I personally can't see results of that. Unless they only write down ideas about more things in item shop.

Results are evident..many suggestions, especially complaints from here have found their way into the game. I keep saying this and I think people are in denial. DRK's gutting for example is a direct result of this place. Realize your words have much more weight than it appears.
Back to the topic: It's been so long now that I don't remember the old sounds anymore, and current one has grown on me, in fact, I like the sound of the 3rd combo.
complety doubt it, back on SB literally all the feedback about DRK gameplay was around how to make DA less spamy and make the job being more like his HW version with asking for more combos, more MP skills on single target for more diversity and other minor stuff with clear specifications to keep DRK identity on match as a resource management tank, nobody ask for inner release, nobody ask for kill the resource management, nobody ask to remove all the skills interactions and the overall sinergy with his own kit.
what SE did with DRK was just ignore the feedback and solve all the problems with deleting all the stuff instead of improve it like we ask, this specially is not new since they did the same on HW, how many ppl still ask for bring back scourge or delirium combo system? how many ppl still ask for shadow skin and living dead not being a pain for everyone?at the begining i belive they have some kind of bias around WAR with all the love they give it to it but now seems is a bias against DRK looking at the way how they literate obliterate the job we love and give us a WAR painted of black instead.
i can argue is the same for other jobs looking at MNK feedback and healers feedback, DRK is a hated job from the dev team and thats all, and seems that GNB will follow the same looking at how has pass year and they didn't ajust the sounds when they could do it easily to please the player base in a so easy way if they just cared for it.
the longer the issue remains PPL will feel more and more frustrated with the dev team, as long they keep offering mediocre efforts for long isues like DRK, MNK or GNB complains this will just get worse and worse and if they just ignore ppl bcs they are becoming rude they should now they starte it all of this, it's simple.
I really want the old sound effects back, or at least for it to be an option.
It doesn't sound like you're using a sword anymore lol.
Anyone else watched the GNB reveal trailer recently? Honestly if they kept the sounds from the trailer, I think everyone would have been happy, the sounds on the main combo/superbolide sound much better than either the new or old sounds.
There's very little incentive to even login anymore. The situation with GNB sucks, yeah, but the game as a whole just has no real appeal. I would do crafting/gathering because I enjoyed it, but they revamped that. Took away all the interesting options and made it way to easy to level anything. I have level 80 in almost every crafter/gatherer now and it only took a fraction of the effort it took in stormblood. I don't see why they even plan on adding a crafting beast tribe at this point.
Everything is too easy, and made so even dummies could figure it out. I hate tanking because it's literally slap the boss once, keep aggro and then just do damage like you're any other DPS. I hate what they did to Astro and it's cards. Why yes, I would love to give everyone a 3% boost to damage regardless of the card I draw.
And while no one will probably agree with me on it... I am kind of pissed off that my sub fees went into funding FF7R. A complete let down of a product. I wish they'd actually give XIV the budget it deserves instead of giving them the bare minimum and expecting a ton of income. Give the dev team the money they need and stop casualizing the experience.
You start to notice bad things when they take away stuff that you like. And problem with GNB sfx is that nobody asked for that quality downgrade. It's almost like Yoshi P noticed that too many people pick GNB compared to other tanks, so he just made it less fun for balance.
I don't like lack of activity in this topic. I hope you at least remember about sending weekly in-game suggestion.
we are in a position where the next patch is near so no matter how much we talk about it wont be a change for it right now so the only thing we can do it's wait to know what they are doing with 5.3 and pray for the changes, im in the same position with my delirium rework threat but i hold no hope for it, one we know the info this will heat up again, same with other issues.
I personaly was waiting for 5.3 patch info to coment here again, without Valic somebody have to keep this thread up for adressing, let's pray soken and his team did it specially with the extra time they could enjoy with the delay.
I've been unsubbed for about 2 months because it just seems like they've stopped caring about their current playerbase.... I've come back and it still feels.... "stale". Not just the fact they have yet to respond to the GNB SFX (which btw, I love how they don't even mention how they had to change it on the fly for whatever reason in that audio breakdown video they released on youtube), but also the fact there just.... isn't much going on. 1 dungeon a patch, the above poster mentions something I also feel is an issue that made me stop playing DRK...... Idk, I would think their moderators would at least look at this thread a few times and bring it up to the developers at some point with "hey, you guys remember how there was a thread of maybe 4 people whining about the sounds? Well now we have a thread that is 45 pages long about how awful the change is....". Meh...
I gotta give you credit for holding your stance as firmly as you have. Proud to see that fire still there. Me, I'm totally not using any replacement sounds and dealing with... That said, the current sounds are still garbo and still need to be remedied somehow.
