SE are leaving BLM to rot by giving SMN and RDM even more utility

Are you comparing... Caster DPS to healers? The role which first task is the group survival?
And if you want to include BLU, it has a very long cooldown on its res. 5 minutes if I'm not mistaken. And finally, BLU is BLU, you can't compare it to any job. It has the best mitigation, the best healing, the best dps...

If you want to argue about BLM party utility, don't forget that currently MCH has Tactician on a higher cooldown and is often outshined by DNC and/or BRD in specific situations.
Be happy that you at least have the damages.

In prog it's worth but past it, the res is effectively useless.

BLM will be fine, it'll be balanced against them damage wise. What I worry about is physical range, because the devs have a poor track record with their "low damage because movement and utility" argument, when compared to RDM and SMN being not far behind in those categories and doing much more damage. This especially applies to MCH.

Imagine if SMN had 3 cast in its rotation, healing and a res compared to DNC the support job.
Just kidding but... imagine.

Ranged are subjobs, mana mangement, strong mitigation, all of this was scrapped during ShB transition.

Which actually reminds me that BLM will remain a very strong pick as you can pick a melee, SMN/RDM, BLM and any ranged.
You can also double melee but double ranged is shooting yourself in the foot for no advantages while SMN&RDM will remain quite strong for prog.

BLM is mobile and powerful but limited by teammates.
RDM is mobile and has a lot of support but its DPS output is lower.
SMN is mobile has crazy support but huh... What's SMN weakness now if it keeps its damage?

DPS output between RDM and SMN is not really big. RDM Embolden is better than SMN buff. You can not choose when you can use your phoenix heals without massive dps loss. RDM do not need hold Swiftcast for raise. RDM magic Magic Barrier can be used on any mechanic you want without dps loss.

SMN will be in the middle of the road option. Outclassed in support by rdm and out DPS by blm

Red Mage's only curatives are on the gcd. Red Mage by necessity dumps 500+ potency worth of gcd in order to raise at all. Red Mage is still bound by its initial 1.9s cast time, if interrupted it loses not just one but two casts. With potencies as they are, e. Reprise is a hilariously bad dps loss even as a "mobility tool" so once Red Mage reaches the end of its mobility from dualcast and possibly swift cast, they've reached the limit of their mobility, unless you count their melee phase which is fair, but limited itself both by range and resources.

Phoenix tends to come out during bursts of damage anyway, and it's worth way more than a 10% mitigation every two minutes. Summoner now also has access to essentially two ogcd personal shields at will. Summoner has so many free gcds of movement that they have a "casting phase." On a category of classes called "casters." Raise aside, their sheer mobility is going to make them much more valuable for prog than Red Mage, especially in fights as unforgiving as ultimate where you barely even have a chance to raise.

Of course the question none of us can answer right now is if SMN and RDM stay where they are damage-relative. As it stands, there are benefits and drawbacks to both casters, and now that double caster is on the table it may come to pass that both become the prog mage.
