Would Endwalker have been better if we never visited Elpis at all?

It's implied rather heavily in that scene that they have been watching the entire thing unfold. I doubt there would be any confusion at all. Also we met the shade of Hyth seeping out on the moon so that part of him could have known us. Or just do soul vision again.

I mean, the story was fine up to the moon. Just it felt a little rushed going into the second half and elpis was definitely just thrown in there. It kind of reminds me of some of my DnD games where I had to adhoc a reason why X should happen, and the next thing you know you have a nature god making a staircase out of squirrels to crown the next heir to the throne to empower the heroes enough to kill an overpowered illithid half lich death knight that was born from sticking one too many templates together and hoping the CR rating would be accurate.

... trust me it was anything BUT accurate. :o
