Hopefully this post doesn't get reported, but this should give some more input on ninja DPS and rotations... http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...oday_with_the/
At Eardstapa yeah I watch the video looks pretty sick but he never write his rotation down. I'd like to know his. I've been watching his stuff in YouTube.
Except Aeolian is 320 potency, and can hit hard. Dancing Blade can also hit hard. I've seen both at merely i100 crit for 1.1k and 900 respectively... Don't just base it off one Mudra. Nevermind the fact that TA can also crit for over 1k as well when used. It all adds up.
EDIT: Butcherboy, there is no real rotation, mostly a priority system.
Anyone know the stat weight for det crit and ss . Since I was thinking about going det and ss combo
Stat weights for ninja will probably be very similar to monk. Det is very desirable for autoattacks which should be making up a good chunk of ninja damage because of the 15% increased attack speed. Crit is good for obvious reasons, and SS while allowing you move through attacks faster and providing benefit for a shorter fight can be a detriment on a longer high uptime fight. SS is not inherently bad like a lot of people make it out to be, but it's the amount of uptime in a fight which can make it bad. That's the consideration people really need to make. While ninja shares similarities to dragoon in their combos they also a share a similarity to monks in the attack speed increase causing auto attacks to comprise a higher portion of their total damage.
I know people are still theorycrafting a proper rotation, but as someone who saw "A Rotation Reborn" for Dragoon and nearly collapsed from the amount of inputs, I found that Priority image much easier to follow (the one that's like "Is Heavy Thrust about to go down? Use "x", etc).
For someone like me who isn't an advanced player is there anything of the sort for Ninja? Like "If Huton is up, use "X".
Skill speed will always be the least desirable of the damage stats until SE does something to change it. Remember that it has absolutely zero effect on your auto attack, dots, and ninjutsu. In fact, more skill speed means less time to work in 3 mudras and a jutsu.
doing some research and I got this from the rogue class. Kiss if the wasp and viper: Apply wasp venom to your weapons, increasing damage dealt by 5%. Shares recast with Kiss of the Viper, and cannot be used with other weapon poisons. Effect ends on reuse. now in the trait section that gets increase up to 20% dmg increase. is this similar to B4B where u get a dmg increase? where I this applies in the rotation? just wondering been reading Walk in the shadow and I haven't seen u guys mention this ability yet, so im just wondering.
pretty awesome so that's an insta 20% dmg increase at all times till I remove it.
Don't look at it as a rotation system, because any rotation is going to look like a mess. It's a priority system, first and foremost.
If Huton has, say, 15 or fewer seconds left and Ninjutsu is up, use Huton.
If Mutilate is about to drop off and you're not in the middle of your damage combo, use Mutilate.
And just do the same for the other DOT and the debuff(assuming there's no other NIN or WAR who is taking care of it).
If all of those are good, use the damage combo. Also remember to use Mug, Suiton when SA/TA are off cooldown to apply TA(I only tend to use SA when doing solo content), Assassinate(when able) and Jugulate(unless it's needed for stunning/silencing a particular ability/spell) during GCDs. It can be a lot to keep track of in addition to Mudra combos, but it's just a matter of practicing and getting used to it.
Ninjutsu rotation should be something like this:
Is Huton up? if not, use Huton
Is Trick Attack ready? If yes, Use Suiton > Trick attack
If Huton is up and Trick attack on CD, use Raiton
In the case of Kattsassu being available, you will want to use it as immediately as possible after a ninjutsu, regardless of what that was. During my burst rotation at the start of all fights my ninjutsu goes exactly like this.
Prepare by using Huton pre-fight.
Use Suiton > Katsassu > Trick Attack > Raiton, weaving between your rotation as much as possible.
This accomplishes two things.
Your strongest attacks are used early while all buffs and potions are rolling if u use them.
Your Trick Attack is buffing the raid during their burst rotations at the start of the fight.
Beyond this rotation, you only have to keep up your dots, and if nothing else is avalable, use your filler rotation (Aeolian Edge).
Your Warrior will likely keep Storm's Eye up for you. If not, you may want to keep it up yourself (I'm not sure if it is actually a DPS increase to do so.).
Oh, and as for Doton (that ground AoE), I'm fairly certain it is not an increase in DPS on a single target. Maybe on two targets it is.
