the problem is, even the None Rpers enjoy watching the RPers RP, balmung as a whole is a great server, its just these nuisance times where we can't actually log in. myself I wouldn't want to choose, or to be chosen for, I like it as it is and i think many people would say the same this will be over in a couple of days and we will all be back to normal.

I have to agree with this solution. Blizzard does this with WoW, and the playerbase typically responds very well to it. You see a large group of people leave the super high population servers and go to the "Recommended" servers that desperately need more players. This would help in a few ways, lowering congestion on high pop servers, as well as helping servers that desperately need more population get a playerbase to keep them from being shut down.

I don't really want a split, but the way it is right now is unsustainable unless the game loses popularity, which isn't something we should want. If Heavensward is a success, we aren't just going to go back to how the server was pre-expansion where everything worked fine despite being popular. We're going to continue to have the problems we do now.

I don't think forced transfers or a server split is necessary or a good idea (due to the things it does to the community), but free transfers to/from selected, low-population, servers, and a moratorium on transfers to high population servers would probably fix things just fine on its own given a bit of time.

Okay I understand the issue with errors when trying to connect to the data center.. but what about those of us already connected, only to get 2002'ed or 5006'ed out of the character login queue? I can deal with the first one, but getting kicked AFTER being connected is getting to be highly frustrating. It's like someone's dumping a huge chunk of players out of the queue at the same time.

does the queue have a timer where after waiting so long it just gives up and dumps you or something?

I understand having a queue, but why do I have an error even trying to get into the queue and/or during the queue? Why are people being kicked from the queue?

There's a dev post in this thread about that. The error getting into the data center is due to extremely high congestion. Currently there is no workaround, nor a solution. It's just millions of players hammering servers at 1 time, which makes the login servers choke. Essentially we're unintentionally ddossing ourselves.

The error during queue is likely the same thing. The server login queue reaches such a high number that the server cannot handle it and kicks a large chunk of people. Unfortunately, again, there's likely not a solution except to wait for the levels to return to normal.

I am wondering if they're doing manual login server restarts to kick afkers out of the queue though.. It would make sense if they were doing that. Those not afk can simply return, with a higher success rate..

What fellow Balmungers need to understand is that if we got a proper working login queue with no lobby errors (which believe me, I really hope we do get), our login queue right now would be several hours long. That's how bad the overcrowding on our server is. The vast majority of our players aren't even trying to get on right now because of the lobby and queue problems.
