Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Just agree to disagree and move on. There's no need to resort to insults even in cases where posters are being selfish. It's not a good look for the thread itself and serves only to turn people away from posting here.

I think there is nothing wrong in proving them wrong/realizing they are right or just having a discussion. Some people though just wont listen to anybody at all

Also I just got an idea. What if they allow us to use viera ears headband as a temporary soultion for male viera until they are released :D

Also I wonder what are they going to be mentioning about the missing genders throught ShB. THey said the story will reference them

I want to say something before i go on with my post, and that is I have no intention on changing to a male Viera or any other race. That being said I have no objection for the to be added. I'm not too familiar with the lore, but I know they don't leave the forest , but the devs could maybe add a reason? Maybe like a fire, or somehow a primal got summoned and they had to leave? Again i have no desire to change races, but I wish you guys the best of luck!

Excuse me? Nobody is or has ever harrassed the devs. The only thing we have done is ask if they could release the race/gender combo we want to play. Then you come here to insult all of us because we want something that you don't. If you can't deal with people asking for things then you really should have not entered the forms which is a place specifically designed so that we can ask for things, oh, and we will keep asking for male viera until they are either released or the game gets shut down

Sorry honey, not that many people want to play as birds.

I have an honest question, I keep seeing the term "missing" or "locked" genders, which implies that they were added then removed in some way or that they are implied to be implemented. The impressions that I have gotten is that they may be added in the future but no guarantees.

Anyway, as I said before, I'm not against them adding male viera or female hrothgar, but I still think that at best, we will see them in the story as npcs, just like Ff11, and i know for some of you, you can't picture SE doing that because it would tick off the few people that want it, i still stick by the fact they did this very thing before.

While i am at it, what is all this talk about male viera being more wanted than hrothgar? Or that more people will play male viera over hrothgar (lookin at you Zeylos). I mean, hrothgar bring way more to the table than male viera ever will. There is no beast lime animal race in the game and even if you call it a roe with an animal head, the only thing male viera will bring is yet another human with animal ears. We have tall and elegant with the elf like race, even if they have weird long necks, we have a race that can be very well for lack of a better word, twinkish if you mess about in the male miqote creator, and heck even the au ra bring yet another tallish eloquent male charecter, albeit with horns instead of ears.... So what exactly will male viera bring that these don't outside of instead of horns or cat ears, you now have bunny ears?

Hrotgar do bring more to the table, but that being said, male viera would almost for sure be more played than male hrotgar (look at comparaison or roe and male miqote, and the difference is most likely similar to that)

Then, the dev team never did that, and I pray you read the letter. They said that they can't show them rigth now because it would take too much time and resources.

How many resources do you think it takes to slap bunny ears on a male au ra and give it 2 animations?

Also, the dev team did not do that before. That dev team was XI dev team, and the reason why they never added the missing genders was because it was impossible due to technical limitations, some limitations that don't exist on this game.

Second of all, do you think that if nobody wanted male viera this would be the most liked thread on the forums, with the most pages, and a demand so high than the devs said that if they can find a way to do so they will go out of their way and do it?

As I said I could make the same type of thread, just because if goes 400+ pages doesn't mean everyone agree's.

its like claiming pizza from roundtable is the best ever just because 1000 people showed up to try it doesn't mean they all leave with the same opinion.

Most people from the game don't even come to post on the forums.

Actually, I think a lot of people would want to play as dogs. Like lupin or something. More than birds, that's for sure!

Of course others want other races but they never reached the amount of likes this thread has. Heck I wanted the Lupin (as a complete race) instead of Viera but I also understood that the amount of people that wanted them was less then Vieras.

Compelling argument.

Different customers have different expectations out of the game and are free to cease being customers or reduce purchases if it no longer meets their needs.

Whilst I don’t condone attacking the devs or SE, people can certainly question where they’re putting resources as well as whether their answers make sense. And this thread has generally been very respectful.

