It shouldn't be chance...why not treat atma sorta like the increasing light step?
Go do a certain fate in certain zone to get the atma stone for that location, once obtained the stone do something like 20 more fates that are just whatever not specific, and fill the stone up with the atma essence or whatever they wanna call it. Done. It still takes some time but at least this way its no longer random pure luck full on retard...Sean Penn went full retard in I Am Sam...ain't done shit since.
I received 8 atma in 4 days...not so bad but than spent the next 4 days nothing...and im not suggesting 1 hour here or there, full blown 6 plus hour days. I will have the damn robe from the 3k fate achievement before I complete my first full atma set.

This is a sentiment I woefully share. I don't go out of my way to hunt atma, but when I'm traveling I hit every Fate in my way and it seems the only time I ever get atma is when I'm NOT trying to get atma. I STILL only have 3 in all this time since atma was a thing. I'm not asking them to be handed to me, I'd like to still work for it, but this is ridiculous! My chances of getting loot I want from the random dungeons is higher than atmas' drop rate. That's terrible!

Well i finished my atma grind in 2 days (about 8hr's) and honestly i kinda liked it. I remember back in WoW grinding out my arcanite reaper and lionheart helmet, and this was very reminiscent of that grind. But that was something i only wanted to do once, and i have the feeling atma is gonna be the same way. Personally i don't care if it changes now, i did it and enjoyed it.
Edit: After reading this thread a bit i checked my fate achievement, 234 completed fates. Seeing that some people have done 400+ just for atma I definitaly think the rate should be buffed
