Housing Ideas and Feature Requests

I want taller fences, they present ones are all considerably low.

I would like a (craftable) FC shopping list. As the personal cook and Alchemist its hard for me to keep track of what people need for raids and the likes. So, with this little list on the wall, people can make requests for the designated FC cooks and attach the mats.

Sorry if these were noted already!

- Make it so if we log out then in or returning from a DF, you don't find yourself kicked outside your house every time x_x
- Wall clocks
- Pool table
- Window curtains (would be neat to open and close, too)
- Ability to add more windows
- More bed types (styles, rather than colors)
- Placed beds in private rooms to work like Inn rooms (logging out with sleep animation)
- The GC sit-upon chests to hold items (much like the item description suggests)

Still waiting on partitions that match the current set of wallpaper....

Partition curtains and bunk beds, please! Every time I go into the Diamond Forge I seethe with jealousy.

Letz see..
1.) A music box capable of playing CDs of SE games (CDs can be sold on marketboards or may be purchased like phantasias, either)
2.) A grandfather clock that chimes on the hour and tick tocks (Me fell in love with haukke manor....)
3.)Telemoniters~ An exclusive feature of houses where players can see the person theyre chatting with. Watch from your house's screen as your Roe friend redecorates his room and give him tips. Watch as that sexy plump, chubby lala...nvm.
4.) The ability to turn lights on and off, dim or brighten them.
5.) Maid services! Disciples of the hand class (can be used on any house but your own.) For a preset fee, you clean someones dwelling which activates a preset bonus for them upon completion...kinda like FC bonus but more personalized and stronger (exp + 30% for 30 minutes)

you know how we can take pictures? we should be able to get our pictures, frame it and put it up on the wall in our house, who knows, maybe the possibility of selling the pictures that we take on the board, Eorzea is a beautiful place and the I love how we looks. like, they should do a section for "Pictures" on the board and then when you look at the pictures being sold the picture should be big enough for you to see it if you like it or not so you can buy it. I know it sounds kind of lame but this will make people appreciate Eorzea more lol

How about books ? I know we already have bookshelf full of book, stack of books & books of a serie you can place on the stands or table, what I mean with book is book we can read whlie in game, let it be from quest, vendor or craft. Books about lore etc, items player can collect & put on an empty bookshelf, and later the player or anyone enter the house can read it from there

ps: to make it easy, it should be a serie of books instead of 1, so player can select the serie & read it

Right now it feels like there is little variety to the housing items aside from tables, seating, and cabinets. Some of the following would help lend uniqueness to the feel of housing:

- Lighting effects (ability to turn on/off ceiling lights, alter their color, and those that give different effects altogether like the illumination module)
- Armory items (weapon racks, indoor training dummies, mannequins that can wear your gear, storage crates)
- Laboratory items (alembics, tabletop potion flasks, incantation/spell altars, floor candles)
- Features from the inn room: armory chest, aesthetician
- Fish tank half partition
- Additional looks for stairwells/railings

I'd like to be able to adjust the clothing on the merchants in the house. Sometimes their bland green gathering gear just doesn't quite fit the theme of the house at all. (And let's face it, who doesn't want to put their retainers in those snazzy imitations of Hildibrand's gear?) Optionally if we cant have new clothes on the merchants, I'd love to be able to move mine outside where it looks like they're busy with the garden.

Other things in my wishlist:
*storage brik-a-brac (like crates and barrels)
*yummy foods on the tables, or a tea set, steins, something... bonus cookies if we can interact and "drink" from them for fun
*a furniture preview that is more than that teensy little thumbnail (seriously, can we have a hover mini-pic please?)
*crafted beds and chests like the ones the GC offers, without the stamp of GC approval all over it (I like the idea of having a nice wooden trunk at the foot of the bed)

I'd like more exterior wall options, or at least the option to mix and match styles. IE: use riviera design in Lavender Beds.

Lower exterior fences
More interior wallpapers (Something that matches the black marble flooring and doesn't look completely out of place would be nice..)

Can we get more designs for the fences and house models/types? Three is simply not enough! :D

this is a few things i'd like to see

* A bed that you can go to sleep in (like the on in the inn's)
*additional storage space in any form, be it another FC chest that can only be accessed from the FC house, or working drawer or cupboards in private chambers ( I like the idea Celaine had of the wooden trunk at the foot of the bed)
* additional objects like cups, glasses, bottles etc...

