No, when I say "solo tank", I mean like both Oppressors at the same time, or Living Liquid(Hand) and Liquid Limb, or Both PLD adds from Thordan EX.
And not after they overgeared the content, but as a new kind of strat for progression.
Here's the simulation (Numbers will be rounded to the nearest ten).
As a lvl 60 PLD, I have 5200 MP
With Sheltron, I recover 700 MP, and 440 with Riot Blade.
With a basic GCD of 2.5s, I can do one Riot Blade every 5 seconds, and a Shleltron every 30s.
We will also not count passive MP regeneration or any external source like Ballad
So, let's suppose that Divine Calling costs 2600MP (5200/2) and initially lasts for 30s (and decrease duration by 5 seconds on each subsequent cast.)
We start counting just after your 1st cast at 0 second, and you have 2600 MP (5200-2600)1 StackSo you cast your second Divine Calling and come back to 2600 MP, but it will only last 25s.2 Stacks
- 30 seconds later, providing you did only 6 partial Riot Blade combos and one sheltron, you're back to full MP 2600+6*440+700 > 5200
Third Divine Calling, 2460 MP left, 20s duration.3 Stacks
- 25 seconds later, you had time to do 4 Riot Blades (Since Divine Calling cost you a GCD) and a Sheltron, to refill 2460 MP. You're at 5060 MP
Fourth Divine Calling, 1880 MP left, 15s duration.4 Stacks
- 20 seconds later, enough time for 3 Riot Blades and probably a Sheltron, 2020 MP refilled for 4480 MP total.
Fifth Divine Calling, 160 MP left, 10s duration.5 Stacks
- 15 seconds later, only 2 Riot Blade, and Sheltron still on cooldown, so only 880 MP refill for a total of 2760 MP
Since each stack would add 10% mitigation to Shield Oath, it means that you'd end up to 70% reduction for the last 10s (But also reduce your damage by 70%). And if each stacks increase the enmity multiplier by 1, you wouldn't lose aggro even if you only do Fast Blade -> Riot Blade with some Shield Swipes.
- Wears off 10 seconds later. For a maximum total duration of 100 seconds if you focus only on replenishing MP.
only thing I feal PLD lacks is better AoE Arrgo, buff "Flash" & "Circle of Scorn" a bit (like if Flash generates 600 arrgo per use buff it to max 650-700... before Shield Oath modifyer) & maybe remove/tweek the effect of "Flash" so the blind lasts longer &/or remove/extend the number it takes to become immune cause even when "blinded" it only drops their chance to hit from 90% to what 40-60% (no idea the real %'s) if imunity was remoed from PvE enemies only (so its less OP in PvP) it at lest would give PLD's a) more controled (with RNG) medigation, maybe & b) add a reason to use it when fighting 1 mob/boss, or more reasons
Really a slight buff to AoE Arrgo generation & I'd be fine... will still use PLD anyway only cause I just dislike DRK (lv'n it outa boardum) & sound effects from WAR annoy me (That and all this rumored "high skill cap" for it)
With all 3 tanks capped i can say for certain PLD needs an actual aoe/cleave and Royal Authority fits that task well.
Then there's Clemency. When i heard the first time PLD's were getting an actual healing skill i was excited. I mean that if anything screams holy knight right there. Well we got a healing skill alright, just not exactly what i had in mind. A very situational interruptable spell with a hefty cost tagged into it. When it works it's great but it feels so clunky compared war/drk which healing is built into their rotation and defenses. Not only does it not weave into our rotation, it's way too expensive to use. Managing mana is something every PLD knows how to do but it's still a dangerous gamble with flash being our primary aoe.
I'd rather have Clemency built into our rotation. A resource like mechanic that builds over time in a rotation (like warriors wrath + unchained for example) would make clemency a heck alot smoother to use and on demand when actually needed. I know, i know, ripping warriors off is not the way to go. Open to ideas.
If PLD had a stack system, I'd like it if each additional stack increased spell speed up to where at max stacks its like having a Swiftcast. ( using a spell at any time will spend any stacks you've been saving up.)
At best we will probably just get our CoS duration increased by 2 seconds. But boy can I dream. We definitely need more umph.
Probably broken - but why not give shields physical defense? Maybe give it just enough physical defense to equal the effect of Foresight on other tank classes (or even half of that). It would make it a "tankier" tank, without giving it too much of an advantage.
