Big Fish and You - Patch 2.4 (speculation (or is it? :))

Haven't had the Helocoprion weather/time combo for about 4 days now :( Had a few fog->heatwaves yesterday but the heatwaves fell on midnight-am :(

According to Angler, the Blood-red Bonytongue can be caught for less.

How do some of you guys achieve 411 gathering? :o I'm stuck at 409 with max melds, and FC buff, and spinach quiche HQ.

411 is with ironworks and no buffs?

387 base gathering with ironworks + full forager with meld caps but no spinach quiche or fc buff.

With Spinach Quiche you get to 411 and if you add in the FC buff you can get up to 421 gathering which is the current max if I'm not mistaken.

I hope if there's new fish in 2.5 they don't let FC's that use Gathering buff circumvent the best rods to catch stuff (it also let you skip Foragers and Supra in previous patches). When I saw Ironworks had +12 Gathering over Supra I was initially excited but then it turns out it's not even close to enough to make FC's unable to skip rods. Call me whatever for it but seeing people who had the of Dragons Deep within a week of 2.4 and no where close to the achivement for Ironworks was and still is disappointing considering the amount of effort FSH takes now if you DON'T have the FC buff at your disposal.

Only new fish in 2.5 appears to be the Gigant Clam that will almost certainly be the token turn-in fish like Olgoi and Sovereign before it. Real question is, what are we getting? A rod exactly the same as Ironworks? Better? Worse? :confused:

Ironworks is ilvl 80, the new Lucis rod is ilvl 90... D:

The new Lucius Rod is a major "fuck off" to any fisher that has gotten the Ironworks Fishing Rod. Thank you SE. Absolutely bullshit.

All legendaries fail to hook reliably even if you meet gathering requirements. After that its just rng, On the Faerie Queen I lost 13 nibbles, 14th bit on the same stats.

I've never seen improved chance if you stack even more gathering on.

Does ANYONE know where the gigant clam is?

How do we get Lucis?

60 Glacial Shards, 20 Moonstones and 30 HQ Giant Clams.
Glacial Shards can be bought with GC and Allied Seals, 600 GC seals, not sure on Allied Seals.
Moonstones can be bought with GC seals for 4k each. Dunno if available from Allied Seals but they do drop from maps (Peisteskin for sure) as well.

But rough summary is: 116k GC Seals, Supra and 30 HQ Clams. Clam is so far from what has been found out Clear/Sunshine 12AM-2AM with Heavy Steel Jig in South Bloodshore. Only 358 gathering seems needed.

Oh wow that is a slap in the face to IW rod owners. GC seals are super fast and a single fish.....

Big fishing is fun so I'll still get IW but after Lucis.....

its 3000 allied seals btw...50x60. ```` or you can do leves at 3 a pop, 20 times.

Also 1 free moonstone a day from ixal daily quota... discovered this by accident.

Glacial shards also drop from fisher leves in mor dhona, seen them drop in 3's.

yeah, always grab up the ones with 3 then turn in 1 leve. the available leve rewards will reshuffle so you can keep getting only those with 3's.

super easy to reset list if you omnicraft and want multiple lucii

Caught Wootz Knifefish Zenith with 383 gathering. Darkstar is also catchable at 383 (haven't caught yet, but no 'Not enough gathering' msg).

Just caught Seahag at 10:15pm Eorzea Time during Clear weather. The previous weather in this zone was Gales.

Double clear/fair is not required.

Is Shonisaurus weather- or rather, Mahar to be exact- ever up? I've been big fishing for the last three weeks and never saw clear to blizzard in Coerthas. Ever.

Shoni and Endo (got away 6 times qq) are the only ones left on my dragons deep quest :(

I have seen the Shoni weather an entire 2 times over the past 5-6 days whilst i have been on. It seems to be one of the rarest weather transitions around (blood red boneytounges perhaps being the rarest). Good luck with getting it :).

I recently caught one with that weather transition, and at 2am. Cat became hungry has this fish down as only being able to be caught between 1 and 4 am, and its the only time i have had any luck getting them. Have tried with this exact weather transition at other time periods with no luck, however this may be confirmational bias from my part :).

So, uh. I was working to catch all the big fishes and I happened to caught 3 Catfishes after 40 Minutes. I got the buff. I was happy and then... I dc'd. I log in back. Buff was gone. I hate my life. ((After this I continued 30 minutes and didn't hook a single Catfish.)) This game is seriously telling me to gtfo. )x

Well, my main reason question now:
I have forager clothes (minus the shoes. Can get those as well though), the new bufffood and supra. Something I certainly can't have is the FC buff. Is there anyway I can avoid using it? It kinda sucks that you have to depend on it. Does the itemlvl 90 rod gives you enough gathering to skip the fc buff and still have enough gathering for the legandarys?

The Lucis rod gives 20 Gathering over the Supra, and 14 Perception over the Supra. FC buffs give only +10 to their respective skill. If you get the Lucis rod, it will eliminate any need for FC buffs for any current fish, presuming you're eating the right food and have your other equipment up to date.

It's very rare indeed. Have seen maybe 3 in the past 2 weeks. But finally got another one last night and I managed to get my Shoni and Of Dragon's Deep title (yay). Coincidentally, the even more rare Bonytongue weather condition in MD happened a mere 5 hours ET later and I finally caught it! Twas a good day of fishing, yesterday :D

With Lucis I only use food for Nepto and Shoni.

What SE needs to do is come up with an Augmented IW rod. It fits the theme of the other IW items, could be dyeable and would make the big fishers out there happy. Its not like Perception/Gathering makes that big of a deal with Big Fishing. 99% of it is perseverance and RNG.