Some outdoor furnishing ideas:

- Birdbath
- Birdhouse
- Fairy ring (of mushrooms)
- Flower beds
- "Fruit" trees. These could possibly only be placed in appropriate housing zones. Apples in Lavender Beds, Oranges in Mist, Cherries in The Goblet. They could just be strictly ornamental even.
- General gardening implements, like shovels and rakes that can be placed against walls or left on the ground.

Indoor water fountain.

Something similar to the one in the Gridanian Inn would be nice.

EDIT: Can we also get hanging fixtures/plants/ornaments that flow down from the ceiling? Ones that we can place anywhere we like.

-Please allow us to share a personal house with at least one other person, whether it be marriage partner, or someone we pick.

I am sure several people have said it already in here but I will say it again. Personal housing needs private chambers and the ability to set permissions (for things like private chambers, house entry, chocobo stabling). If I am going to spend 5 mil for a small it should have everything a FC house has since it's the same price (not complaining about the price here just stating that it needs to have everything you're paying for included). Everyone's talking about the marriage system that will eventually be implemented like in FFXI, all those players will be pissed if they don't have personal housing permissions. Also it'd be nice to have something like an FC chest for personal housing to store stuff in.

I think this is already possible if you type "/doze" on top of a bed then you lie down using the same animation as inside the inn. Then logout ^^

Not the same, no music and when you log back in you are outside of your house.

The sleeping animation at the inn is nothing like the /doze emote.

As for my wishlist:
Ability to move the Personal Room door wherever
A watering can that tends entire gardens at a time
Partitions in a wider variety of lengths, as well as matching corners.
All new furniture designed to be dyeable (retroactive would be nice too) unless the design is absolutely. Ability to dye interior fixturestoo.
Matching furniture for the 1-off Primal pieces
Bigger outdoor furnishings - we don't have enough allotment to fill the garden with tiny trinkets like bloodgrass, so please, bigger setups. I'd love a pond 5x the size of the garden pond)
Less "flashing" when you superimpose furniture. Probably not possible though, maybe the last furniture selected has display priority?
Most of all, finer x,y positioning. It is REALLY irritating spending five minutes to get two partitions to line up properly, then re-entering the house and finding a gap inbetween because the game decided to round off the coordinates.

First and foremost, I love, love, love the game and the housing options that are available to us. It's a pleasure watching it expand and change. And with that growth in mind, I submit to your whim the following:

I know it has been mentioned several times, but a jukebox or radio in the house would really be awesome. Especially for the impromptu dance parties that are bound to happen from time to time.

Also I would love to see a friend list or special aetheryte option to visit friends houses. It's a little round about having to port twice and run and port again, whenever you want to go to someone's stoop party.

And as far as functionality goes, and with the scarcity of new land options, I could do without the restrictions on crafting stations in the home, and garden plots in the yard.

And of course, I want to place an ever growing amount of furnishings to my home, some information about potential limit increases would be fantastic.

MOAR HOLIDAY STUFF!

I'd love to see holiday themed housing bits (winged pumpkin yard decorations and an interactive trick-or-treat bucket for saint's wake please!). Maybe even housing vanity packs ala what Sims does in the new store?

Seasonal themed housing items would be nice. If I could I'd place pumpkins all over the house.

It would also create possibilities for crafting related seasonal quests next to the ones we have now. Something like complete a small quest, learn a few seasonal recipes.

Has anyone suggest couch-specific emote interaction? My personal room doesn't have space for a bed so I'd like to /doze on my Vortex couch. Actually, let's add high back chairs to the list of /doze furniture as well.

Wishlist:
* New funny wall pics. Allow screenshots as large wall pictures. Wedding portrait for home.
* Ability to turn out the overhead lights. just use lamp lights.
* Full ceiling-to-floor transparent light drapes & also heavy drapes placeable anywhere like walls, for light Arabian style entry, drapes around beds, drapes covering/frame windows.
* Armoires to really store armor
* Buildable fishtank from a festival (FFXI)
* New device (crystal? set of little items that could sit on a shelf on the wall?) to play questible, collectible unique music maybe ffxi music
* A container to garden in: our fc gardens are always booked up. I realize this keeps grown items from flooding market, but maybe if you limit the number of growing pot/containers per room to just enough for 2 plants per room.
* Ability for 2 separate players with rooms in the fc to link rooms with a open doorway yet each person maintain their own furniture ownership and area restriction

My wishlist:
- Able to sleep on own private chamber / private house like sleeping on inn
- When owned workbench (like Goldsmithing Bench) or kitchen, We can craft with that workbench or cooking
- Fairy-themed decoration
- Music Box
- Aquarium
- and much more.

want the bility to use new dyes - jet black, pure white, metlic silver, metalic gold - currently cannot use these

...and plz increase the item limit in large house ------ even 50 items would be ok
....large is nearly 3x the size of a medium and item limits are 150 vs 200 .... just doesn't make sense

I do have a item/feature wish.

