I thought people might be exaggerating about SMN

I enjoyed SMN in late Heavensward and in Stormblood, much less in Shadowbringers, and much more in Endwalker.

I think this current iteration is the most fun version of Summoner yet since 2017. I hope the devs keep it like this as they continue to develop it in the future.

And, please, keep the number of buttons to a minimum.

Yes, It is a census of E12s clears. No, I do not think it is entirely accurate to the playerbase at large. No I did not think Summoner was more popular than Red Mage.

But I don't believe there is that big of a disconnect between the top end of the playerbase and the playerbase at large. Some disconnects? Oh yeah, of course. But big enough that Summoner would be widely used by high end players but last for the playerbase at large? No. Especially since everyone keeps crying out "meta class meta class" when talking about SCH changes. People do love to follow the high end raiders and play what they think is meta.

And besides, In the the very post where I first posted that image, I asked you for a better metric, one that you said you had seen. Show me the Lucky Bancho you saw that said that Summoner was the least played class in the game. Please.

And yeah, without SE releasing information, getting the metrics down right is hard, especially since SMN/SCH are tied together. That's why Lucky Bancho goes with weapon Ilvl as their main representation of the classes as a whole. The average player doesn't give a shit about what the savage raiders are doing, nor even has an idea what the meta looks like. It's a job with a demanding rotation but massive DPS payoff if you master it. No kidding it was real popular with people who could clear E12S.

I'm hunting for it. It was based, I think, on active accounts that actively played jobs (which they defined as being 61+, to filter out the sheer chaos of free trial accounts, and having updated gear on the job since last census). The raw-numbers-by-jobs-at-level-cap data from last June shows SCH/SMN as the most popular job in the game, barely edging out White Mage... but of course that data is combining all the Scholars and Summoners and conflating them, since you can't level one without also raising the other. So that's not exactly giving an accurate number. I'll keep digging.

Don't need Lucky Bancho to tell when a job was rare. You rarely saw SMN and MNK in the wild.
Numbers aren't the reason people play jobs either, at least not the segment of the playerbase SE looks at for making decisions.

Demanding rotation? It was a simple 120s rotation, what was so demanding about it? Pressing Egi-Assault? Min-maxing your ruin 4s? Pressing Ti-Disaster occasionally? Like seriously I don't understand what was so ball-busting about old Summoner to you. Hell it was my "I wanna relax and have an easy run" job for all of SHB, especially post Egi-Assault in 5.1. Good DPS and a res in-case someone dies? That made life so much easier.

Also you would be surprised at how many people take raiders opinons seriously. The entire reason AST got changed from HW to SB was because of Savage raiders.

Aren't most classes based around 60s/120s CD rotations now since the changes with EW? If you think I'm trolling then I don't really know what to say since most balance changes they've been making recently seemingly fall into the same category.

I mean, at least you got some proc play going on there and some things to manage lol Granted I haven't got around to Ranged phys dps post 80 yet.
