Dragoons: A Rotation Reborn

473 acc twintania for 44 mins (luckily wiped a couple times due to lag)

Not alot of hygeia damage tho so the cap for them may or may not be above 473, I used to run during progression and first 7 or so kills before getting spear with 475 acc and never missed either.

Hey guys, hoping to get some help here, as I'm very frustrated. My DPS sucks and my defense seems non-existent. I haven't been able to finish one HM dungeon yet and I'm always the first to die in my party during boss fights. It's getting really embarrassing now to the point where I don't even want to party with my FC anymore. They've been very patient but I don't want to be "that guy".

I'm in full DL with my +1 relic. I'm following the rotation (H P IDC TTT H P TTT IDC H P TTT TTT) and adding jumps, stuns, B4B, IR, and Foresight in between whenever they come off cool down. I dodge aoe 90% of the time (sometimes as a melee it can't be helped). What else am I missing? Is there a different rotation for boss fights? I feel like I should be OP for these dungeons but it always ends in epic fail. I don't think it's my skill level (I got this far without being carried) but maybe it is. Maybe this is just as far as I can go?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For Burst with the cooldowns, it's more like this:

H>ID>BFB+IR>C>LS>P>PS>T>J>T>LS>T>DFD/SP . I hope that makes sense >_<

It's also about dodging AOE's and learning boss Rotations. As a Melee DPS, you either

1) Need to be really good at paying attention to your surroundings and avoiding 95% + AOE's no matter what to cut stress from healers
2) Know the boss rotations well enough so you know when to use your jumps, know exactly when to use your Burst C/D's, Know when an AOE is coming, when it's safe and when it's not safe.

Other then that, it's just learning how to play the Dragoon. The learning curve for Melee DPS at end-game is incredibly high and took me at least 2 months of smashing my head against a brick wall before I learned I needed to pay more attention to the boss mechanics and boss rotations, more so than the Tank.

Ok. A couple caveats for this parse. First I could not hit 463 accuracy with my gear, so I settled for 466. It took me a bit to get LogRep finally working, however in one of our first two attempts I caught a miss on a small snake, so I added another point and bumped myself up to 467. I then restarted my parse, and was able to get a full 38mins until we killed Twintania. Sorry that the image is absolutely massive, but people requested individual ability numbers. Here are the results:

This certainly doesn't confirm anything, but it suggests it may be somewhere in the 467 range since I did get a miss at 466. It would be nice if some other people could parse around 467 and we'll see if we can lock this down, I can't go again for another week.

That is much more detailed, ty, but I meant only if there were misses should anyone post the attack-by-attack breakdown. 467... time for a new new new BiS list! haha It changes each time the sun rises and falls. I can do 463 acc with the gear i have, but i can't find 467. :/

Since I don't have all the possible items I've been switching my gear around a lot as it comes around to try and find the "current best" and the reason why I'm trying to get the solver to work in OpenOffice but to no avail.

But as I've been switching stuff I just noticed this set gives 468 acc with no food:

This is not BiS, just 468acc if someone wants to test that value on parsers for T5.

Switching to Allagan Bracelets of Striking + Vortex Ring of Striking (in place of Myth Ring) can also give 468acc with the rest of that set.
ACC 468 / CRIT 453 / DET 279 / SKL 443

So more available equipment options to reach that acc value for testing purposes if someone chooses.

That bring us to 460 ACC without food. My solver seems to always get that list, but as I don't totally trust it, it would be good if someone could double check that list.
Of course that's if we choose 467 to be the "right" ACC's cap to have for T5, so don't take that as the final BiS list.

Mike, you could begin by using the super simplified rotation HP IDC TTT, rinse and repeat. It's close in DPS to the best one and will ask you nearly no concentration on it, allowing you to concentrate on the battle and your positioning to avoid aoe/cleaves.

Edit : by running a bit more the solver it gave me a slightly better list.

Edit 2 : the solver works perfectly under OpenOffice. Go to "Tools" > "Solver".

S'okay, it lets people see approximately how many hits were actually executed on each mob over the duration of the parse. I think that 38min encompasses about 4-5 attempts? I really can't remember.

Also I got the spear at last. Which looks sweet on Roe's. So I've got that going for me.
