I'm a new player within the last 2 weeks and my impression is that the game is either very laggy with multiple disconnects within dungeons or it's under maintenance. The first time I have ever seen an 10 hour downtime in any game happened last week.
Feb 26 - 5 hours
Feb 25 - 3 hours
Feb 21 - 3 hours
Feb 20 - 2 hours
Feb 19 - 10 hours
Feb 18 - 2 hours <-- This is when I started playing
So far, 25 hours of downtime since I started playing. That is more than a bit excessive.

This is all I can find
the emergency maintenance is longer than the scheduled maintenance was
That's actually part of the joke. Too many IT Pros in these types of threads claiming they know how to do it better than SE, when they know nothing of the environment. I'm in IT and the only thing I can say is that there is no real way to know when fixing A will affect B, and fixing B will affect C. I've tested many things in a test environment and it checked out under test circumstance, but once rolled out, people found something wrong with it and it had to be revised. It's just how it is.
You should never have a job in QA. In my line of work, ONE mistake in QA means I lose my job, my certification to ever do my job again, and I will probably end up in jail for negligence. Just because this is a video game doesn't mean SE can slack on the professionalism. There is obviously a deficiency in SE's QA department that needs to be handled.
If I had to guess, maintenance will end early... Most do. It is possible they are just allotting themselves a huge span of time just in case it DOES take that long. After all, emergency maintenances aren't planned and likely require some experimentation during the maintenance to fix whatever issues need addressing.
