Thank you for the compliment, Jobeto. It was one way I could think that would increase player-immersion, as well as making teleporting more "valuable" rather than something that can be regularly used. It could also make for useful lore, the anima screwing up somehow and manifesting instead as stones and crystals which have gotten rarer. Not sure if that would work since anima is kind of linked to the soul of people, but SE can expand on the idea perhaps. :D
I'm one of those people you mentioned who "probably still would like the current system but I'm curious", but that's if there was no other modes of transport. With more means of getting around, I'm all for a redo of the teleporting system.
I like that this thread is doing well, I expected some disagreement going away from a simple form of transportation, but most of you are thinking like me :D
I brought this topic up during beta, and the first thing I said as I was doing CoP in XI with my LS was something like, "You know FFXIV will let you teleport where and when ever you want at any rank and class?... I think that's stupid they should just make teleportation available at aetheryte camps and cities, it's like I was born with magical fairy disappearing powers." then someone brought up that jumper movie too, lol.
But seriously, I'm sure the local team is reading this thread already. It's a matter of them sending Yoshi the translation and post and waiting for an answer.
Bump! This needs to be done!
Do it SE!
Set!

I agree about the jumper thing, the second a new friend logs in, he can just jump on my teleports to all the camps free of charge and never have to worry about adventuring out to get them himself. Where is the adventure/fun in that? =/
I just started the game a bit ago but I'm not quite sure why everyone seems to want to tell other people how to play? I mean, if you don't want to teleport, can't you just not teleport? If you want to walk and view the scenery, can't you do that now? Why does the option to teleport have to be taken away for everyone when you can simply go do exactly what you want right now? I don't mean this to offend anyone, and I'm sorry if it comes off that way. It just doesn't seem very nice to try and force other people to play the game the way that *you* desire to play it.