I honestly grow tired of many people being extremely aggresive towards someone because they want something that they don't.

Is like all the people that since they got what they wanted (female viera) now they tell everyone that wants male viera that its never going to happen because of x and y

I think you could calm down a bit, but that being said, I agree, lots of people are being extremely aggressive towards those who want male viera and viceversa. Honestly, this genderlocked races made the community 10 times worse

The number if posts is vastly Inflated by people posting many times a day (such as yourself) and many of those posts are people saying they don't want male bunnies. I'm willing to bet less than half of the posts in this thread are unique posters that want male buns

Or perhaps this would be the next bunny outfit saga, where the forums lead a self righteous crusade for something to be added... And it turns out to be a comparative waste of time for how underutilized it is.

As things stand, I can see a lot of Catboys changing over to Bunboys, but merely changing between adjacent options is nowhere near as interesting as new options.

That's not to say hrothgar are completely new, but the big bodies and beastly face combination hasn't been a player option until now, and even if few pick up the race there's more value in having them occasionally pop up than just a bunch of cat ears suddenly being replaced with bunny ears.

It's not going to convince people who don't like the big bodies to play the race, so it could just end up that that scenario manifests with Hrothgar, i.e. you get Roes changing into Hrothgar and not much else. Humanoid face just suddenly replaced with a beast face. We shall see following a few months into 5.0. As for Viera, whether the design is popular or not is entirely in SE's hands and how well they implement it...

By the by, how does that argument not apply to female Viera?

So whilst this thread's posts are inflated due to frequent posting (much like any topic on here and yet they don't reach similar page counts), it also has a much higher number of likes on it than any other thread. There is no end to the spurious arguments trotted out on a daily basis by some quarters against an option they don't like 'cuz muh reasons.

Think you may have taken my post a little too personally. There are clearly a lot of people that want this. I am just saying that thread size isn't a clear indication of how many people. I never said nobody wants them and am not sure where that can from you may want to take a break from the forums as you seem to be rather agitated and it seems to be making you see things that aren't there.

I don't recall attributing the claim to you. Perhaps you're the one seeing things that aren't there (it was a comment in the post you were quoting.)

As for your suggestion, whilst I am sure it comes out of a place of genuine concern... nah. Not happening.

We don't have that many Roegadyn. As a result, we don't see much variation in body styles among male characters. Hrothgar might help with this, but even if they don't their beastlike face is a much better contrast than just their bodies when they eventually show up.

As for female viera, I'd much rather have an ugly race option myself -- but this is what the developers have decided to give us. I can't say I blame them for going for yet another generic pretty girl, not when the least-pretty race is so criminally underplayed instead of white bread catgirl.

If I were to take the developers to task to stick to a decision, I'd say adding femgar would have provided a greater value to player options as a whole.

It feels like they made a mistake by adding Viera at all, honestly. We didn't really need them, and now it's more drama for another option that won't provide much additional diversity.

We really do have too much pretty. Give me a rat-person, or a hideous old crone instead. Or break the emergency glass and let me main moogle.

Then by all means, ask them for it, but let's not forget they're not doing this for charity but with the aim of realising higher profits. There is no guarantee either race will do so, least of all mHrothgar, because the aim is to capture those "refugees" from other MMOs who are put out by the lack of a beast race option. It's an uncertain gamble, which they acknowledge, but it is not being done without that constraint in mind.

Diversity for its own sake is no doubt meaningless to SE, because they have shareholders they have to deliver value to at the end of the day. Given the resource intensity of adding new races, they have to at least believe they have a reasonable expected return on investment. Thus they would be rather unlucky if all Viera and Hrothgar ended up doing is cannibalising existing race figures... which may well happen.

I don't think it'd be as big an issue if they had better tools to work with, but their graphics systems are - by their own admission - way behind and a big constraint. Remains to be seen if that will be fixed in time.
