Confused about people's obsession with open world raids/dungeons.

There is absolutely no reason not to have this content. period. Who says it's an out dated idea? you? Botting does not have to take over a open world content/NMs, and nothing says it will. Yes, it might, but still no reason not to have it. This content isn't even out yet, but you are still assuming it will take over and therefore do not want it. Do you realize how dumb that sounds?

Wow, I have never seen someone with such an overbearing irrational fear of Bots.

Instances are the Dated Solution to the problem. There are a hundred different ways around Bot. Skill alone makes them irrelevant. A Vibrant world full of a variety of content is the only way to make a successful MMO. If you fail in that respect your game dies.

They did this in FF11 also, with Sandworm and Dark Ixion. It also didn't work and just gave the botters more of an advantage. There was a combination of 3 programs used for these NMs. One would make your character say in LS when one spawned, the second it spawned, and say which zone you were in. And the second displayed the widescan arrow on your compass telling you which direction the mob was from you, so you knew exactly which direction to flee hack in to claim it. (Flee hacking was the 3rd program)

Also, there's this fun little rule for flee hacking, if GM's don't see you do it, they can't prove you did it, and they won't ban you. It's not exactly hard to fake a video and speed it up so someone looks like they're flee hacking either.

First of all, yes it's entirely possible to legitimately outclaim bots like these. Yea, an LS of 18 legit people probably wouldn't claim as often as an LS of 18 bots, but they still claim often enough if everyone tries to claim (this was the problem with a lot of shells from my experience).

Second, to make that video they'd have to do more than just speed it up. Keep in mind there's a game clock on the screen and it's easy to see if it's running too fast. Plus, even if someone tampered with the speed of the video and altered the speed of the clock, these bans never happen immediately after being reported. GMs, or in XI's case, STF investigate the person and only take action when they're caught in the act. I've gotten so many flee hacking RMT banned from Mee Deggi it's not even funny.

Third, there's no Widescan in XIV and likely never will be because of how it was abused in XI, thanks to bots.

Fourth, there are no long re-pop NMs in XIV and likely never will be (although I would love to see them). SW/Ixion bot is pointless. Neither party would have an advantage since, as long as the window is open, the NMs are always up.

No we're the majority; only issue being most of us are too busy preparing for Moogle Primal battle or writing strats on how to kill Ifrit for scrubs to get on the forums and argue with casuals.

All dungeons non-instanced please. If I decide to get help to progress in a game it's my own damn business. Also the instanced bs has seriously harmed the creative freedom of building a world. If I want grey tunnels I play a western rpg-attempt.

I just don't want to have to join another shitty LS filled with retards because they have the good bot in order to get those 3 or 4 pieces of gear you otherwise can't get.

First I will take the time to apologize for not reading all 131 posts on this subject, but I will say that I have read at least 40% or more of the thread. I'm not really sure why people are so against instanced content. Just because it's instanced in a place away from the rest of the world does not mean that it cannot be fun with good design.

Let's take for instance some examples from 11; these will be more relative to the posters from what I have seen. I played 11 for a considerable amount of time, and spent much of that time in salvage. While there was no one to claim against, there were still challenges and puzzles. Just because the content is instanced does not instantly make that content easier. In my opinion, it actually gives an opportunity to provide more challenging content because that content can be controlled and balanced for a certain party size.

The introduction of instanced content does not mean the dislocation of, or the disappearance of world NMs. I also had my fun here in 11 with the giant sand worm in the past, Ixion when he first came out, and claiming Wyrms, World Kings (ie Tzee Xicu the Manifest) and many others. This was fun for me, but not for many, and I soon ran out of time to be able to participate in such events so I focused my time in salvage. For people who work or have a semblance of a normal schedule, having content that is instanced just makes sense. You can log in, go to the instanced content, have fun with friends or meet new people and log off saying you had a good night. Also, with the implementation of the cross-server instance player match up idea (like in WoW) you have the chance to go into an instance, well instantaneously. For people with limited time, this is much more satisfactory than waiting around for a world NM.

This is an MMO, we cannot simply think about ourselves. We are playing with thousands or tens of thousands of people besides ourselves. Having instanced content makes sense. Having world NMs makes sense. I don't understand the aversion from one side to the other about this subject. I also don't understand why people constantly say to go to another game if you don't like the fact that there are world NMs or that if there's not instanced content "deal with it". Why are only those that have tons of hours to camp and wait for NMs (while other people fight it, not a comment on pop time) or rather wait for a party for NMs the only ones that matter? Both sides deserve an equal voice.
