That is the case with most vids. I will occasionally watch a fight to get tips but 99% of gaming vids (maybe of all youtube/twitch - I can’t bear to follow anyone) are inane. Why spend 10-15 mins watching a vid when all you need to know could be read in less than a min.

This thread is quite something, between the huge insensitivty and the derailing about streamers.

"if I was in the middle of a war I wouldn't care about videogames" but you aren't, are you? So how can you know? Easy to make assumption when the situation doesn't affect you.
An in game friend of mine is actually straight out in the middle of all that. With bombings out of the window and being eligible to being conscripted any day. And guess what, ffxiv is actually his way of finding an escape from all that nightmare, the only way to try and forget for some minutes/hours that that hell is happening and think of something else and not go crazy. And I'm sure a load more people in the middle of all that do the same, especially if not allowed to leave the country.

And in general I disagree that videogames are a luxury product and the least of your worries if you're struggling. Especially MMOs. They're more often than not the refuge of people struggling a lot in life and holding onto those games as escape.
personally, myself, the times when I'm livng my best life and having good money and everything's ok, I set videogames outside and actually go out and live real life. But that's derailing.

And nobody here asked for charity or free access or something. Regional pricings are a thing in many videogames, and tbh it always seemed silly to me that rich countries and poor countries pay the same amount, when somewhere you make that money in half an hour work or less, in some others it's a full 12h day work and the value of currencies is also so different. Especially evident when people come and say things like "the sub is basically free, that amount of money is nothing" showing the disparities.

But yeah, I don't think square enix would ever care, rich companies don't get rich by being nice, I just think the level of comments in this thread is really something.

That's fair but back when I watched him it was for raid guides and his biggest competition was MTQ and her vids were pretty straight to the point, as I recall at least.

If Video games is not a luxury? What is it?
Is Netflix, Spotify, HBO MAX, Audible, <insert whatever service you pay monthly for> a luxury? I'd argue it is.

Seriously, a game company shouldnt care about specific issues or crisis at the world. There is allways some stuff going on somewhere. Its unfortunate what happens in the ukraine right now but they dont should get any special threatment. If someone cant play or pay the sub anymore thats a personal issue. Also a lot of refugees that fleet towards western europe get enough financel help to still be able afford the 13€ for the sub. My friend took a mom with her son in and they have a better live now than where they lived.

So no, if you really wanna help them, send support supplys or financel aid direct there. But leave this stuff out of a game.
