Why are people who chose a Legacy world, who are NOT legacy(1.0) characters being punished by not being able to transfer OFF their legacy server to a Non-Legacy server?
Yea, because characters with a maximum of 5 mil gil will really screw up the economy, when I'm sure they have people with more gil on the non-Legacy servers. And don't forget the people who buy/sell gil that already had the economy in a bad state.
This is just a stupid excuse to limit people, especially when some people were forced to choose those servers to begin with. It's not anyone's fault that the launch was so messed up that we all got split apart (those wanting to play together) and now they can not change servers because of some stupid economy excuse. RMTs and people pore stuff on the market for like 1gil making it hard to get any kind of money. RMTs teleport to monsters to in order to control a certain supply. They are messing up the economy, not the players that want to play with their Friend. I'm telling you right now FFXIV will start to loose a lot of player base for that stupid decision.
"Furthermore, characters can only transfer 3 million gil, while retainers can only transfer 1 million gil. Please be aware that excess gil will be lost." A char can only have 2 retainers so, 3 mil, + 2mil from retainers = max 5mil.
Transferrable Current World Destination World
○ Non-Legacy World -> Legacy World
○ Legacy World -> Legacy World
× Legacy World -> Non-Legacy World
This has me worried. Legacy servers already have high populations. Why not put bigger economic restrictions on Legacy -> Non-Legacy worlds?
I have friends moving from non-legacy worlds to mine because I cant make the move. I have a feeling lots of other players are going to be doing this too.
edit: found the post
I explain it here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ht-PS3-Version
TL'DR PS3 gives 30 free days, PC gives 30 free days, together 60 free days. Can't xfer if you have free days left.
My sub start mid of this time frame, wonder if I even get on this free transfer...
Even those who get to do this are getting screwed really. We lose up to maybe a week of game time that we paid for? I mean yea I could log in, screw up my account, and then take a month to try to fix that problem, woo. They should have done this during the free trial/extended period, not forbid it from those still on it.Quote:
Once you begin the World transfer process, you cannot create new characters or log into the game until the transfer is complete. A large number of players are expected to make use of the World Transfer Service during this free period. As a result, transfers may require several days before processing is complete.
Oh, and the real kicker in their disclaimer
I can see this going real well.Quote:
Please note that the Square Enix Support Center cannot assist with certain problems if more than one week has passed since using this service.
I have 1 lvl 50 job and my second job is getting close to 47, and I barely ever used the auction house system for items (got them from quests) and the amount of gil I gain from quests is sufficient for me to function at this point (teleporting, choco porting etc).
So my question is, for those people who worry that the legacy players would impact the economy, are they the ones who themselves possess a great amount of gil and high ranks in crafting? Because that's the only way I see how one can fear the possible "impact" of legacy players transfering into their servers...
There's also the case of the v1 customers who bought a PS3 version. If they registered it before their 14 days from v1 were used up, that would extend their free period to October 17 (Sept 10 + 7 days + 30 days), which is 2 days after transfers begin, but still in the free transfers period. It might get messier if they paid on Sept 17 then bought and registered a PS3 version some time after that. They would now both have started paying an ARR subscription and also be under the PS3's 30-day trial period which might not start for many months (assuming they paid 90 days).
I also worry about this.
If there are 10 RL friends who started together but were forced to split into different servers and 1 of them happened to be on legacy server, the only way for those 10 to be together is to transfer to the legacy server.
I'm worried that the legacy servers will get over populated so quickly and the separated people don't get to be together...
Hvinire i've some question regarding data retained after transfer, it has been said : Gil (3 million gil per character, 1 million gil per retainer)
that means 1 character can bring total up to 5 millions gils : 3 million gils on character + 2 million gils (from 2 retainer, each hold 1 million).
What if player (let say) have 6 million gils, can we bring the remaining 1 million gil from 2nd character or mule from same server? Since i know we can deliver gil from moogle mail.
Thank you in advance.

Wrong If there was tighter limits for Legacy Characters then how would this effect a new servers economy.
1.) Gil limit is 3mil make it a 1mil, Retainer cap is 1mil make it 500k
2.) Don't allow any gear that isn't spirit bonded or unique (so a rich Legacy player cant buy 100 HQ ilvl70 items and then sell them for 5-10xs what they paid) Or w/e item.