I'm still here also, still passionate about them being changed. And I have been sending feedback in game too. I was holding out for 5.3 like Shao, to see if anything gets changed. Still sad this thread has reached this size and still nothing, not a peep from SE. It's been a year almost since they up and changed them so more than ample "try and get used to time" but nope they still sound and feel horrible, which is a shame because I love Gunbreaker otherwise. Just the sounds hold me back on enjoying playing it a lot.
Yeah it's very sad that no matter how much we try we get no answer from SE. Even though they are a great company, sometimes they commit bad decisions like letting these sounds linger. Gnb with the current sounds is just hard to play and feel satisfied. It's very boring and non impactful.
Didn't they originally change the sounds because of player feedback?
I honestly don't have a problem with them, and I'm sorry for you if they really bother you that much, but presumably more people disliked the original sounds than dislike the current sounds?
They can't just keep yo-yoing back and fourth based on who shouts loudest.
I like it as is and didn't like the old sounds. I think it's honestly unreasonable for people to want a toggle, because not only does it look like bizarro design, what about other jobs? Why does GNB get an option only? (that will go on the sound menu??)
Heck. If we're talking special treatment, I want SAMs only muted entirely, Holy given another sfx for spam and DNC changed to wind sounds so parties with more than my own wont be [rattling] CHING CHANG CHONG FWOOSH
This thread is a year old... just.. close it... XD
There was a very small thread when shadowbringers first came out, the backlash to the change was multiple times larger than the number of people who were complaining about the original sounds on both the JP and the EN side. This just a case of SE jumping the gun on feedback and being too stubborn to change back.
Exactly. We are not pure yoyoing like you said, because there has been a lot of suggestions in this exact thread about how to move forward. Easy fix would be a best of both worlds, combining some of the old sfx and keeping the more impactful new sfx. But again that may only be me. But keep the current cart spenders as is and maybe revert the rest thus keeping the "impact" on the actual charged blade swings (gnashing combo, burst strike, fated) and at the same time allow the non cart related skills to keep the old blade sound ( 1-2-3, aoe 1-2, rough divide, blasting zone, lightning shot). I think you'd find most would be perfectly happy with something like or similar to this. It makes the people that liked the old sword sfx sounds happy, while at the same time keeping the players happy who thought the cart spenders originally were "not impactful enough" keeping them at current sfx.
Full revert is a thing too but I do understand there might be the small amount of people that maybe never played pre 5.01 GNB so they are used to/like the new sounds. And asking SE to create a 3rd set is abit too much I'll admit, which is why mixing both seems the most logical way to do it, to not only fix it finally and easily but to keep both sides happy.
What fully annoying me is the fact that some ppl complaying about the sounds, to be more specific the lack of explosive sounds, and change the whole thing a month later after release and then when the backslash happen and ppl complain about how bad the new ones are they say they will think about it if there is enough feedback.
in other words they immediately changes GNB sounds without letting anyone really get use to them bcs the feedback back then was like 3 weeks old only and then when ppl raise way more complains they say bring more feedback and wait for it like a year of feedback? this is complety irrational.
The biggest flaw is we don't actually know why it changed.
The original thread was like 13 posts long between seven people on the English forums, presumably something similar on the Japanese forums, and the exact content was just that the bang needed more buck.
Given how many little threads exist and how often they're ignored, it seems unlikely that it was the catalyst for change. All we can do is speculate, as they haven't said much on the matter.
That said, there are options for one to take who have sensitive enough hearing to pick them out in the cacophony of normal gameplay.
A lot of people actually play new expansions as they're released, so for the assumption that no one knows what the original sounds were like is a little silly. (Especially since they're still in the stupid Gunbreaker job trailer. False advertising, yeah? ).
So, yeah, the sounds were great for the first two weeks and the blindside us with a change that seemingly only a dozen people asked for; and hundreds, if not thousands of people have been asking them to change it back for well over a year with zero response or acknowledgement. It's incredibly frustrating.
I played Shadowbringers on release. However I played through it as DRK, then leveled my AST and NIN before I started GNB. So I never played GNB through the first 2 weeks.
GNB is now my most played job.
There are 17 jobs in the game now, so the idea that the majority played GNB in those two short weeks, even the majority of current GNB players, is quite a leap of logic.
I didn't say anything about the number of people who actively played GNB on release, nor even indicated that the majority of people playing the class now were the same people who played at launch. You don't need to have played the class personally to have an idea of what it sounded like. Seems illogical to assume that no one watched any of the trailers or ran a dungeon with a GNB prior to 5.01. Members in my FC, who never played GNB themselves prior to 5.01 have vocalized their disappointment of the changes. I doubt that there would still be such a demand for reversal if people didn't care. Folks wouldn't petition for a year, nor have folks make a mod with nearly 20k downloads, if they were not passionate about the class.