Also, Raiton and Katon are fairly equal in damage when against 2 targets, so as soon as you see three targets, use Katon instead of Raiton. Katsassu will guarantee a crit on all targets hit with Katon.
Priority System is definitely easier to grasp for normal attacks, but for Ninjutsu, I stick to a strict rotation:
Huton -> Suiton/Kass Raiton -> Raiton -> Huton -> Suiton -> Raiton, repeat.
Huton is 70s, which allows two other ninjutsu(20s CD) to be cast before you need to reapply, with a narrow 10s of grace. Kassatsu has a 2min CD, which means it should be used on every other Trick Attack. So long as ninjutsus are used at every CD, you will be able to fit in a rotation of 3(+1 for Kass).
You made good points and listed exactly what I do. Though I don't always kassatsu right after suiton. I'd say as long as you do it soon after you should be fine. Right after trick attack at the latest.
Sometimes if you're interested the middle of your melee rotation you could suiton > AE ( always seem to be here or close in my opener )> TA > Kusatsu > raiton. All in about 5 seconds or so. I don't have a parser since I play on ps4 but it puts me stupid high on the hate list and w/e I keep doing for my rotation is working pretty well.
I will have to take the katon thing into account though.
hmm, I hadn't thought of using Trick attack to boost AE. I'll try that, although the most you could hope to fit in the 'Vulnerability Up' buff would be AE and the two dots, which I would think is the most preferable use of the uptime.
Also, I'm always stupid high on the hate list. WTB quelling strikes, preeze.
The reason I use AE before TA is because it's office so it's easy to work it in between my combos ( and for some reason there is a gap of nothing between suiton and trick attack that irks me) . TA is used before I apply my next set of dots so they still get the boost.
What cross-class skills are people using for NIN? I am leveling mine but only have my PUG to lvl 15 but DRG to 50. Is there skills that they get from PUG from 15 on that are considered "must haves" for NIN?
Can't wait for the ninja craze to die down, with everyone wanting to main nin now, party dps compositions are gonna be screwed. Going into t6 to to there is 3 ninja's in every party.
Prolly gonna be a month or two before we see the numbers die down.
Except Poetic and new Coil gear is of Scouting for NIN, and most MNK mains already have their entire left side BiS...
Speaking of new gear (sort of), I went ahead and got my Yoshitmitsu Atma, since the drop rate was dramatically increased. I basically got all twelve in a few hours. I already have a SMN animus weapon, so I can grind alexandrite and work on animus books simultaneously. However, with all the other weapon options available, is it still worth it to go for Yoshitmitsu Novus / Nexus?
I would say yes, simply because Nexus is not the end of the line.
Too many to quote but thanks for that input guys. Will help quite a bit.
Aren't the new tombstone weapon like ilvl 130 or something?
Is it worth it to increase INT for NIN to increase dmg for skill like Raiton, Katon & Doton ? with 10 point in INT and then a piece of INT jewel ?
Even if they're boosted by Foe Requiem, there's no guarantee that they're boosted by INT. . .
EDIT: In fact, I'm going to argue that they are based on DEX just like everything else. Unequip everything but your weapon, and see how much the damage changes. Bet it's rather drastic, as opposed to the 0 change you'd expect if it were INT-based.
In this game damage doesn't scale off of a stat rather than scaling off of attack rating. The class/job determines which stat influences the attack rating, which is dex for ninja.
If an attack is categorized as a 'spell' and thus boosted in damage by foe's has nothing to do with the stat needed to raise it's damage, it's main stat = attack rating all the way.
Meh. U can get soldiery/shiva weap, then HA weap, then tome weap, then final coil weap that has a Crit and Det on it. Not worth doing right now in my opinion. I mean yea you can make a nexus with crit/det for when it reaches 135, but thats already been done for you with final coil weap.
Hi all,
I'm new to FFXIV (started 2 weeks ago) and just started planning when the 2.4 patch and picked up Rogue/Ninja as main. I just hit 50 and was wondering what I should be equipping my NIN with after 50? What equipment should I be aiming for like every 10 ilvls? What dungeons, primals, etc should I be spamming to get my equipment. Pretty overwhelmed right now with all these difference currencies and such.