3.) No Materials for crafting, No Food, And No Materia.
And a Legacy Characters Crafts and levels have nothing to do with the economy because anyone can roll on a new server and get 50 anything in a matter of days.
When (Non)Legacy characters are allowed to transfer in a few months do we get a free transfer as well?
What time PDT (Pacific Daylight Time) on October 15? Anybody? Bueller?
I was told personally on the phone by SE customer service at launch that transfers would be available by September 15.
MANY MANY NA legacy players have been stranded on Japanese legacy servers and this transfer is a god-send (most legacy players did not participate in beta 3.0 and thus missed the tiny June 21-July 15 transfer window they offered at that time).
Oh well, not unexpected by SE I suppose. Guess my guilds accounts go to sleep until they lift the Legacy to New ban. Enjoy the cluster f this is going to create! :/
why they haven't add a new legacy server, because for the legacy server you haven't real choice since most of the legacy server are quite populated...
one more time legacy player get left out...
Nice to have specifics! The amount of gil you can take is higher than I thought, but I guess that is expected since you can't transfer Legacy > non-Legacy.
Though, I am a bit confused about this part:
* Characters cannot be transferred to a World which has already reached the limit for character creation.
I haven't been keeping up with which worlds (if any) are closed to character creation and how that works. ^^; Do some worlds open and close intermittently depending on the time of day, like they did for awhile after launch?
they have been closing worlds during peak times mostly. but some worlds are staying closed due to population issues
so in other words if you plan to transfer check this
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...06d0909189e479
it is updated at regular intervals marked in the post
I'm just hoping my 1 friend will be able to find his way on to excalibur.
did you not read the lodestone information?
* Characters cannot be transferred to a World which has already reached the limit for character creation
excal is on that list. as i expected, SE has managed to not only screw up this release, but ruin this
entire game experience. i hope that some people get to reunite with their friends without all these
idiotic restrictions and enjoy the game they way EVERYONE should have but this is the end of the
road for me and my friends. i hope you guys have better luck than we did.
+1. Seriously, if I go from a Legacy world to a Non-Legacy onewith a lot of gil and items, what havoc can really I cause for the economy?
- Undercut everyone with the items I have? Existing chars can already do that.
- Sell those items for high amounts? Everyone would buy the cheapest copies first.
- Buy the 100g items and sell them for 10,000g and be an evil monopolizer? Except for certain items, anyone can quickly get new ones and sell them for 100g again.
- Don't even get me started about the people that say that Legacy characters can hurt the market beyond buying and selling like the above examples. I don't know how people think that their Duty Finder drops are going to magically get taken by the Legacy character's Need Lot+1 ability.
It was said from the start that legacy rolls would not beable to transfer to new worlds the fact that yoshi p is talking about leting it happen in time is more then most games would do. And thay gave legacy players hella kick backs in relaunch 90% of other mmos would of ither said screw you thanks for the money or here have a useless pet and a 10 day game card. I got screwd out of my new beta roll and had to play on jp server when I'm in na. It sucks but I'm not going to rage quit over it.
I want to start my Relic quest now, but I don't know if transfers will mess it up. Better safe than sorry I suppose.
Can we PLEASE get a game developer on here to explain their EXACT reasoning that legacy characters cannot transfer to non legacy worlds? And explain it in light of: 1) RMT has destroyed the economies of most worlds at this point anyway. and 2) We're limited how much gil we can transfer with us.
You're going to end up with legacy servers being stupidly overcrowded and others as ghost towns because of this restriction. If I want to play with my friends, I have to convince them to join me. How is that fair, when I didn't join their server in the first place because of log in restrictions far beyond my control?
Square, fix this or you'll be losing a customer. I hear Guild Wars 2 is doing excellent right now.
Will one of you please please PLEASE give us a month & year for when legacy characters will be able to transfer to non-legacy worlds?
soo... i've been telling all my friends to go to catuar due to hyperion being full at launch because i was going to server transfer there.... then had to wait an extra month do you guys to get this working right and now that its about time for it to get into service... your locking me from joining them because your scared other legacy players will mess up the economy... if i recall from an earlier announcement, you guys was going to give us a Gil limit anyway. your reasoning for locking us from joining our friends isn't really a good enough reason. unless your worried my 28k Gil is just going to mess everything up -.-Quote:
Transfers Involving Legacy Worlds
In order to allow the economy of newly established Worlds to stabilize, the following restrictions have been set in place for Legacy Worlds.
