I do agree, SE hasn't said anything about Louie fate yet. There's some stories which has certain old geezer facing his death, which ends up later with him being perfectly fine or survive but in serious injury.
Wonder if there's FFXI players here that can help making comparison with special NPC on XI who's dead later... Better compare with similar MMOs. XD -