There is one type of housing item that we had back in Ultima Online and I dearly miss. Game boards. Like chess sets or checker boards you could set on a table in your house and any two players could use, open a new view on it, and move the pieces around freely. It just added that extra something to the evenings and to the feel of the room. ♥

It wouldn't have to be anything complex with fully implemented rulesets preventing players from doing illegal moves. Just a simple gameboard with the full set of pieces and the ability to move them around. I realize the card game is arriving soon but that is a minigame rather than a housing item.

Imagine what it'd be like to have a go board sitting in your garden that is fully interactable for your character. That is my only wish now that the tea set is coming. ♪

I agree with Runic.

200 slots to place items in a large house is not enough.
By the time i filled out the ground and basement floors i had 7 slots left... certainly needs to be increased

Wishlist:
About the NPCs in the house...
- Could we give them at least something better to wear? The standard retainer outfit looks good enough, or anything better than the Hempen clothes (rags) they're currently wearing.
- Add vanity NPCs in the house. Handsome bulters or cute maids, I think they deserve a spot in your manor. Aligned with this, we could increase the NPC count allowed in the plots (+1 for medium, +2 for large).
- Better yet, get your actual retainers to serve in the house. You could dress up and create familiar NPCs that roam and stay in your house, replacing some merchants or the aforementioned vanity NPCs. This could be a feature in personal housing as there are too many people in FC that may want their own retainers to serve.

Besides the obvious request to be able to share housing with alts/significant others etc, which has been posted by many people before, I would definitely like to see more bed designs, since the existing ones are really too similar to each other.
A bed like the huge one with the torn curtains which is seen inside Haukke Manor would be great for instance...

This is my wishlist for housing (private housing more particularly):

- Allow private individuals to edit housing permissions with friends\groups of friends and in the near future, with the person whom you share the eternal bond with.

ex. I may want to let a few friends into my house or room, but not my pesky neighbour! Right now we can either allow everyone or disallow everyone, there are no selective access permissions.
Another interesting thing that could come from this would be to give a friend decoration permissions for your house. This was very common in other games like Ultima Online.
There are a lot of people who are talented at decorating while others no so much but still want to have a tidy house. Talented people could offer their services if such permissions were implemented into the game.


- Allow me to purchase private chambers in a private house much like it happens on FCs. It's not fair that private individuals are paying the same as FCs and getting less features!

I'm asking for this one for 2 reasons:
1. As private individuals we're paying the SAME as free companies for the houses and getting less features out of it. We should AT LEAST get the same number of features.
2. With the implementation of the eternal bond in the very near future, it would make sense to have private chambers for at least each member of the couple.


- Give players more creative freedom...

...by allowing some indoor furnishings to be used outdoors outdoors and likewise, some outdoor furnishings to be used indoors. And also allow players to stack, overlap items or even lock items at different heights, flip them upside down, sideways or any direction really.

There's so much potential to the housing and decoration system but the current implementation is excessively simplistic. I think Square Enix is underestimating the demand for a deeper decoration system that gives players more creative freedom.
There's so much that can be done by just flipping items and overlapping them at different angles and heights, players can even "invent" new item combos with this.


- This one is an obvious request: please give us more item placement slots.

There's really not much more I can add to this but pretty pleeeeeeease ^^


- Allow us to get extra inventory space through housing.

This will obviously need to get studied but quite frankly it's silly that players don't get extra storage space after investing 4M+ gil on a house.
Not only that, but what good is a house if I can't store some more stuff?


- Allow us to place the npcs outside.

Maybe I only need their services outside! It would also give the housing areas a more lively look if some npcs were outside (which will take me to the next point).


- The housing areas are ghost towns... please do something about it.

I'm not really sure how to address this one, but yeah.. housing districts are pretty empty... There's no relevant shops, no NPCs, and barely any players.
Maybe some daily timed events could be hosted in specific wards at different times of the day? Like a certain npc only selling icecream at a certain time of the day in a random ward in the mist for example? Or maybe add more npcs running about the area much like retainers run outdoors now and then.


Decoration Item Wishlist:

- Fishtank and Pond with actual fishes! And maybe breeding? (maybe add more depth to fishing?).
- Pool outdoor and indoor furnishing.
- Surfboard outdoor furnishing.
- More house\roof exterior models?