Transferrable Current World Destination World
○ Non-Legacy World -> Legacy World
○ Legacy World -> Legacy World
× Legacy World -> Non-Legacy World
At least devs owe us an explanation for the legacy -> non legacy forbidden transfer AND a date about when this will be possible.
Once again I don't pretend to be the smarter guy who knows it all about server economies and such. But about two things I'm 100% sure:
- This is not how a costumer should be treated (if there's something messed up and I'm not the culprit I should NOT pay the consequences as costumer) so you should really find another workaround for this problem.
- As a costumer I have the right to know ALL the details about why my service options are fewer because I play on a Legacy World.
I'll be waiting for your answer and not for excuses.
Hi there,
Thank you for updating the lodestone information.
There is one question that I would like to ask, will our current quest(s) progress be carried over as well? For example, if I am on the step to kill Ifrit on Hard mode for my relic quest will that be carried over as well or would I have to start over from scratch?
Hopefully this being "preliminary" means that this part can change before it launches. I don't think it is fair to ask my friends who have likely met new people to transfer to my server. It's also not fair that I should lose the character I've had for this long in order to play with them, especially when there are already economy protecting measures applied to all transfers.
I would really like to see some updated data on the differences between legacy and non legacy servers is in terms of economy at this point... is that a calculated conclusion or its just something they "guess" will happen if they let ppl out of legacy jails.
My guess though, is the FFXIV team is still quite small (they just started making profit recently) and they are over loaded with other tasks to tune up such a ambitious, complex game PLUS the up coming new content. They probably do not have an analytical team to monitor and make decisions on game economy yet. Nor would they put the transfer issue into their top priority unless we keep making our voice heard.
i hope you're being dramatic for effect, because your post sounds ridiculous.
i hope you realize;
1) transfers will eventually be available off legacy worlds down the road as the economy and status of characters on legacy worlds balances out with those on nonlegacy worlds over time
2) There's no reason why your friends can't transfer to YOUR world instead. What's the problem here? why does this have to ruin your game experience? transfer to legacy world is possible, so why not do that? Ive yet to see a rational reason for this level of irateness- there are reasonable solutions to your situation.
You CAN play with your friends, Even if you're on a legacy world.
you must be gullible if you actually believe there are enough 1.0 players on Legacy worlds to justify this decision. there are not, maybe 10% of the entire 1.0 population fall into this and that is pushing it. their decision might have seemed like a good one at the time they made it but the reality of it is that it wasnt. which means that ALL players on ALL Legacy worlds(including new players) are being punished for what the few have.
I have yet to see anyone with half a brain suggest this. the Legacy worlds are already mostly overcrowded. this will just make them much more so. stop suggesting nonsense to defend a decision that should never have been made in the first place
It would be nice to knew the time frame when a legacy players could transfer to a non-legacy servers
Back in 2011(?), after reading posts by SE reps, we generally assumed it would be 6 months after launch, to let the economy of new worlds establish. We're still 4 months away from that assumption, fyi.
A JP rep clarification (unofficial translation, last white quote box in that message) seemed to indicate it would be starting after the all or regional worlds maintenance downtime on Oct 15 (JP timezone), but that maintenance has yet to be scheduled.
1 suggestion for those of us concerned with Legacy --> Non-Legacy transfers.
In my experience with FFXI forums, the posts with the most LIKES get more attention from the community reps, and by extension, the devs. I'm seeing lots and lots of people expressing these concerns, but each of these posts have 0-10 likes.
Please use the LIKE feature and LIKE posts expressing a similar viewpoint to yours. The community reps don't have time to read through every thread and see what the common themes of posts are. However, it's quite easy for them to look for posts with a high number of LIKES to see what a large number of people are interested in / concerned about.
On the Japanese side, they are really good at this, but we're not so good at it on the NA side.
TL;DR: Please use the LIKE feature on posts you agree with. This is the most efficient way to get community rep attention.
