Ok, why are so many people posting in this thread?

It's a chocobo. You ride it. It's not this endless world of possibilities where we should discuss everything about them. It's just a mount. What's so exciting?

The same reason you're posting in this thread.

We all have thoughts and opinions on the matter and we're sharing them here.

If they put chocobos on a timer again... people will RAGE.

I'll take the timer over rails.. Unless there's something better, but it's a rental there has to be some sort of limit.

Most games just let you call your mount with a whistle and then it runs to you from off the screen. And then you mount it. And when you're done you send it away.

And there's no timer.

I'm talking about the RENTALS, what we are getting right away not the full blown mount system which we won't be getting until later. Geez.

I'm sorry to be so blunt and direct, but I feel like I have to leave a comment here.... I got into Final Fantasy because of Chocobos. I played FF XI (my first FF game) because of the Chocobo riding, racing, and breeding that I used to watch my friend play all the time on FF VII. I fell in love with Chocobos and everything about Final Fantasy along with it!

When I first got the beta for XIV, I immediately tracked down the stables, and when I saw them I was soooooo freakin' excited to see their new (XI inspired) models and all the possibilites they could hold for us to have fun with!!! For playing the game nearly everyday since launch, nearly 10 months or so of dreaming, and conversing, and typing up ideas for them.... THEY ARE FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!

I think of Chocobos SO much more than a mere "mount". They are an iconic, loveable character in the Final Fantasy series and not to mention I LOVE birds, which helps prove even more how much of a nut I am for them! XD I won't just appreciate the faster, safer travel, but the PURE enjoyment of controlling a Chocobo in FF XIV (my favorite version of the Chocobo thus far) around Coerthas and Limsa and everywhere else in the game while listening to the Chocobo Theme composed by Nobuo Uematsu for XIV! I've been cock(~atrice) teased by them in all the class quest cutscenes of them being mounted and ridden by the Knights of Ishgard and so much more too!! >___<;

This is just the beginning, and it's only gonna get better for us die hard Choco fans!!!!!!! KWEH~!!! ^O^ TY again to all the devs who finally made this thing happen!!

It's a new toy but useless at this point and there currently is no utility for it because there is no places we need to ride to.
With Anima you can get anywhere in 5 minutes so I hope with 1.19 there will be actually destinations that will give purpose to having a chocobo. Hopefully, it's something Yoshi is keeping in mind while he redesigns areas also.
He should maybe consider just leaving Aetherate camps and completely getting rid of those small beams.

Rentals were a bit of a pain, as if you didn't take full advantage by constantly moving the entire time you had available you wouldn't make it to your destination! In XI it was Home town to Jueno! Well almost, you usually timed out somewhere in Rolanberry Fields.

If I have the option to raise my own chocobo to get around this time limit of a rental chocobo, I'm okay with that. But the costs on replenishing your whistle was ridiculous!
