Removal of Surnames

OoooooKkkk.

I love the surnames. I'm surprised they didn't do it before. FF games almost always have surnames.

I really don't understand what the big deal is. What difference does it make what other people's names are? With everything that needs improving, this really just seems like a very silly thing to argue about.

plus getting rid of them now would cause so many naming conflicts it wouldnt even be funny.

Surnames allowed many players to pick the name they wanted. And I put a lot of effort into picking both my name and last name and they both have a meaning that works together. So no, don't remove surnames. Just make a better tell system so that you get an autocomplete when setting the tell.

Maleena, you point out that my name is stupid as if to disprove my argument that requiring surnames makes people's names sound stupid.

I like the surnames myself, I think it's pretty cool that you can run into someone with the same first name as you. But I suppose they could make surnames optional for those who do not need or want them...

I agree, sometimes people don't feel it necessary to have more than one name. But for mine however, its actually a name with a hyphen, but it didn't allow it so I had to split it up, which I'm OK with.

alternatively if you dont think you need a first name just make the first name a title or honorary

I'm neutral on the subject. I just knew I didn't want a long name this time around. I disliked being a taru and having an obnoxious amount of text floating above my character.