You say "such a demand" but there's only 473 votes for it in the strawpoll posted in the first post of this topic.
It's also not the sort of thing someone would vote on if they're not bothered by the current sounds.
85% voted yes over 15% no still makes it quite clear, not to mention a similar outcome to a poll posted on the JP forums. And both these polls were posted the exact day SE changed the sfx. So the sounds were still fresh in peoples minds. Plus the polls were posted when not many were aware of the issue, were you to start another poll now you'd get nothing but troll votes which naturally would effect the outcome. Yes most don't care at all that they were changed, and I'm not dismissing the people that like the current either, I and many others in here are just upset because we liked the old ones so it feels unfair in that way. It's not like it's a potency or kit issue no imho both those things are fine, but this is the first time they've ever done major sound changes to a Job to my knowledge and the sounds on all jobs for me at least enhance my enjoyment of playing them. You'd have the same issue if your main jobs big attack was replaced by a rubber chicken noise wouldn't you? same thing we are trying to express with the gunbreaker changes (rubber chicken as an exaggerated example but you get the idea) they are not jarring enough to fully stop playing it but they are also not the same crisp sounds that we started 5.0 with. Which definitely ruins the enjoyment, all those little trigger clicks on the old 123 the real mechanical feeling to it, yes a gunblade would be heavy but it's still a BLADE so the cutting sounds made sense. As I've said multiple times before had they addressed the explosions issue only so cart spenders which was the actual complaint stemming mainly from fated circle on the JP forums and left the rest as they were in 5.0 most would honestly be happy. But they changed 90% of the attacks and here we are.
I still can't play gnb when i hear the new sounds, i can't. I love how it plays so it's like torture now haha.
To ppl saying " most ppl stay silent so the new sfx are fine " : silence = nothing. We just don't have any feedback from them that's all. Many players still play their job and don't complain even if something doesnt feels good.
Took a month hiatus just wanna drop by to say i want the old GNB sfx back soken san
I don't know what the old sounds were but.. Keen Edge sounds boring lol.. whomp whomp, like my blade was molded after a butter knife. Solid Barrel and Brutal Shell sound cool.
Here https://twitter.com/Very_Merri/statu...41671247200256
The vid start with the current ones and then he show you the original ones.
Oh.. ok I get it. The original appears to favor the sound of the bullet hitting the target, while current favors the blade instead. I think I can't choose between the two lol, the end sounds for both Solid Barrel and Brutal Shell were unchanged and that's the part I like.
Here is win/win for everyone, just let us toggle between them.
Returning after a year for my second ever forum post to just say I still desperately want the old sound effects as an option in character config or something. The sounds in 5.0 went from being provocative and distinct (maybe not everyone's cup of tea) to just horrible pool noodle.
Square Enix please, give us a gunbreaker sounds toggle.
I only just recently came back to the game like 2 weeks ago. Unlocked GNB and the first thing I thought when playing it was, "man, these attacks sound super lame."
Unpopular opinion: The explosion sounds from the original SFX sounded like complete and utter garbage. The current explosion sounds are infinitely better. If anything, they should keep the current explosion sounds and change the blade portion of the sound back to the original, but only on Gnashing combo. Original Burst Strike SFX was completely awful.
Thats not unpopular. A lot of people claim original SFX has weak explosions. But they have to adjust blade part of cartridge combo anyway, because it sounds like swinging a bat, not a blade. Possibly the best and cheapest solution would be taking original SFX, and apply explosions from 5.01 SFX.
I personally have no issues with 5.0 SFX in the long run, but we are trying to find solution that satisfies as many people as possible.
As Cetek said, it's not a very unpopular opinion. I'm partial to either right now but I know my sword should not be going *thump* with each swing and I definitely miss the sound of aether being compounded when I finished a combo. Also, not that I at ALL condone the use of mods of any sort or anything that goes against the ToS... but someone did in fact make a mod specifically using the old slashes but the new sounded explosions.... And it does sound INFINITELY better. I also felt like Fated Circle was very lacking back then but overall gnashing fang and the keen edge combos sounded MUCH better before, at least as far as slashing goes.
A side note, I sent in yet another suggestion... Almost 6 paragraphs in length urging why we'd just like "AN ANSWER". At this point I just want them to acknowledge our existence.
It's my hope that with the additional 3 months of delays that they might have actually addressed this issue when the next patch releases in a month. Somehow I doubt they would have added anything extra or addressed any issues with the excuse of "it was because of the Corona that we did nothing." I'm still praying that they'll revert the god awful club sounds.
Well.... lets hope this patch maybe?... I mean I doubt it but maybe?...
yeah, let's hope they say something next live letter, doubt it too but never lose hope... right?
