Hello everyone. I was experiencing a lot of DX11 and DX9 crashes as well as BSOD. Mainly with FFXIV and AC Valhalla. I tried everything I could to find the cause. I changed drivers, reinstalled windows, reinstalled FFXIV. Non of it worked. I was contemplating quitting FFXIV since it was almost unplayable. I ran across a thread somewhere that mentioned that it could be a CPU issue. I did some testing of my CPU which was a Ryzen 5 3600 and found that 1 of the cores was not working properly and causing some errors. I replaced my CPU with a Ryzen 9 5900X and I haven't had a single crash on any game. I know that isn't what's wrong with everyone's PC but don't overlook a possible dying CPU as the cause.

Updating, though at this point and with the amount of dx error threads it's pretty obvious that the NA GMs either don't care or don't have the rank to communicate this issue to the devs.
After 2 months of not running DR at all I thought the issue had fixed itself, I was able to play for hours on end and even leave the game running and come back to 0 crashes. But with the new relic step, I went back to do Bozja, DR and Zadnor and the crashes came back at the 1-2 hour mark. Just stepping into any of these zones is enough to trigger a crash after 1-2 hours, even if I immediately step out and go to my house or another area.

Possible fix
So after turning my 2nd monitor off and running it full screen I have not had a single DX 11000002 error in 140 hours of game play. Before I was getting at least one crash every 5 hours (once per evening). It looks like I fixed the issue myself.
To recap I am also running as the following spec - even though I got crashes with the below config. - Turning my 2nd monitor off really made the difference.
Running no extra gfx mods
Nvidia drivers v466.27
Windows 10 build 20H2 (19042.985)
1440p resolution on a gsync 144Hz monitor
Gsync turned on
Steam and discord and nvidia overlays disabled
Hardware Specs
RTX 3090
32GB DDR4 RAM
Ryzen 9 5950x
