo to max and you can get 2 as quest rewards. But lets tip it in your favor and assume that we need 10. Assuming the most expensive onions possible, we are looking at 10 x 220,000 = 2,200,000. Basic multiplication and stuff.
Now, I'm very excited to see that medium house selling below the lowest class small plots you are talking about here. ;)
